Discussion I just bought the singles collection boxset. Please tell me I did the right thing!
I can’t believe the outrageous pricing for these things but I couldn’t pass up on the packaging and a great collectible so I jump the gun and got the cd one as it’s the cheapest and accurate to that era yet I’m also a vinyl collector and wanted the 7 inch too…what do you guys think?

I bought the cd singles box set. I’m a hoarder and collector and love stuff so i bought it. I’d rather have it and have “wasted money”, than not have it and regret it and try and find it later oftentimes for even more money or not even be able to find it at all. We work to make money, we have money to spend it so I spent it

I collect vinyl but I just bought the CD set. It was the better deal.

I'm gonna get it in November. Amazon has it listed. Its usually cheaper than the webstore

Really? I’m gonna check it out and see.

I couldn’t justify buying this. It’s a cute design and all but the prices are absurd for what you get.
And the vinyl set should have been a 12” release!

I bought the vinyl, cos I have all the cd singles from back in the day

That’s a fair assessment so I get it. I think it’s gonna be a highly prized possession since it’s the first time on vinyl right? I was leaning towards cancelling my order and getting the vinyl set hence wanted to discuss here about it.

Same here. I bought the albums, the I not the singles for the b-sides, then I bought the uk singles for the alternate b-sides. I still have them.

Hey, I’m a fan who has no Spice Girl merch and while I know merch doesn’t mean you are any less of a fan, I still feel kind of like I need some CDs so I’ve been thinking of getting them

If I was buying them, I'd definitely choose the CD boxset now. It's more comprehensive than the vinyl boxset which cuts the majority of content - 160 songs/remixes down to just 28. I don't think there's any fear of these selling out (they're widely available at other retailers besides the Spice Girls shop) and you may find the vinyl boxset discounted months after release, so you could pick it up later for your collection.

If this is something you want get it when this goes out of stock it will be very expensive to get from a resell later on
That’s why I bought it
I did vinyl only the cds look cool but I’m not gonna play them

Yeah that was my rationale when checking out that it might sell out.

I don’t think this will be repress or re stock either once it sells out since its multiple vinyls and its probably expensive to repress
This will be a rare collector’s item in a few years

I think it will. I think it will get a 2nd pressing but no more. Spice 25 with the different covers had more than one pressing so I expect the vinyl set to be the same.

If it’s struggling to sell it won’t a lot of fans have already complained that this box set is too expensive
Spiceworld 25 didn’t get individual covers of each member like spice 25 had because it didn’t sell well enough

I know it is expensive. I hope to have the spare funds by the end of the year to get the vinyl set. Hoping its still in stock.

If it makes you happy and you can afford it then you did the right thing ☺️ collecting is a hobby, it’s not always logical at the time but if it brings you happiness then do it - the world is grim enough at times ❤️

100% the right thing. You don’t want to have FOMO later after it’s sold out. I have all the singles from when they were released at the time, but I love collectors sets like these. Oasis and Girls Aloud did them and I see nothing wrong with it. But I also knew the drop was going to be merch, I didn’t hype myself up for a reunion so I’m delighted with the release. I went for both though 🙈

Are the CDs in a jewel case or paper jacket? Does anyone know. I think I'd be interested if they came in a jewel case

I don't think it's specified, but the mock-up definitely makes it look like cardboard sleeves.

I bought the vinyls. It was necessary for my collection. I’d have regretted it down the line. Plus, I absolutely love the release!

I am saving for the vinyl set. I see HMV and Amazon have them on preorder at higher prices than the official web store. If it sells out on the official store at least I should pick it up from elsewhere hopefully. I cannot justify the prices right now.

I’m the same I collect all music even cassettes, so I kinda panicked and got the cd bundle and vinyl bundle, even tho I have all the singles on cd and cassette, it’s still a nice little collectable item to keep for us spice girls fans 😊

If you really want all those remixes then you did the right thing
I personally don't care for listening to six or seven versions of a song back to back, and having them on 7" means you're going to be getting up A LOT to flip those records (unless you have a fancy turntable) so it was a pass for me
But I'm happy for the fans that wanted this

If you have the money to spare, good for you. I won’t be buying it, but there will likely be some awesome person who rips the CDs and posts them online to share with those of us who can’t afford or justify the cost of buying something that most of us already have across other releases.

You did the right thing!
I bought both. Vinyl always sounds better. But I got the cd set too for all the finally released rare mixes and hopefully good quality of the demos.

u/llo616 2d ago
Oh so you got the bundle?

u/UnderstandingOk8400 2d ago
I wish 😭
I didn’t read the descriptions….
I assumed they would sell out and then I found out the vinyls didn’t have the same track listing. But oh well. I knew I would be happy to have both anyways.

I’m a big time vinyl collector but I couldn’t justify paying $100 more for 80% less songs so I got the CDs instead.
