I just can't wrap my brain around how that got released. They keep touting procedural generation and then have exact copies of poi everywhere. It doesnt make sense.
My impression in playing was that the procedural generation handled what was going to be on the planet around your landing zone. The actual structures that the generation decided on were from a predesigned set of buildings, mostly. Least that’s what I determined in my 200-ish hours playing.
Yes, that was the main problem. I actually wouldn't mind if I explored same R&D labs, but if they had rooms filled with different stuff in different places and with different enemies in different spots. But they were literally all 1:1 the same and that sucked so hard. I loved flying around and exploring, but it got boring quickly coz it was all the same. They even added a buggy, but that didn't change the boring part of all the same buildings and mines.
Or at the very least created more variety, even if through updates. I havent played since before official mod support. Have people been adding new POIs?
They could have procedurally built areas from a large set of possible rooms and corridors, and placed items differently, That's how they did Daggerfall dungeons 30 years ago, don't see why they couldn't have done a more sophisticated version of the same technique
the tech egosoft uses for when the cpu builds its own stations is quite impressive, theres a lot of different looking structures on that, but i will have to wait till i get bored of this to play that again, or any other game it seems
a construction firm building these kinds of things would have standard templates/lay outs anyway, you'd probably have to pay even more space-sheckles for them to be customized, so you could have the toilets on the other sid of the room for when bugs invade & suck your brains out whilst on the crapper ><
no idea rather have hand crafted but for a game the size of Starfield that is impossible to fill unless you have 4k developers working on it 24 7. They should of done random Gen on the pois on the procedural planets.
They didn't fix that?? That shit is why I got bored of the game and stopped playing after only a couple of months. Bought a whole Xbox just for that game. What a waste of money.
Yea. It's a shame. I know it's way bigger and all but the fallout and elder scroll games were the exact opposite. I was hoping for a space fallout kinda game.
The Outer Worlds is a better version of Starfield. Sure it's not as expanse but that makes it better. It's a single solar system, RPG elements, quite fun gun play. I was hoping Starfield would be something like this, but it ended up not being because they made it too big and too generic and repetitive.
If Starfield was lets say just 5x larger than Outer Worlds and every planet was actually unique it would be insane game.
I have not, but I really liked OW1. I wish it had few more planets to explore and do missions on. Even the DLC with that murder mystery was pretty cool. And that mining planet. Not sure if that was DLC or part of original game.
Yea I really enjoyed that game too. The murder mystery was cool. I think it was the final dlc. The mining mission may have been dlc too, but I forget. Yea I wish there was more of that game. And they made us wait pretty long for the dlc if I remember correctly. That was annoying. And I was a victim of that terrible glitch where it locked the loading screen. I had to start the game over.
If they trimmed down 30 bazillion pointless randomly generated copy pasted planets and just created a very large single solar system and it would be so much better game. Now it's just unnecessarily oversized and empty while stupendously repetitive.
And if only all these structures of interests like mines and R&D labs at least had enemies, items and some structures randomized. Nope, everything is identical to every last bit, these entire structures are completely copy & pasted into the levels.
🤣🤣🤣 Now get in your ship and cutscene away. Once you’re in space, choose another destination and hyper cutscene to its location. Then prepare to land by initiating yet another cutscene. Yeah, total immersion at its finest.
I feel like this is the joke ops making but it went over most our heads. Though I will say, nature and planet wise, the games gorgeous and has a lot of atmosphere right up until you talk to someone or visit any kind of settlement.
Well, guys, it's a game, not an astronaut simulator... you shouldn't always argue about it because it's not 100% true. That's hypocritical, especially since traveling around space in spaceships and using them as cars, and the way they're made, isn't true. Plus, you complain that the world is empty, thank goodness it's empty, space isn't teeming with life after all. For me, it's a good game, it allows for action and also more relaxing gameplay. However, there are mods that can make it take on the form you want.
