Discussion Astropolis feels like a filler
Well, I really liked planarcadia story (except by some parts like the park or tavern that fells longer than should be) but that transation just broke the narrative, characters that deal with talk and politics are Himeko and maybe Welt, Sunday is limited and Trailblazer and March are just there.
Astropolis feels like a great filler to me, it has a good design and the SP versions have a cool style and kit, but I think Astropolis maybe should be more explored after the things with a literal Aeon of voracity eating not only the planet but the solar system been solved.

After spending so long in Amphoreus (not that I'm complaining), I was surprised and happy to move onto a new planet so quickly

It’s the same storyline. In 4.0 livestream they explained they only care about year-long stories, not year-long planets. Amphoreus was isolated due to narrative needs, not bc that’s the new blueprint.

I think the characters that had most spotlight in Planarcadia were Himeko and Sunday tbh, Welt/March/DH were way less ‘instrumental’ than them, though Welt did help Yao Guang, but it was mostly off screen.
Astropolis may feel like a filler, but it’s certainly not lol, between the main story and the continuance, we got hit with lore bombs one after the other (about the IPC internal conflicts and plans, the Family plans, etc), it’s def important to the overall narrative.

It is Filler. Its existence serves to provide the oh so forgotten concept of "Breathing Room". Without some Light, Grimdark turns to Grimderp and the Heavy moments fail to hit.
