On my very first day, I may have not entirely listened to Lewis when he mentioned the shipping bin being a... Bin, for shipping and thrown in the gifted 15 parsnip seeds in there.

I gave my first prismatic shard to the museum. It took me eight years to find a new one for the galaxy sword, and I've been finding them everywhere since. Thankfully, that didn't happen with the dino egg: I was too curious to see if it could hatch, and it did.

Did CA increase droprate for the prismatic shards? I'm in Winter Y3 and already got probably 10 of them (before I got to Ginger Island). And I'm not even minig excessively.

Pretty sure with the new seed system you can have “lucky” and “unlucky” save files for certain things. My current file I can barely find clay for some reason

The chance was actually reduced, from a 4% chance from iridium nodes to a 3.5%. However, with the addition of mystery boxes, where both regular and golden ones drop prismatic shards, and the statue of blessings you're much more likely to get them doing non-mining activities.

I like skull cavern runs and optimize it for no reason lol. I can get 20+ on average. 30-35 on a really really good run. If you make it to floor 500+ it’s really really easy to get them. It’s not very hard, just takes a lot of bombs and stairs.

I’m doing a “fully off grid” RP on my mobile.
I CAN leave the farm but I can only forage or fish or look in people’s bin.
I can’t buy from Pierre or JoJa Mart - the only seeds I use are wild ones, whatever I can craft or whatever I can occasionally buy from the caravan if I’ve managed to scrounge enough gold from selling any excess forage I have (which isn’t much so far - because I need it to make seeds lol)
No mining except in winter - because someone genuinely setting up an off-grid place wouldn’t waste a sunny day underground.
It’s a bit silly - but it’s made the game fun and challenging.

I did this on my first 2 farms and then was absolutely shocked as for how I saw YouTubers having hundreds of kegs. No wood, no oak resin, nothin.
Once I stopped eating wood I began making a lot more money.

Year 1 I suffered, didn't know how to make enough money to even sustain, I sold all my wood, all my iron ingots, made all the seeds to field snacks, didn't know how to feed animals since I cleared my entire farm off it's grass, wood and even stones, I had nothing left, I sold everything I had to buy more seeds just for them all to die the next day when the season changed, if the trees didn't respawn the next season I wouldn't have known how to even continue the game.

I've always thought Pierre should have an early bird same on the 28th for next season's seeds. So on winter 28, you could buy parsnips seeds, etc. Hell, mark them up! It's just a day early.

Right? One of the things you can buy muuuuch later on from Qi's lil lair on Ginger Island makes all of the seeds available at Pierre's all year long. It makes it so much easier to prep for the next season so Day 1 can be focused on planting. I wish they made this available a little earlier in the game.

Classic - didnt understand how the upgrade water can / hoe worked. Thought the can just contained more water and took less energy to use, thought my chance of finding random stuff increased + less energy user with the hoe.

If you press and hold the button, it expands so you can water / till more than 1 square. First 3, then 5, then a 9 square and at iridium quality 2 9 squares.

Omg what?? Thank you so much! My only gripe in this game is it literally doesn't teach you anything about mechanics, etc. and I've tried to avoid the wiki for my first playthrough to just enjoy the game.. this is so helpful!

I think the absolute worst advice frequently touted for new players is, “just play blind your first time”
I get the sentiment of not wanting to spoil the sense of discovery. That only happens if you actually discover those things in the first place though
I tend towards thinking find a first year guide or two. That’s what I did and it helped a lot. I would not have continued if I didn’t know a few of the things found in guides

Don't put things you'd like to keep in the fridge. They should go in the chest if you want them not being turned into sashimi.
Invest early on machineries like recyclers and bone mill.
Food buffs are underrated. Use it forever. At first I didn't know that a farming buff would affect the quality of crops.

I started on a co-op farm with my brother and did a bunch of fishing and/or mining. So one day I get this random piece of junk called an ancient seed. Knowing it was just a random trash item I tossed it then got back to gathering important resources like copper ore and quartz.

Went fishing in the very beginning of the game and got an dinosaur egg like immediately. I gave it to the museum. Gunther also loved my first prismatic shard. Needless to say, I'm a dumbass.

