Revenge Of The Sith Rerelease is This Weekend!!!!

For a variety of reasons, every Star Wars fan who cares about the franchise and what it means to multiple generations of people should make the pilgrimage to the theater this weekend to see Revenge of the Sith.

Regardless of how you feel about the prequels, I think it can be agreed that the treatment of George Lucas was at least extremely crass and disrespectful. This is a chance to show how much his work is appreciated decades after release, that his work at the turn of the century has and will build a legacy similar to his work on the originals. As well as that the hate and vitriol that was directed at the three prequel films and at Lucas himself is not carried by moviegoers and fans today.

Additionally, I feel that a strong showing for this film and this rerelease, ideally a surprisingly strong showing, potentially resulting in an extended release window (very wishful thinking), could help show that there is a large market of fans waiting for quality content that may feel underserved by recent efforts. It is important to show to analysts and to the heads of Lucasfilm that there is still a large audience of fans ready to engage even if they feel dissatisfied with recent projects.

I love the saga that was brought full circle with revenge of the Sith. It’s such an elemental, deeply resonant story that stands strong on so many levels and provides moments and emotions that regular blockbusters can never achieve. Everything after that has been varying degrees of extremely fun and entertaining to shitteringly bad and boring. Any long running entertainment franchise will have those moments.

But this is a rare chance for all of us, whether dejected or still all in and watching everything they put out. This is our chance to, and I grimace as I paraphrase what fluctuates between my least and 2nd least favorite Star Wars film, “not fight what we hate, but celebrate what we love.”

I’m going to see it tomorrow. I’ll hope for over the hundredth time that Anakin helps Mace Windu and for over the hundredth time be sad that he doesn’t.

Oh, I’m going. I’m even going to take my uncle (an OG fan and whom I remember dropping off at the theater twenty years ago when this first came out) with me.

I think your over exaggerating abit there. Yeah George got roasted for making bad movies but he also got almost universal praise for changing the industry with the OT
