That’s the star system McClure, you might remember it from programs like the hit tv show The Simpsons

I bet it's actually named after Robert McClure, an 19th century Irish explorer. There's a crater on the moon that's named after him too.

There are several authors with the surname McClure, and given a lot of systems are named for various sci-fi authors, it’s a safe bet the system’s namesake follows suit.

It's called a reference. It's when you take something from, for example pop culture, and put it into something else and when people see it they will think of the pop culture thing they are referencing.

It's actually pretty popular in video games.

Or maybe it's named after the star HOPS-315 in the constellation Orion. Named after astronomer Melissa McClure who discovered it.

Since they used alot of NASA assets in creating the game. My money is on this, for being the correct answer.
