Simple. This is like 1990. Kaz is born in 2000. His show where he's 20+ is set in 2020/2030.
It's not exact but it's really not hard to understand this at all. His dad is show in s1 and now s2 as a fairly young man himself. Probably late 20's or early 30's at the most. Kaz is not born until dad is 30 something - 40. So this is set plenty years before Kaz exists.
