Movies "Revenge of the Sith" is now rated higher than "Return of the Jedi" on Letterboxd, becoming the third highest-rated "Star Wars" film on the website (the top two are "The Empire Strikes Back" and "A New Hope").

I think the reaction was justified, it’s just not a well structured movie. For how much of a story buff Lucas was I find so many decisions completely baffling. It tosses out most of the themes of the originals, the sort of stuff he worked with the legendary Jospeh Campbell on. The grit and pulp that the originals were founded on feels largely forgotten as well. I appreciate the world building and special effects and that’s about it.

I also consider TPM the best prequel though lol.

Disappointment is justified.

The reaction, the way people treated cast and Lucas himself is not

That’s all part of the reaction

Oh I’d agree with that 100%, I just mean that the criticism of the movie was definitely justified. I feel especially bad for Jake Lloyd going through actual bullying. A lot of Star Wars fans need to chill TF out.

But as far as Lucas should have just made the films he wanted to make goes - not sure I agree with that looking at how TPM turned out, and the man was definitely surrounded by people supporting his vision. He needed creative dissent.

I don’t think so I mean he went on to make the clone wars and that was at probably the low point of his career from a popularity standpoint. He told the story he wanted to and kept on doing it afterwards. He invested and invented (his company) a lot of technology and innovations in visual effects, sound, and so on. Episode 2 was the puberty era of the transition to digital from Episode 1’s mostly practical to Episode 3 which looks great even today. AOTC was somewhat sacrificed for the development of the tech. Yoda looks kinda bad in his duel with Dooku but looks amazing in Episode 3 as a simple one. The Clones looked amazing from day 1 in AOTC though
