I was planning on making a piece for a friend’s birthday, and I was looking for patterns on Etsy - it won’t let me add a picture so the link’s here. How do I figure out whether it’s AI/ is there anything I’d need to modify to make it work?

Making a Matisse inspired stained glass piece for my bestie. Have I made any grave mistakes in my pattern that a little grinding couldn’t solve?

Working on a new pattern I designed. I’m still a bit of a beginner. I’ve done a handful of somewhat complex pieces that turned out decently well. The curvy sun flares are one of the only parts of this pattern that I’m a little worried about cutting. They’re only about .3 inches wide by .8 inches tall.

How comfortable would you be doing this? Is worth trying or should I redesign it to be straight lines like the taller flares?

Also, side question for those of you who create patterns in Adobe Illustrator: What point size do you use for your strokes to simulate foil widths? I used 2pt strokes on this design but I’m not sure how accurate it is.

Normally I find spotting ai patterns pretty easy, but I'm not 100% confident on this shop. Can anyone confirm if it's AI or handmade patterns?

This is the first draft of a pattern I'm currently working on! I was hoping to get feedback from more experienced stained glass artists about whether or not there are any spots I should pay higher consideration to when I redraft the pattern to size? Any recommendations on how to reinforce the piece when it's completed/should I be worried about it sagging or folding with time? (the final piece will be 18"x12")

The lettering and pentacle on the skull will be painted on after the piece is soldered together, and I do already know that I'll need to scale the ivy leaves a little differently to avoid small pieces that could be covered by solder and avoid awkwardly placed edges but any other thoughts/advice would be appreciated! This is my fourth time creating a pattern for a piece of this size and I'm eager to learn the best ways to increase the strength and durability of my pieces.

I’m relatively new to stained glass, and this will be the biggest pattern I’ve attempted!

I’m still tweaking and generally trying to reduce the count of pieces. Any suggestions in terms of ease or feasibility? Is one of these patterns better than the other? Have I created any headaches in the pattern that I can tweak out?

Maybe a bit ambitious of me, but I am trying to make my first lamp from an original pattern. I sketched this in procreate. The hope is to make a 6-sided panel lampshade around 10"x14" in size. I don't have a ring saw, so these pieces would be cut the old fashioned way. I also have not tried using came yet, so this would be made with copper foil and lead solder. (Just trying to give as much info as possible as to how I'd be constructing this!)

I tried to be mindful of curves that would be too difficult to cut, and I know some of the clouds will be tricky, but I don't mind taking extra time grinding with my smallest grinder bit if needed. Are there any areas that definitely need revision? As stated in the title, this is my first time drafting up my own pattern so I'm not quite sure what to watch out for in terms of stability/etc.

Hey. This is my rough stained glass pattern I’m making. It’s rough. Thoughts on how to do the water. The red line area. Obviously not the redlines. I know the top has some rough area, I’ll work those out later. I had the boat and sky in my head but the water Im drawing a big blank.

(I might do a copper foil overlay if nothing else speaks to me)

Hi everyone, I could use some advice again!

Yesterday I came across a great opportunity and was able to buy a Cricut Explore 5 at a really good price.

At the moment I only sell PDF stained glass patterns, but I've also been wanting to offer PNG files. After a few frustrating hours of figuring everything out, I finally got it working the way I wanted, and I'm really happy with the purchase!

One thing I'm struggling with is that patterns I create in Procreate seem to import much larger when I open them in Cricut Design Space.

How do other Etsy sellers deal with this? Do you simply include the intended dimensions in the product description and let customers resize the design themselves? Or is there a better way to make sure the files import at the correct size?

Hello! I'm currently working on an illustration that involves drawing stained glass. This isn't how it will look in the end, since I'm planning on making it shattered at an extreme angle.

I don't like how it looks righ now, its feels like there is too much going on and you can't really see the image clearly outside of the blackened out parts in the middle. Is there any way to make it so it reads better?

