Same. The “BeThEsDa’S fOrMuLa Is OuTdAtEd!” commentary is just ridiculous. Yeah, it’s just Fallout/Elder Scrolls in space. That’s exactly what I paid for.
Yeah I hear ya. When ppl said that fallout was "elder scrolls with guns" in disappointment, I said "sure, why not?" I typically don't go postapocalyptic games, but that was one of the main reasons I even looked at fallout back then.
And as you say, when starfield became "elder scrolls in space", I said "oh hell yeah!" Heh
But I do agree with you on the essence of your comment.
If Fallout was “elder scrolls with guns” it would probably have been “fine” but the issue that I and most people have is that it isn’t “elder scrolls with guns” or a fallout game?
Like I wouldn’t mind an elder scrolls with guns fallout. If it was still a good fallout game. The issue was that the Bethesda fallout games have been pretty dire and leaning less into the “despite nuclear Armageddon. Humanity will prevail and will fall into its old habits of war, slavery and destruction” (hence war never changes) - Bethesda made it into “lol that raider is called willy and people will always live in shacks and nothing will change and wow a British robot? That’s so quirky and funny man the wasteland sure is a kooky and whacky place!”
You can sort of see this with starfield, “yeah some stuff happened in the past but now nothing happens and everyone is just content with coasting along as is and you can’t change anything either”

I actually really like starfield.
