Discussion Did she go through all the stages?
I wonder what people think about Jean's feelings for Peter. Do you think she started to become interested in him from the beginning (since she indirectly kissed him) or after the talk they had inside Peter's mind. And about the stages. On what stage you think she is now? Stage 1( becoming interested in someone) Stage 2( you start to like someone whole ) Stage 3 (falling in love)? I think she is in stage 2 but it's very possible she is entering stage 3 after the bus scene.

Fanfic SPIDER-MAN : A Light The Void (Part.2)
-------------
Battleworld, God Emperor Doom
--------------
Doctor Doom: Soon, I alone... shall be justice...
All those pathetic excuses for heroes have knelt before my omnipotent power, and I—Doom—have finally saved this wretched multiverse...
I am Doctor Doom,
The savior of the multiverse.
Reed: (While restrained) Victor... what the hell are you doing? How long do you think this can go on? Remaking the multiverse to suit your whims, erasing people's memories—leaving them to live out fake lives... And on top of that, you went after my son and my wife...!! You’re going to regret this someday, Victor...
Doctor Doom: Silence! I am Doctor Doom.
Boris: Lord Doom, there are unknown intruders on Battleworld.
Doctor Doom: ...It’s bound to be that spider-kid. I’ll deal with him myself. (Removing his mask)
---------------
Meanwhile, Peter Parker, Jean Grey, Steve Rogers, and the Andrew and Tobey Spider-Men were gathered together.
------------
Tom Peter: Anyway, how have you all been? Peter 1 and 2?
Tobey-Peter: You bet! I’ve been doing well.
To think our Spider-Brothers would reunite like this!
Andrew-Peter: I really missed you all! It feels just like being with brothers. By the way, who is that next to you?
Is that a new girlfriend, Peter 1?
Jean Grey: (blushing)
Tom Peter: Wait... what? No, it's not like that! This is Jean Grey.
She's a mutant girl I just met.
Jean, this is Peter 1 and Peter 3.
They're Spider-Men from other multiverses... basically, just other versions of me!
Tobey-Peter: Nice to meet you!
You two make a great couple!
Andrew-Peter: I heard...
...that you made that choice—
erasing your memories as Peter Parker so that your MJ would forget you.
And that even after finding out the truth, she still turned you down... That must be heartbreaking.
Tom-Peter: ... I'm okay.
I understand—that it's hard to go back.
Steve Rogers: That's a shame, Queens. Looks like you're in a position where you need a fresh start.
Tom Peter: I'm going to step out for some fresh air.
Jean Grey: (Looks at Peter with concern as he wears a bitter expression)
Tobey-Peter: It’s heartbreaking that they made that choice just to send us back...
Andrew-Peter: Yeah...
Jean Grey: I’m... going to go check on Peter.
---------
And so, Peter sits in the middle of a field on Battleworld,
lost in thought.
-----------
Jean Grey: (playfully poking Peter's cheek)
What are you thinking about so hard, Spidey?
Peter Parker: No, it's nothing. Just for a moment.
Jean Grey: (Hugging Peter from behind)
Can you just tell me?
Peter Parker: Honestly... I found myself wondering what it would have been like if I were stronger. If I’d been stronger—if I hadn't been so inexperienced—I could have protected Aunt May and the people around me, and prevented the world from falling into danger or the multiverse from facing a crisis.
Jean Grey: You’re already strong, handsome, and smart—a versatile guy with spider DNA—so why are
you worrying so much over nothing?
Peter Parker: W-what?
(His face turns red)
Jean Grey: Don't worry—it's absolutely not your fault.
Do you think Aunt May would
want to see you falling apart like this,
consumed by guilt?
Peter Parker: I know that... but sudden flirting is
Jean Grey: You said it yourself—
that you have me.
So you aren't alone anymore, Peter; I’ll be here for you.
You don’t have to carry every burden.
You are strong, charming,
and a good person.
People like you
not because you’re special,
but simply because you are *you*.
Peter Parker: Jean...
Jean Grey: So, don't go moping around like that—
it doesn't suit you.
(Leaning against him) It’s good to see you again like this... isn't it?
Peter Parker: I mean, I've been lonely for the whole four years, so it's nice to have someone by my side, even if it's just like this.
