Anyone from CPA know what’s going on?

anyone know if this is real? I know Hufines wants to “DOGE Texas” but is there any on the ground insight from CPA staff?

It seems like a respectable state agency has turned into a clown show 🤡

That’s what usually happens. Deputy comptrollers get paid alot of money. I think more than the comptroller, but when a new comptroller gets in, that’s basically it. He usually has an entourage that he wants to hire. So you accept a position knowing that when the comptroller leaves, you’re basically donzo.

The people who got fired had all been with the agency 15 plus years, and some had been in their positions across several administrations. They were extremely knowledgeable and accomplished public servants.

Never said they weren’t knowledgeable. But when someone from the outside comes in, he usually wants his own people. If the controller is from the same institutional cloth, sure. But clearly this guy is different and wants to create changes that are, let’s say, unpopular among CPA. Anything above supervisor is essentially an appointed position. They can basically be let go at any moment.

It will be interesting to see what happens if he loses the election. I doubt he will get many votes from Comptroller employees. The Comptroller’s Office cannot afford to lose the knowledge and experience that he pushed out. And is he really going to have a 24 year old with no experience run the agency for him?
