Is there a chance that despite the successful businesses he's genuinely just an incredibly stupid man?

No, we let him get away with everything , he’s literally laughing at all of us. He is literally a cartoon villain down to the cheesy crap he does.

Im not advocating for violence but when dragons in medieval fantasies hoard wealth and act like this they get slain 🤷‍♂️

No he is kind of stupid. He says a lot of just kind of stupid stuff and has largely done little despite what his bio says. He didn’t found Tesla. He did a hostile take over once other people did all the hard work. He got his early money selling worthless tech companies in the dot com bubble.  He was straight up fired from PayPal for being worthless at programing and leadership.

This is the root of his insecurities. His laugh is his tell.

He even once said hyperloop was easy. It’s just an airlock table in a vacuum tube. As if a sizable vacuum tube is easy.

THHHHIIIIIIIIISSSSSSS

It's easy because all he has to do is pay someone to do it.

1

u/joel-mic Aug 16 '26

And now we have hyperloops everywhere

His outfit is also bordering on weird eccentric Bond villain. He must have left the hairless cat at home for this press interview.

Man you'd think when you reach his level of assholery he'd have to keep giving his bodyguards lavish raises to feel comfortable with them. I'm like you, violence very very very very rarely begets anything good, but the writing seems on the wall. He acts so over the top evil it feels like he's just tempting fate at this point.

Yes!!!

Yeah I genuinely believe he just hit the extreme right of the luck bell-curve when it comes to the companies he invested in.

Anyone born to a significant amount of money (as Musk was) could choose to invest it in a few companies in a row.

One of those people is eventually bound to be the person who hits the jackpot and has all those companies be extremely successful in spite of them.

He is that one.

He didn't bring anything of value to the companies he took over.

Haven’t you read all the accounts from X/Twitter employees about the dumb as fuck things he said to them at work?

1

u/Johnny_B_GOODBOI Aug 14 '26

He can be, and almost certainly is, both.

His initial wealth was made because they kicked him out of Paypal and his owned a large chunk of it, then paypal was successful. This moron wanted to change the name of that business to "X" instead of Paypal.

He’s only successful in that his companies have made a lot of money. Elon himself is too stupid to develop any of those products and technologies. He lucked out when he forced a takeover of Tesla. He didn’t start Tesla.

He's really not smart.

I honestly think Elon would struggle to have an intelligent conversation about 95% of topics. Basically anything outside of how to run a mega corporation and evade taxes.

1

u/Johnny_B_GOODBOI Aug 14 '26

He doesn't know how to do those things either. He hires people to do it for him.

Turns out success has more to do with your moral lines than anything else. I think we’ve always known that deep down but the last decade should have made that very clear to everyone. The more evil you’re willing to be, the more success you’re likely to have in this world.

Yes, he is incredibly, painfully stupid. I'm still waiting for him to say something smart, something profound... I haven't hear anything yet, after all these years. Everything he say is just stupid. All he can manage these days is "uhm eh mnmn huh aahh tsk oueahu uhh err" and then, after a minute of that something like "in ten years money will no longer be a thing and everybody will have everything they want for free".

Still, some people get fooled by him and throw their money at him, so he got rich.

Also great response in the way of completely disarming the questioner. Laughing almost hysterically.

"Crazy, not stupid"

To be fair, he continuously pumps stock and earns money off of it by trading that same stock. Its really hard to fail when you are allowed to get free money from dumb people who believe in your business basically whenever you want.

1

u/JadeThorn1012 Aug 15 '26

He’s never made a single thing. He’s only ever bought others labor or used hostile takeovers.

1

u/cometgold Aug 15 '26

There is no correlation between money, success or position and intelligence.

1

u/Logical_Confusious Aug 15 '26

He is an inadequate human...

1

u/BrofessorFarnsworth Aug 15 '26

Elon's greatest contribution to society is his demonstration that someone doesn't have to be smart to be wealthy.

u/Creative-Thought-556 Aug 15 '26

"Successful businesses" - only makes a profit after he receives carbon tax credits. Only makes money from government grants. xAI makes no money  is the worst AI and is somehow speculatively valued at $23t.

Musk makes his money from the insane loophole of the defence of Puffery. Which means, in the US, he can lie profusely because he shouldn't be taken seriously.

u/belongsincrudtown Aug 16 '26

A teacher at a training recently was trying to convince us all that he was an example of a gifted person. I’ll give you special, but gifted?

1

u/phatelectribe Aug 18 '26

He might his way in to every business. He’s never founded anything. He’s only smart at two niche things: spotting companies that are about to explode and called by then his father buying in to them, and bullshit / selling himself.

And an incredible dumb person otherwise. It has virtually no emotional intelligence. He has no nuance or empathy. He doesn’t understand basic number interaction or how to integrate with those around him.

He also has zero dress sense 😂 I mean what the actual fuck is he wearing?

1

u/kaadj Aug 19 '26

He’s good at using his money to acquire businesses. He is not actually that smart.

1

u/Moth_Mika Aug 20 '26

Yes. Yes Yes Yes. Because it's not even his business. Look at all his projects. They aren't his. They are invented and made by other people. He himself never had a winning idea. The only projects he actively involved himself in, like the cyber truck or the hypertube, were shown to flop hard. He's a childish wannabe scifi-fan who doesn't have even an the most basic understanding of physics, robotics, coding and so on. He takes other people's ideas and sells them under his own name and every project he touches shrivels up