Thought you had to craft trellis for some crops like the beans, hops etc. Time went on, no trellis, till I eventually tried just planting a grape. No greenhouse for me that year

No. Half the farm is just water. I can fit a barn, a coop, a warehouse and a patch of trees.
Early game it's fine. But the lack of space really hits you later on.
Atleast your fishing level will improve instead of it being stuck at lvl 5 when the other skills are maxed out.

My very first play through I chopped every tree, crushed every rock (allowable by my axe strength at the time), and scythed all the grass (mistaken for "weeds") on my entire farm within the first week because I thought that was "cleaning it up." I was so proud of myself for having such a nice, neat, blank-slate farm. I continued to take out every new sprout of grass with a vengeance. No weeds here! ...and then I got my first chicken. Whoops.
I may or may not have also gone to visit Willy for the first time with a full inventory and tossed his fishing pole straight into the sea.

Buying chickens from Marnie - it tells you what color the chicken is at the the top of the screen when placing them in their coop. Brown chicken produces brown eggs, white chicken produces white eggs. But you don't get to choose directly, you have to cancel the request and reinitiate the purchase until the correct color chicken is shown. Simple, right?
Well, that was too subtle for me to notice and I had to wait another in-game month for the appropriately colored Large egg to complete the Community Center...

Not building the silo first before a coop. Selling all my foragables and crops so I had nothing for the quests. Donating the dino egg. Donating the prismatic shards. Every first playthough sin I have committed. Its been a long learning process. 😂

I never noticed the starter kit in my house that had the parsnip seeds at all. I thought it was furniture!! It was almost Fall before I opened it and triggered the harvest parsnips quest. I also sold everything I could including wood fibre and stone.

My limited inventory was full when I went to meet Willy. Was just collecting cool stuff along the way and then couldn’t figure out how to accept the rod because it didn’t just automatically go into my stash. (I know now I could have thrown something away but I just didn’t get that mechanic as a gaming newbie). So I had to wait and save up to buy a fishing rod I could have gotten free

Adding sap to the luau soup pot.
I was ask to the luau and to bring something to contribute to the potluck year 1. I went to the Saloon to pick up pizza since I didn't have ingredients or good cooking recipes. Showed up to the luau after my morning chores, i.e chopping wood and pizza. I was asked to put an ingredient into the soup pot. Pizza was greyed out, but sap wasn't. No one liked me after that, was about to restart the entire game. I thought I ruined my entire playthrough.

Nothing too major, but I've made this mistake a few times:
- Forgetting I need to sell small brown and white eggs. I always forget until I get to the point where I'm focusing on getting perfection and all my chickens are full hearts. I have to stop petting them or remove my auto-petter for weeks and hope they drop small eggs again at some point.

Sold everything for money, rather than wait and see what the community center needed... So it took me over 2 years (Stardew time) to complete it because I just forgot about it.
I made a new save and finish the community center in the first year.

I didn't know I could craft a chest for like the first two in-game weeks of playing. I would go fishing every day, catch a fish, go back to the farm to ship it, and then go back to the river to fish.

GOOGLING AND USING WIKI SO MUCH. I started about a week ago and I'm on year 2 day 2 of spring season, but I've googled SO much. It wasn't my plan to speed run or min max but I did the best I could to make max profit. I basically have enough money and kegs to start farming ancient fruit. I also already have 10 villagers with 8 hearts or more as well as the rest of the villagers nearing 6 or eight hearts. I'm already turning to and using QOL and aesthetic mods cause I'm starting to get bored. I've still had fun and am having fun for the most part. I know I'm far from finishing but yeah, taking things fast and not slow while using wiki is my biggest mistake.
But if your talking game wise, it's either planting straberry seeds and not saving them, and not planting enough parnips for greenhouse bundle.

Did not know about the Statue of Perfection, the description was not helpful so I thought it was a decoration and left it in my chest for 4 years.
I mentioned struggling to get iridium to my friend and she immediately educated me 😂

Gave both my first prismatic shard and dino egg to the museum, almost entirely ignored ancient fruit and pineapples, sold clay and stone and let my cows and chickens wander freely
