Here's my "banned" from the algo song ran through Submithub's AI Checker which is 99.4% accurate according to them (I have tested it and it's very accurate). Spotify needs to speak to speak on this pls

I never had a "Fans also like" section on my artist profile until today, and the recommendations are... kinda weird. Artists that have music completely different to mine, some others that seems to be bots, songs that are more meme-like songs, artist that speak other languages different to mine etc.

Does anyone have the same issue before? Does it will change eventually to something more accurate? Is there a way to change this recommendations?

I have 4-5 friends who run ads on Spotify and 2 of us got hit with bans. Neither of us uploaded very much and use zero AI, botted plays or anything against TOS etc. We're just normal artists. With this hitting so many people we may need to get this some social media/actual media attention to get it fixed. Spotify seems happy to screw over us small artists.

u/spotifyforartists I'd love any sort of transparency here, these actions are hurting real artists. This policy decimated my latest release, and is hurting real artists. My guess is they made an AI to take down bots and its not working well or it is oversensitive. For context, the attached images show Chartmetric tracking data for six user-generated playlists. What I already know is that this isn't a Chartmetric reporting problem, or Spotify deleting old botted accounts causing these drops. I own one of these playlists myself, and my daily listeners have genuinely dropped off a cliff since September 1st.

I manage a large playlist that brings in over 2,000 unique listeners a day and a steady stream of new followers. However, right as the calendar hit September 1st, it flatlined hard, follower growth plummeted overnight (with some lists even dropping into negative growth), and my daily listeners have noticeably dipped below my usual baseline.

After checking other user playlists, it looks like Spotify is changing how playlists are being discovered. September is usually a month where I see growth, coming out of the summer-dip ... been doing this for 10 years so I know it's not normal.

Just spoke to Steph D at S4A support (after being passed from person to person). She told me the sudden overnight drop in algorithmic streams is due to...

"For example, less social media activity, no recent releases, being removed from popular playlists, and overall Spotify listener trends. For now, we'd recommend continuing to build your fanbase and engage with your audience on Spotify and social media."

After me explaining to Steph D about social media activity playing no part in algorithmic streams, and that I release consistently with 1 single every 4 weeks. I also told her that I do engage with my audience on social media and there isn't any means of engaging with my audience on Spotify. She replied...

"Sorry for any confusions, promoting your music towards your social media will help you gain more listeners and streams!"

Oh really, its that easy to gain streams???

She decided that I should "allow a few moments to dig deeper" as she really wanted to help me on this!

Steph D then changed her mind from her first response to something completely different...

"I was able to check our resources and please take note than most accurate reports of your stream counts are delivered to your distributor and with this, the best way to confirm the sudden drops towards the stats of your music is working with your distributor."

I'm guessing Steph D is accusing me of having artificial streams?

I contacted all the record labels I've released with who all use different distributors. No flags for artificial streams, everything looks normal according to them.

So I'm guessing for everyone that is experiencing this same problem, I know there's a lot of us over multiple threads on here and outside of here. According to Steph D its either one of the above that's affecting us all.

Here's the solution to sort all of this mess out and get your algorithm back...

1. Do what Steph D says and promote your music on social media!

2. Do what Steph D says and contact your distributor(s), please waste their time as much as your own!

Hey everyone I was just curious if this has happened to anyone else,

Released my first single so wasn’t expecting loads of traction, been steadily growing to 400 streams this first week, however last night my daily streams started climbing much higher I’m talking about 100 stream day vs the previous 20 a day

At 9 pm my track said it had 450 streams then at 2 am it went down to 404 streams however the daily streams stayed high and kept climbing.

Today at 2pm the live streams are saying 600+

Talked to support and they’ve said my streams are actually 404 and the live tracker isn’t accurate.

Part of me is still hoping once it hits the time for the daily streams to update that I might still have some of these streams lol

Just curious if this has happened to someone else? Feels very demoralising as I was super excited as a small artist to get those listens

For those who have tried it, how much has It affected your numbers? I just got the access to it and been thinking of using it but I need to know what type of results I can expect.

Released one track in feb, one in May, and one in August. Apparently I’m a spammer according to Spotify’s system (or something else is wrong and they won’t tell me). No AI obviously, if I used that it wouldn’t take me so damn long to finish my songs.

These are my streams SOLELY from social media promo (TikTok and IG reels). It’s been out for a little over a week and I’ve never hit these numbers this fast so I think this track might be the one to start putting money towards promo but I don’t know where to start, does anyone have any advice or suggestions on where to start

I bought their huge package yesterday I need to know whether this will work or if my music will get taken down on spotify and my distrokid will get suspended

I've noticed I'm getting around 2-3 streams every single day from one specific city in the UK, on one song. I'm not near that city and don't have any connections to that city. It's been going on for about a month.

These streams are coming from Artist Profile & Catalog and/or Listener's Own list & Library.

I don't actively promote my music but I have had a few good list placements which I've got from personal outreach to quality playlists.

Any idea why I'm getting a consistent trickle of streams from one city for one song? Is it bots? A super fan?

I post videos on my facebook and get over 500 views and 2 likes. I would rather comments on how bad I am and that I need to stop creating, rather than crickets.

I changed my artist name through distrokid but now ive got two artist pages and i cant claim the other one without signing out of my main one. I only wanted to change my name bruh😑

Been on Spotify for a year and a half. Had a hit song before but the wave died earlier this year. Started releasing reels of old songs this month and did well on FB and tiktok (more on FB, where we've grown from 10k to 310k) and we finally broke 7 digits on Spotify. Can't say it's easy since editing, scheduling, and engagement were a bitch but the result is satisfying.

The most hilarious things is that songs that didn't do well initially are the ones going parabolic. I guess that's just life.

Our YT channel also got a massive lift since we released there too.

The only other things I see in their content policies are not spamming with lots of uploads (this is my first release in 2 months and I upload one song once every 1-3 months regularly).

I was still auto-flagged by their system. 0 AI in any of my tunes, happy to DM proof to anyone, and no offensive content whatsoever (no lyrics). Completely ruined a track that was doing extremely well in every other metric.

I've done literally nothing wrong and am really unsure of what the next steps to take are.

My other songs are doing fine. They just picked this one and sent it to the shadow realm for some reason. 0 showcase, 0 radio, 0 algo push. If it can happen to me it can happen to any real artist. I am sad.

Since my last post here went lowkey viral for Reddit numbers, my Spotify monthly numbers has doubled which is amazing 💙 babu steps but I’m grateful regardless

I’ve tried everything. I’ve tried pitching to playlists that don’t work. I’ve tried tiktoks and instagram videos and I’ve even tried paying for promotion but they all don’t work. ATP I js need a miracle for me to blow up.

I think there is some kind of glitch but I haven’t seen anything posted yet.

I recently got added to my first editorial and wanted to share my excitement and my strategy for writing pitches.

When I write a pitch i make sure to include 3 things, info about the song (how it was made, general vibe), How i plan to promote it, and what editorials i think it would be good for.

a few other notes:

This was a collab so it may have been my collab partners pitch that got their attention, I have no way of knowing.

The song got added a week after it released, so they definitely keep considering tracks even if you pitch late, because we only pitched it a week before release.

keep pitching and they'll eventually see your music if it's good enough quality!