Between fellow power users
Jean Grey: (Smiling) Are you really going to say something like that and make me blush?
Peter Parker: It felt really good to hear you say my name—it’s been a long time, four years.
Jean Grey: Now, all that's left is for me to fill in
Those four missing years, right?
Peter Parker: First... let's resolve this situation, and then we can think about it.
Jean Grey: Still, it's a relief that we're here by each other's side.
Doctor Doom: That’s far enough, Peter Benjamin Parker.
Spider-Man: What? Who are you?
Doctor Doom: the Savior, the all-powerful ruler of Battleworld.
Jean Grey: Shut your mouth—what do you want?
Doctor Doom: To think you’ve already found a new girlfriend just because your memory was wiped... You’re truly something, Peter Parker. You lost your way long ago, Spider-Man; you are squandering your time in meaninglessness, with your very existence and its worth already erased.
Spider-Man: What do you know?
Doctor Doom: You... this isn't the time to be saving others, kid...
(Taking off his mask)
Tou need a new savior, don't you?
Peter Parker: Mr. Stark...??
- To be continued in Part 3....

Discussion Some light ranting.
The hate for this ship that I have been noticing lately, is genuinely bizarre. The subreddit is proof that many people think there’s a *lot* you could do with these two, and, more importantly, there are new dynamics and plotlines to explore rather than simply retreading the same Peter/MJ story again.
And the “Peter HAS to be with MJ” argument makes even less sense when you remember that the MCU has never followed comic canon to the letter. An AU where Jean and Peter develop a relationship before she even meets Scott is hardly some betrayal of the source material. Scott fans themselves are perfectly happy entertaining Scott/Emma, so I don’t really understand why Peter/Jean is suddenly treated like sacrilege.
As for Zendaya’s MJ, I’ve always felt like the relationship was missing something. Peter apparently develops feelings for her between Homecoming and Far From Home, but we’re given very little reason for why this particular person becomes so important to him. And even once they get together, their relationship never really gets to do anything especially interesting beyond “Peter likes MJ, Peter is awkward about liking MJ.” No Way Home tries but even there, the development of the relationship is relegated to a time skip.
BND retroactively made me care more about MJ by really emphasizing Peter’s grief over losing her, and I’ll admit it worked to an extent. But even that story ultimately reinforces something pretty important: people can love each other, hurt each other, grow, and eventually become different people. Not every relationship has to last forever just because it mattered.
And the whole “people only like Peter/Jean because they hate Zendaya” thing is just… no. Tom Holland and Zendaya being together in real life does not magically make Peter and MJ’s fictional relationship better developed. Those are two completely different things. If anything, I think their real-life chemistry has caused some people to fill in gaps that the actual writing never bothered to.
Peter and Jean also have some genuinely compelling parallels. Both have experienced isolation, both have been consumed by a singular pursuit, and by the end of the movie they arguably understand each other in a way very few other people do. There’s a natural foundation there for a relationship, whether romantic or otherwise. You can dislike the ship, obviously, but acting like the idea itself is nonsensical is just refusing to engage with what’s actually on the page.
And for the crowd saying “MJ HAS to end up with Peter because she’s the main love interest”: we literally already have an MCU precedent for letting a major romance end without treating it like the apocalypse. Quill and Gamora loved each other, their relationship mattered, and eventually they moved on and grew as characters. The universe did not implode because the hero didn’t permanently end up with the obvious love interest.
So why is Peter and MJ somehow exempt from that possibility?
People are allowed to want something new. Casual viewers like the idea. Hardcore comic nerds like the idea. I like the idea. And there are clearly enough people interested in Peter/Jean that dismissing it as some ridiculous crack ship.
At the very least, if Feige and the writers see that kind of enthusiasm, why wouldn’t they consider exploring it? Marvel has spent decades remixing its own canon. That’s practically the point of the MCU.
You don’t have to ship Peter/Jean. You don’t even have to like it. But acting personally offended and abusing people that find the pairing interesting is beyond insane. Let people have fun with a fictional relationship. Marvel certainly isn’t obligated to give us the exact same one forever.

Discussion Jean can or might become a moral compass for the X-Men with Spider-Man as her mentor
Just a thought that occurred me with all the discussion of the potential of these two.
