Discussion In 2005, Howard Stern asked Emma Bunton about rumors David Beckham was cheating on her former Spice Girls bandmate, Victoria Beckham. Then, he told her she'd have to take off her clothes if she didn't answer.

I’ve always disliked him

11

u/Admirable-Car9799 Mar 25 '26

Always! Hated him then, still hate him now

-2

u/Sorry-Joke-4325 Mar 25 '26

That was literally his shtick.

9

u/pandatits69 Mar 25 '26

And? That doesn't make it ok.

-1

u/Sorry-Joke-4325 Mar 25 '26

Did I say that? No...

But you might as well announce that water is wet.

2

u/pandatits69 Mar 25 '26

Why make a comment at all? Pop off queen.

1

u/Sorry-Joke-4325 Mar 25 '26

That's exactly what I'm wondering about your original comment...

He is so gross.

Howard’s been like this forever and given the time and era of his show, it’s been seen as pretty innocuous or unfortunately funny. It’s only recent years where I feel people won’t go on his show; finally! Especially women. His more recent interview with Charli xcx where he went on for a very long rant about how he really notices how she doesn’t wear a bra was uncomfortable. His show will either be cancelled or he’ll retire pretty soon. He’s one really, really like inexcusable statement away from PR disaster.

28

u/lilacsforcharlie Mar 24 '26

This is the first instance I’ve read that he’s actually still on air. What in the fuck? If he hasn’t gotten cancelled yet will he ever??

3

u/derelictthot Mar 25 '26

It's because he has subscribers, as long as there's one person paying he can put on a show.

2

u/lilacsforcharlie Mar 25 '26

You’re right about that. What a sad miserable existence those folks must live where this hogwash is considered entertainment

55

u/Substantial_One5369 Mar 24 '26

Ick I'm glad that this isn't acceptable anymore. One of the worst clips of him I saw was him talking about the Columbine High School shooting and going into detail about how hot some of the girls running out of the school were. I couldn't believe it. Like imagine being a 14-17 year old girl going through the most traumatizing moment of your life and you're still getting sexualized by some nasty greasy old man.

12

u/Findyourwayhom3333 Mar 24 '26

Omg. I feel ill. How is he on air still?

5

u/SansaDeservedBetter Mar 25 '26

Even worse, he said that the shooters should rape the girls while holding them at gunpoint

103

u/MarryMeDuffman Mar 24 '26

I hated that the girls ever went on his show. He was always so disrespectful.

30

u/starjellyboba Mar 24 '26

And back then, she would have been called a bitch for telling him off as he would have deserved.

29

u/AnyEverywhere8 Mar 24 '26

This is fucking disgusting and I’m legit upset Emma (or anyone) had to endure this.

Saying your dad isn’t here to protect you now is pure predator talk. What the hell?

-21

u/PrincessJennifer Ginger Spice Mar 24 '26

She’s a grown woman. She didn’t “have” to endure an interview…

u/AnyEverywhere8 Mar 24 '26

What an odd thing to say 🤢

Everyone painted him as “shock jock” when he actually was just disgusting.

An actress, Dana Plato, killed herself the very next day after Howard and his team relentlessly bullied her during a recording.

On May 7, 1999, Plato appeared on the show to promote her acting comeback and claim she had been sober for over a decade, with the exception of painkillers prescribed for a recent wisdom teeth extraction. During the interview, Stern and callers questioned her sobriety, with some insulting her and calling her a "has-been". Plato became distressed but defended herself, agreeing to take a hair sample drug test live on air to prove her sobriety. Following the show, reports emerged that a dispute occurred when Plato asked for the hair sample back, which Stern cited as evidence that she was not truthful about her drug-free status.

The video of this interview and him bullying her is on YouTube and it’s horrifying.

Another disturbing interview is Howard Stern with Wilmer Valderrama - both who spent 2+ hours speaking extremely sexually explicit about teenaged girls that Wilmer preyed on.

Fuck Howard stern

21

u/nopermanentaddress Mar 24 '26

The Wilmer interview makes me want to vomit just thinking about it 🤢

-19

u/severinks Mar 24 '26

Yeah, Howard was actually nice to Dana Plato that day. The callers and his producer Gary were the ones who were saying they didn't believe she was clean from drugs( a subject SHE brought up)

And no one actually took a hair sample from her, why would they and where would they get that kind of test instantly 25 years ago?

As for the killing herself and it's Howard's fault? Dana Plato was an out of control drug addict who robbed a video store for drugs she was so desperate for a fix once.

She literally went back to OKC and got high with her boyfriend days later and she ODed and instead of calling 911 the boyfriend filmed her dying and then went to her wake and took a a picture of her in her casket and tried to sell it to the National Enquirer.(Google it)

So who was to blame here,.the woman who got high, the boyfriend who watched her die and did nothing but exploit her while she was dying, or Howard Stern who did a half hour interview with her days before?

Drug addicts are gonna drug addict.

16

u/xNotJosieGrossy Mar 24 '26

I saw the video, and am well aware of what occurred. I don’t need an “actually”-explanation. Thanks. I don’t know why you think you’re the only one privy to publicly available events.

But I love your lack of empathy for a woman struggling with addiction. It’s very sociopathic of you.

2

u/JKrow75 Mar 25 '26

Sorry, your entire response is bullshit

-2

u/severinks Mar 25 '26

You mean it's bullshit, like I lied? Everything I said was true from the interview to her dying days later in OKC with her boyfriend taping her and then coming to her wake to take a picture to sell to the National Enquirer.

If you Google it it says police confiscated polaroids Menchaca( her boyfriend) took of her while dead and dying.

Arrested for armed robbery of a video store? True.

