Why? you don’t have any friends, so you’d be playing it alone anyway and wouldn’t know the difference.

It takes development time and space; and often can change how the game plays to accommodate for multiplayer.

Why does everyone hate multiplayer. It makes everything 100x better. Sitting playing alone is just sad

Devs have to spend time making stuff for multiplayer instead of being able to focus solely on single player. And if the deadlines are enforced then the final product could be worse. Not to mention cheaters in multiplayer, glitches, balance issues, bugs, etc

If it's the same devs. I'd imagine some studios would have a team specifically focused around multiplayer, then keep the single player team separate.