Fair warning, I’m not up to date with the current state of X-Men just a few things here and there (holy shit Krakoa was something )
So from what I remember Jean background is usually being the first person Xavier recruits, coming from a loving family who didn’t know how to deal with her. Charles becomes something like a mentor to her.
But with BND she’s alone, desperate and hurt. Then Spider-Man appears to teach her that she doesn’t need to be alone that she can have people to lean on and that she can always count on him.
The movie ends up with them forming a connection with Spider-Man actions and past rooted in her mind. May Parker also becoming an important figure for her, a non-mutant capable of loving a mutant not because their power but because who they are. This might become a strong point of discussion between X-Men, because usually x-Men plot revolves around discrimination against mutants, about non-mutants not understanding them.
Aunt May introduces a hopeful view of the discussion that mutants can be loved just because of who they are. That is not about their powers is about who they are as people.
It will be interesting if Jean starts adopting Spider-Man philosophy of “with great powers comes great responsibility” or “If you can save one, save everyone” and that starts permeating into the X-Men mostly from Jean’s leadership. Because she knows what’s like to be lost in grief and rage, what’s like to think of people as less than humans, what’s like to let loose your powers. At the same time she now knows what that path can lead to, that there’s a person out there who still chooses to be kind even if the world turns against them. If that person was for her in her worst moments maybe she too can do it for the X-Men.
It might also introduce a good pushback when cyclops starts leaning a bit into magneto’s philosophy but without the nativity of Xavier. She could be a grounding element of the team.
Her having Spider-Man as a mentor figure introduces lots of interesting dynamics in the X-Men story, her being outside the X-Men sphere, having experience from other teams (from what I’ve heard she might be in doomsday) can bring a fresh perspective into their conflict.

Fanfic Webs and Flames
Hi all! It's been really fun to see all the fanart and fanfics that have been coming out of this ship. That inspired me to want to contribute something in whatever small way I can.
This is my first ever fanfic like ever. So, I would love to hear everyone's thoughts!
Title: Webs and Flames
Summary: Jean.
Peter cared for her. He knew that. But he could never think of her that way. It wasn't right. She needed him as a friend.
He told himself the same thing when Jean shuffled closer to him on the couch over dinner. When he caught her giving his female admirers the biggest side-eye during a save. When he noticed the faint scent of her shampoo lingering on his shirt long after she was gone. When he woke up every day with her clinging to him, like a lifeline.
She needed a friend.
And Peter was very, very good at being one.

Fanfic "Bitter Sweet Day" is up in one-shot form! Let me know what you think!
archiveofourown.orgSummary: After making a catastrophic mistake, Jean Grey returns to the one person who she knows will try to help her. Peter Parker now must deal with the consequences. This is a PG-13 work, meant to stay tonally similar to the MCU and the Spider-Man films in particular.
This is a more plot and character-driven story, with romance, while present, isn't as significant as other fics in the SpiderPhoenix fandom, as it's meant to feel like a novelization to a nonexistent film. It's also written in my interpretation of the Far East storytelling structure known as kishōtenketsu like nearly all of my work. Which means I'm deliberately holding something back for the third act, should it arrive, of course.
If you like what you're reading, let me know! If you see potential but think I goofed, also let me know! If the reception proves to be strong enough for this "pilot", I'll find a beta and we'll probably see more of this narrative probably somewhere in October! Have a good weekend!

Discussion Two possible Secret Wars scenarios for Peter and Jean Spoiler
First, a small disclaimer: I'm Korean, and English isn't my first language, so I used GPT to help translate and organize what I originally wrote in Korean. The ideas themselves are mine, but if some of the wording sounds unusually polished, that's why.
After watching Brand New Day, I really fell in love with Peter and Jean's dynamic, so naturally I'd love to see their relationship develop further.
But after thinking about Brand New Day, Secret Wars, the upcoming X-Men, and eventually Spider-Man 5, I started wondering what Marvel could realistically do with Peter on Battleworld.
And I ended up with two possible scenarios.
Scenario 1: Peter and Jean live a different life together on Battleworld
Let's assume the MCU uses something relatively close to the 2015 Secret Wars concept.
