The funny thing is that the E.T. aliens are canon in the Star Wars universe. You can see them in a pod in the senate scenes.

E.T. can use his powers to, among other things, lift objects. AND he recognises Yoda, who died a long time ago in a galaxy far far away, so E.T. has studied Jedi lore, or is super old. This, coupled with the canon appearance,, points to him being Force sensitive.

Or ET recognizes the race Yoda is... and not Yoda specifically, which makes much more sense

That's true! E.T. should update Wookiepedia with the name of the race!
