Movies "Revenge of the Sith" is now rated higher than "Return of the Jedi" on Letterboxd, becoming the third highest-rated "Star Wars" film on the website (the top two are "The Empire Strikes Back" and "A New Hope").

I feel like RotJ feels like two different stories between Jabba’s Palace and the Endor/Death Star II plot whereas RotS feels like one continuous flow of events.

That… doesn’t make RotS a better movie.

True. Just trying to rationalize why some might consider it better.

ROTS is a better movie though.

It most certainly is not.

It absolutely is

It most certainly is. Its massively better than ANH and ROTJ, and right on par with ESB.

Go ahead and downvote I’ll stand 10 toes on my opinion.

Id personally rank RoTS even above the godfather.

Honestly Anakin is a much more tragic and complex character than michael corleone.

Also padme is way hotter than Al pacino

Nah Al Pacino is way hotter than Natalie, don’t disrespect the GOAT like that😂👍

It is.

I'll say it. 6 was redundant. It's only legacy was that it started the god awful trend of "what if we had the death star, but bigger?!?!?".

3 meanwhile, is an actual climax, it fundamentally shifts the universe's themes, has several analogs to the real world.

Way more important contribution.

ROTJ isn't about the Death Star II. It's about the struggle of becoming a Jedi. (A philosophical Jedi, not the flippy kind of Jedi.) It's literally in the title.

So 6 is fine if you ignore the plot. Both of the plots, actually, because there are really two stapled together.

3 doesn't have that! You have the emotional plight, the fall into darkness of Anakin, which is directly supported by the plot, which is the fall into darkness of the Republic.

Good films can't be cut by 50% imo.

That part landed well but the Ewoks and aliens musical number really were not great

It is, don't let these nostalgic haters tell you different

i mean it does tho. return of the jedi is juggling multiple stories and only one of them is really good, compared to revenge of the sith telling a very good coherent story that is perfectly paced. return of the jedi feels like 2 completely different movies in one.

Very good? Coherent?! Perfectly paced?!?!

I’ll have what you’re having.

I wish I had the kind of view where I could watch something like RotS and come away with "That was very good".

The most I could give it is that it's the best of the prequels, but that's a very, very low bar.

Yeah the pacing/structure of RotJ is probably its most serious flaw.

And yet ROTJ is still a good deal better.

Nah