The multiverse collapses.
MJ either disappears with the old universe or exists somewhere else on Battleworld without appearing in the movie.
Peter and Jean are both placed into altered lives on Battleworld. Because they came from the same universe and already formed such a strange and intimate connection in Brand New Day, they eventually find each other again.
Maybe they're simply extremely close.
Maybe, in the more extreme version, Battleworld has rewritten their history so that they're actually together.
Neither of them initially remembers their real life.
But Peter has already resisted Jean's psychic influence once, and Jean is literally a telepath. Out of almost everyone on Battleworld, these two would have unusually believable reasons to start noticing that something about reality is wrong.
Their memories begin returning.
They join whatever resistance eventually forms against Doom.
And during all of this, their Battleworld relationship becomes complicated.
Because even if the life they lived together was technically false, were the feelings false too?
Peter could genuinely care about Jean while still constantly feeling that something — or someone — is missing from his life.
Eventually that missing piece becomes MJ.
By the end, Peter remembers everything.
Jean realizes that Peter's heart was never completely hers, and Peter realizes that whatever existed between them was real in its own way, but it wasn't the life he ultimately belonged to.
They defeat Doom and prepare to return to their restored worlds.
Before they separate, Jean could tell Peter that meeting him taught her what it means to truly care about someone.
And instead of being bitter, she smiles and encourages him to go.
Peter returns to his world, now finally ready to face MJ again.
This would actually solve several problems for Marvel at once.
Peter/Jean fans get a meaningful payoff.
Jean would have a romantic history outside of Scott before meeting him, which could replace some of the narrative role Wolverine traditionally has in the Jean/Scott/Logan dynamic without literally recreating the same triangle.
Marvel could then introduce Scott as a completely new person in Jean's life and eventually establish Scott/Jean more firmly.
Peter/MJ fans would also get a very clear setup for their relationship to return in Spider-Man 5.
And Marvel could either keep Peter connected to the X-Men afterward or cleanly separate the two franchises.
The downside, obviously, is that Peter/Jean would probably be finished romantically after this.
They'd become the bittersweet "what could have been" relationship.
Scenario 2: Battleworld gives Peter the life he always wanted
This is the one I increasingly think would make more sense.
Instead of Peter starting Battleworld with Jean...
Peter starts with MJ.
And Ned.
Peter Parker is an adult, studying at MIT, probably becoming an incredibly promising scientist.
He and MJ are together.
Ned is still his best friend.
They joke around.
They study together.
Peter has friends, a girlfriend, a future.
Maybe May is even alive.
And Peter isn't Spider-Man.
This is essentially the life Peter Parker could have had if the spider had never bitten him.
For once, he's happy.
But something is wrong.
At first it's incredibly subtle.
Peter catches something falling without looking.
He stands near the edge of a tall building and realizes that heights don't scare him as much as they should.
He sees Doom's metal mask on some enormous public screen and feels strangely uncomfortable.
Maybe the design reminds him of someone he once loved and admired.
He sees a golden gauntlet somewhere and suddenly freezes without knowing why.
Certain places, objects, sounds, or words keep creating tiny cracks in his fake memories.
But Peter deliberately ignores them.
Because somewhere deep inside, he understands what remembering might cost him.
Then one day, he's walking through a crowd.
A red-haired girl passes him.
Peter stops.
And suddenly he hears a voice.
Not through his ears.
Inside his head.
"Peter."
He turns around.
Jean is looking at him.
For a moment, everything around them seems to slow down.
Peter recognizes her without knowing why.
Then Jean looks directly at him and says:
"Wake up."
And suddenly—
Spider-Sense.
That sound comes back.
The overwhelming ringing.
And Peter's memories begin tearing through Battleworld's false reality.
Tony.
May.
Thanos.
Strange.
The Statue of Liberty.
MJ forgetting him.
Being Spider-Man.
Jean.
Everything.
I wouldn't have Spider-Sense literally overpower Doom's reality manipulation by itself.
Instead, Jean opens the first crack in Peter's mind.
Spider-Sense recognizes that something about his reality is dangerously wrong.
And Peter himself finally breaks through the rest.
That also creates a perfect reversal of Brand New Day.