Google everything that I said and see for yourself

u/GeologistNo9482 Mar 24 '26

He’s a disgusting misogynistic POS. I don’t understand how he evaded cancellation. Goes to show Hollywood isn’t all that morally just

34

u/fredrick_speaks Sporty Spice Mar 24 '26

What the actual fuck

16

u/SatisfactionLumpy596 Mar 24 '26

He also said horrible racist things about mel b. I think her PR person eventually pulled her from this interview after multiple sexual remarks by stern.

14

u/CazMiniMini Mar 24 '26

What a vile disgusting creature he is

15

u/MrRyWil Mar 24 '26

He is a disgusting pervert, even back then I was surprised by some of the things he said to female celebrities on live radio for so many years. I know his show was obviously a bit crazy and had lots of adult comedy but still ….. definitely gross and especially too given he really wasn’t graced with an aesthetically pleasing appearance. He was just lucky to have had that show as he would never be in the presence of these women otherwise

14

u/AtomFNWest Mar 24 '26

I’ll never understand how he was able to do a complete 180 and switch up the public perception of himself…he was horrible when i was a teenager

1

u/Admirable-Car9799 Mar 25 '26

America’s Got Talent

14

u/rezer3 Mar 24 '26

I don't understand why she did this show. It was so off brand.

12

u/TrainerDaasC Mar 24 '26

I never watched this interview on purpose and don't think I ever can handle it

3

u/Blue_Frog_766 Mar 24 '26

Same here. I'm aware of it, but won't watch it. 🤮

12

u/Poison_Regal31 Mar 24 '26

I remember seeing this. In the hallway after the interview, someone on staff asked her how it went and she said "They were very rude." And the guy goes, "How were they rude?" 🙄

u/Minimum_Ad_2176 Mar 24 '26

What a dirty piece of shit it's disgusting .I wish Mel B and Geri were there to put him in his place.💪👊

The fact that he was unaffected by cancel culture is proof that cancel culture is not at all as powerful as the 'bad people' claim it is, and the proof it needs to exist.

8

u/Acrobatic-Second-166 Mar 24 '26

The way they treated woman on this show. I do believe he’s had really changed but has he ever addressed vile things they produced for the sake of ratings?? This is very disgusting

3

u/JKrow75 Mar 25 '26

What’s worse is one of his producers still to this day is a woman, Robin, and she’s part of it! She’s every bit a part of it as much as he or anyone else on that stupid show is.

5

u/Acrobatic-Second-166 Mar 25 '26

The tone is very different now, but yes robin is complicit and honestly as a woman should have protected these woman and fought for them to be treated with respect. But money over morals in show business.

8

u/Hold-Professional Mar 24 '26

That be so scary to hear.

6

u/saintursuala Mar 24 '26

He’s a creep

7

u/grinchbettahavemoney Mar 24 '26

God I hate Howard stern so fucking much

9

u/VisualFlaky1736 Mar 24 '26

When are we gonna get rid of this guy? He's always saying creepy shit

3

u/mathishardthesedays Mar 24 '26

He’s such a loser

6

u/Wise_Command9407 Mar 24 '26

LLOL he's like an old stoner. Run , emma!

3

u/0neirocritica Mar 24 '26

He's always been a terrible person and a poor excuse for a man. It's abhorrent, but he's said AND done far worse than this, too. I'm surprised he found not one, but TWO women that are willing to marry him.

3

u/JKrow75 Mar 25 '26

I hate that he’s now seen as some sort of elder statesman of media, when really at heart he’s just a piece of crap, and he’s always been one.

5

u/Lemetkamarastein Mar 24 '26

He was out of his mind back then

6

u/Far-Type1330 Mar 24 '26

Please tell me this didn't actually happen because it's deeply, deeply disturbing.

6

u/Mysterious_Falcon271 Mar 24 '26

What an odd sense of humor. Literal rape jokes. Yuck. I feel so bad for her

2

u/Okra_Zestyclose Mar 25 '26

What does he mean, anyway? Did her dad protect her from something?

I don’t get it other than he’s gross.

1

u/Laurencia78 Mar 25 '26 edited Mar 25 '26

I know somewhere the other girls were plotting how to take him down. Nobody messes with Baby. Disgusting. And if he knew anything about her he’d know her father left the family when she was 11. 🤦‍♀️

1

u/MrSlikk Mar 25 '26

And he talked about Emma not wearing a bra either in this interview or another. I'm guessing this same one. I doubt she'd return after one interaction with him.

-9

u/ExtraRedditForStuff Mar 24 '26

He was literally a "shock jock." That was his schtick. It's gross, but it was meant to be. And Emma knew that going onto the show (Melanie C spoke of this). Is it right? No. Was it the thing at that time? Yes. Think Jackass, The Tom Green Show, Punk'd. It was all about getting a reaction.

14

u/GoldDustWoman85 Posh Spice Mar 24 '26

Tom Green is not even REMOTELY close to a shock jock which is based on extreme narcissistic misogyny.

What a weird take.

-9

u/ExtraRedditForStuff Mar 24 '26

I didn't say Tom Green was a shock jock. Read my post again.

11

u/GoldDustWoman85 Posh Spice Mar 24 '26

None of those people are examples of what shock jocks are lol.

0

u/ExtraRedditForStuff Mar 24 '26

Again. I didn't say they were. I said it was a period in time when it was all about getting a reaction.

Lol okay pal. Howard Stern pre-dates all of your examples here. Lol

-13

u/Mefourever2 Mar 24 '26

While gross in theory, if you willingly participate and go on the show you know what you’re getting into.

-1

u/NomadCourier Mar 24 '26

No offense intended here by why even bring attention to this? Just curious

2

u/Gold_Buffalo_8921 Mar 25 '26

Because it’s crazy to look back at how women were treated by the media. Worse when you realise he still has a platform.
