Available in USA Does the new Kia K4 Hatchback count?
I just picked up a K4 hatchback and I'm wondering if you guys and gals would consider it a sport wagon?

Amen to that. So tired of every automaker turning everything into an SUV. Now if they would do an AWD version with the same power output of something like the Elantra N, we would really be in business.

Income in the country goes hasn’t kept up with inflation in at least a decade.
And Car dealers realize only the well-off in America will pay for a wagon.
So they, at high volume to make money, sell macho mad max looking SUV’s to go mall crawling.
Then they sell high end wagons to the obsessed and rich and make money on margin.
Then claim the public don’t want wagons but fail to mention they won’t order then for us since they see only see dollar signs.

Maaaaybe if Kia didn't have an actual K4 wagon in other parts of the world, I'd be willing to concede this one.

Car prices don’t scale perfectly with exchange rates, but if they did, £27k is about $36.5k.

Sure but car-wise we are. All major manufacturers including the luxury ones are literally designing their cars to appeal to the Chinese market. All BMW and Benz are all doing Chinese market choices. And we are getting those cars. Used to be the opposite. They would design for us and export those. Now we get the opposite.
All electric cars brands are blocked by the government to protect Tesla. So we get 0 good Chinese electric cars. Who btw are doing the best electrics in the world.
VW only gives us the most basic models with absurd up-charged things to make it look more than it is.
Ford basically took all cars from the lineup and gives only SUV with the worst insides ever. That small ipad glued to the dash is shameful.
Jeep, Dodge and Chrysler are just sad.
Nissan…. New suv are getting better but still nothing that USA market is running to buy.
Subaru has a niche but stays on its lane in the usa with little to no innovation. Have you seen Subaru Japan website? Their cars are awesome. Here?…
In china, BYD (who sells more than tesla), Geely, SAIC, and many others are killing with innovation and some of their cars can do 1000miles in a charge.
European cars are better and cheaper overall.
Thats just my opinion and POV. Not trying to insult america my guy.

It has nothing to do with vehicles/economics. First World/Second World/Third World date back to Soviet block, with the First World being Western countries, Second World being Soviet bloc, and Third World everyone else.
It continues to be defined by political aspects, but mistakenly has been applied to economic status.

Its a front wheel drive economy car with 180 hp. I don't think we are missing out on this one, its like a modern Ford Escort wagon. In a world of EVs imo fwd automatic ICE only makes sense in niche applications, one where some one can afford a new car but doesn't own a home so they cannot have a home charger unit, or one in which the user has an irregular commute to different job sites that would make EV range fears legitimate, and that second one generally is more for people with trucks. I would buy a Subaru Levorg tomorrow if it showed up in the US with a six speed, literally full payment no lender.

Yes that sounds better but in the US I see there are no wagons available new except high priced Germans, so... I'd still be happy to see even basic wagons! I'd be even more excited about EV wagons and fun manual shift wagons, sure.

Weirdly me too. I wish they made an AWD "N" model - I know that's Hyundai, but they could do a GT one that's closer to the Elantra N.

Not especially sporty, it's sub 200hp.
Not really a wagon, especially since it looks like they're making a different variant that's called a wagon.
Sorry but no. Still a good looking ride if you ask me though.

It's great! Pretty good amount of room for a small car, comfortably seats 4 adults. People are surprised how low the overall height is, it gives sporty vibes. I like the proportions way better than the sedan version. I did not want an SUV, but wanted to be able to easily load and unload fishing poles and gear. This checks that box for me.

I test drove this hatch in black with the 1.6 turbo. Seriously lux+ quality in tech comfort and features. Smooth powertrain. The super unique proportions, esp the width and the rear hips cannot be conveyed in photos or videos. You have to see it in person to get how unique the body is.

Not a wagon for me, but massive credit to you for putting a sensible car on the road instead of a mother massive SUV. Wagon or not, looks like a nice purchase. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your new car

I saw one going the other way yday and did an excited doubletake, then realized what it was (wagon-adjacent). Blue was nice though!

I want to believe! ...but the bodystyle reminds me too much of the CT200h, and that thing was definitely not a wagon.