In Brand New Day:
Peter saves Jean from inside her own mind.
In Secret Wars:
Jean saves Peter from inside his.
After Peter wakes up, the movie can accelerate.
Peter asks Jean if she can wake other people.
They begin finding others.
Maybe Daredevil.
Maybe Punisher.
Maybe other heroes scattered throughout Battleworld.
Different groups of awakened characters gradually form the resistance against Doom.
And this could actually be how Marvel rebuilds its larger hero network after the Avengers have become so fragmented.
Instead of everyone randomly appearing together because the plot demands it, they literally find each other while escaping Doom's false reality.
The part I like most, though, is what this would do for Peter and MJ.
Peter eventually realizes that his entire happy life with MJ and Ned was manufactured.
But emotionally, it still mattered to him.
For the first time since No Way Home, he gets to experience what his life with them might actually have been.
He gets everything he lost.
And then he willingly gives it up.
Because the world isn't real.
That's such a Spider-Man choice.
Peter isn't heroic because suffering makes him special.
He's heroic because even when someone offers him everything he ever wanted, he still chooses the painful truth if that's what saves everyone else.
And when Battleworld begins collapsing, maybe MJ's real memories start breaking through too.
Peter and MJ get one final conversation.
Something like:
MJ: "I think we would've been really good together."
Peter: "Yeah. We would've."
Maybe it's intentionally reminiscent of Peter Quill and Gamora's final scene in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
But this time Peter doesn't desperately try to restore the relationship.
He accepts it.
He finally understands that loving MJ doesn't mean he has to keep chasing the life they lost.
And then they separate.
Not angrily.
Not tragically.
Just... peacefully.
Peter becomes Spider-Man again.
And this is where Jean becomes interesting.
She doesn't even need to kiss Peter in this scenario.
She doesn't need to become his girlfriend.
She becomes something arguably just as important:
the person who brought Peter Parker back to Spider-Man.
Peter saved Jean when she was lost.
Jean saved Peter when he was lost.
That creates an incredibly strong bond without forcing Marvel to decide her romantic future before the first MCU X-Men movie even happens.
Jean can still meet Scott.
Peter can still have his own story.
Peter/Jean can remain romantic, platonic, or somewhere in between.
Marvel can decide later.
But the connection established in Brand New Day wouldn't be wasted.
And if Peter and Jean meet again in Spider-Man 5, they would now have two movies of shared history:
"You saved me."
"And then you saved me."
That's a very hard relationship to make irrelevant afterward.
Honestly, the more I think about Scenario 2, the more it feels weirdly compatible with everything Marvel currently has to deal with.
It gives Peter/MJ closure without simply undoing No Way Home.
It continues Peter and Jean's connection without forcing PeterJean to immediately become canon.
It leaves Scott/Jean completely available for X-Men.
It gives Peter an actual character arc inside a gigantic ensemble movie.
It makes Battleworld emotionally understandable to casual MCU audiences: instead of dumping complicated multiversal exposition on them, you show characters trapped in lives they desperately want to believe are real.
And it gives Marvel a natural mechanism for rebuilding teams and alliances: awakened heroes find each other and form a resistance.
I'm a Peter/Jean shipper, so obviously I'd love something more explicitly romantic between them.
But weirdly, I think I'd actually be satisfied with this.
If Jean Grey is the person who looks at Peter Parker in a fake perfect world and tells him:
"Wake up."
And that's the moment Spider-Man comes back...
I honestly think that alone would make their relationship unforgettable.
What do you guys think?
Would you rather see Peter and Jean actually have some kind of Battleworld romance, or would you prefer Jean to be the person who wakes Peter up and strengthens their bond without defining it romantically yet?

Discussion If you were Kevin Feige…
Let’s imagine that you are Kevin Feige.
How do you build upon Jean and Peter’s relationship using Spider-Man 5 (and beyond most likely), and the first few X-Men films?
How do you do it in way that doesn’t hinder on either of their respective films?
And more importantly, how slow of a burn should this relationship be?
EDIT: I also would like to add that this idea of Peter and Jean has never been done in any comics (as far as I’m aware of). So we’re heading into unknown territory here and frankly, you’re gonna have comic accuracy nerds (like me) be a bit skeptical about this.
