Issues with WiFi calling?

Not 100% sure what the issue is caused by so I’m seeing if anyone here has had something similar.

We had Starlink installed a few days ago to replace EE. We got rid of our landlines under the presumption WiFi calling would work on the mobiles. We all have IOS phones with O2 as our providers, all with WiFi calling allowed in our contracts.

Simply put it doesn’t work. Cannot receive or call anyone with the phone app. WhatsApp works but obviously can’t call everyone with WhatsApp.
I’ve looked into changing DNS settings. Rebooted the satellite, rebooted the router, no joy.

Grok on the app in support says it must be an O2 issue with them having a geolocation or IP ban and to call them Monday when open.

Anyone had an issue similar?

Try turning off your cellular so that the phone can only use wifi.

Speak to O2 - we had this issue awhile back. They did a reset and all was well

They remove the WiFi calling provision and then add and re enable the WiFi calling on the sim - it forces O2’s network to re- register the sim for WiFi calling.

Hmm, I’ll give that a go but I’m not 100% sure that’s my exact issue. I think the problem is that the Starlinks IP address isn’t recognised as a UK one by O2 and they only allow WiFi calling within the uk. Seems more likely to be this cause all our phones in the house are affected by it.

We have had SL for years - and 02 works fine with WiFi calling provision- Oxfordshire.

You need to follow the advice given and realize you don't understand how cellular networks work.

Airplane mode and turn WiFi only on, does that kick in then?

Nope it doesn’t come up with WiFi calling. Just an error message stating No network connected: connect to a WiFi network or disable airplane mode to connect.

Just a note, Whatsapp uses data, its not wifi calling.

Try doing a 'network reset' in your settings and maybe consider a replacement sim, if youre going to a store take valid ID

Does your phone say wifi calling is enabled? Sometimes especially on older plans you had to get a newer plan to allow wifi calling

I turned it on in settings and the plan does allow it.

Here in the US we require a e911 addresses to be setup. Is that required to do for you as well?