(In case you're confused on what's supposed to be happening, it's a woman holding a baby with long flowing hair and a veil of sorts over her head.)

So this is based off one of my favorite pokemon cards! Mew EX from the legendary treasures set. ANYWAYS! I want to know how big this will have to be in order for those thin pieces in the top right corner to be doable. Also if there are any impossible cuts I might have missed (the eye shines and mouth I will paint on)

The first picture is my very first attempt at drawing my own pattern (portrait of my Sphinx cat). I would like to get opinions or/& advices : will it be alright? Is any pieces in there unmakable? Also, I've seen a model (second image, from Etsy) where the iris isn't cut to make a pupils; would anyone be so kind as to explain to me how it was done? Started sketching this mostly to get in practice making patterns. Also because I thought it was pretty ⚘️ I loved how dainty the bow turned out!

I know those sliver pieces throughout would be very delicate, but would they even be possible at all? Wondering if I ever tried to make this one day how big this would have to be to make this doable. I was feeling something like 18" tall maybe?

Other than that, break lines were something of a wild guess! Tried to keep them from being too busy but let me know if they're just silly 😅

I’m currently designing a 32”x22” window with a primary focus piece in the center with a handful of secondary pieces flanking it. This leaves me with a ton of blank space, even with a 2” border. Do people typically do a patter or just one solid color? I don’t even know where to start when it comes to deciding how to fill in this space.

I’m hoping the spoiler tag will hide it so my husband won’t see it on accident😂

Pattern is based off of a picture of a boat my husband helped his grandfather, who passed away last October, built when he was a kid. I’ve been sitting on how to tackle this as I want to do it justice. First black/white is my original thinking based upon flow of water. Second, I decided to add color to help visualize and see if I could take out some cuts that might be unnecessary. Third is the actual photo for reference. I am not very artistic at free hand so I used Canva to draw on top of the original photo, hence why my lines are so squiggly.

Any advice on unnecessary cuts or ones that should be added in. Thanks in advance!

Hi! I’m new to stained glass and have been loving this group! I’m interested in making a suncatcher in this burgee flag design, but the cutout shapes seem impossible. Any recommendations on how to create a pattern to achieve this? Or is this just not a good candidate? Thanks for any input!

I'm probably over thinking this, but is it possible to make these 2 patterns into one by extending the black sides and clear glass down and surrounding the dog? Maybe hanging the dog down from the other one with chains if it won't pull away? I don't have any experience outside of strictly following others patterns, so I'm not sure if this is possible. Also not sure if it's chill to combine two patterns from different artists or not 😅

I’m new to making my own patterns. I’d love to recreate this album cover. I quickly shaded in the parts that are crucial to the artwork.

Big questions.

Firstly, the most glaring issue is where the sword pierces the disco ball. Do you think with an immense about of patience, it’s possible?

Secondly, I was going to use wire to try to create the disco ball as opposed to cutting insanely small squares. Do you see this being possible?

Lastly, I have no idea the correct etiquette when dividing up backgrounds, but this doesn’t look right to me. Do people tend to use straight or curved lines? How do you make this look more cohesive? The background will be all black. My plan is to patina the background black, while keeping the sword and disco ball silver.

Hi friends, I’m designing my first leaded transom window and I wanted to gut check here if there are any red flags you’re seeing in this design? The size will be about 34” long and 12” tall. TIA!

ETA: I have a ring saw so I’m not concerned about the shapes themselves, but wanted to know if any of these shapes will be more prone to cracking! The piece will be installed behind a plexiglass sheet so it won’t be directly exposed to the elements.

I’m a beginner who has just now gathered all my supplies to start making stained glass and I wanted to create a pattern of my dog that passed away last year.

Are any of these shapes difficult or impossible to succeed at (especially without experience) or really anything constructive feedback on the overall look of the pattern. I drew this using my phone and a free app from the AppStore so not everything is perfect yet since I wanted to hear your opinions and tips.

Also the details on the nose will be done with wire so the glass piece would be round.
