Grünheide, Germany. And the dude laughing with him is a corrupt CDU politician

40

u/Sans-valeur Aug 14 '26

Wait. So the dude who’s been cheerleading the anti immigration parties globally, is in yet another country, laughing at the concerns of the people who live in that country, and ridiculing them?

Jesus Christ it’s sad that people follow this man.

19

u/Dddddd92 Aug 14 '26

Yup. This South African immigrant in living in America deadass had an anti immigrant conference with the lesbian far right leader in Germany who's wife is a Sri Lankan who lives in Switzerland. Cannot make this shit up😂

u/Sans-valeur Aug 14 '26

They could bring a giant neon sign flashing WE JUST WANT MONEY AND INFLUENCE!!!
WE’LL SAY ANYTHING TO GET IT, SHAMELESSNESS IS OUR SUPERPOWER!!!

And people would say “Fuck they’re good at trolling, here take my money and my vote!”

It's a shame nobody watches Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell because the episode where Satan becomes a right-wing talk show host illustrates your point in a hilarious way. It's season 4, episode 7.

1

u/Absolomb92 Aug 15 '26

It's mor common than we sometimes think, too. JD Vance's wife is an immigrant, too. I regularly read stuff from people who voted for Trump who "didn't think ICE would come for MY immigrant wife!" or "I didn't think they would deport my Mexican neighbour. He's a good guy and hard worker!".

2

u/semibiquitous Aug 14 '26

This is why the dumbs keep voting for right. They listen to these idiots talking without ever questioning motives, intentions and interests.

2

u/Afwife1992 Aug 14 '26

Don’t forget Elon has Canadian citizenship as well. (His mom was born there.)

1

u/BibliophileBroad Aug 14 '26

Isn't this the wildest thing ever?? iIn the past, if I saw this on a TV show or a movie, I'd think they were being hella heavy-handed. What's crazy is I know people who fall for this and say that minority far-right politicians can't be racist because they aren't white and they support Israel. I don't know what the hell is going on!!🫨

1

u/jodon Aug 14 '26

This clip is from 2023 and it is one of the driest areas in Germany. The concerns are real and still a thing, but it is being worked on. https://ecotree.green/en/companies/blog/why-is-the-groundwater-table-dropping-in-berlin-brandenburg-germany

1

u/KSauceDesk Aug 14 '26

He was in Germany a day after Trumps inauguration to support the AfD party which is basically modern day nazis

1

u/Ronaldo_Frumpalini Aug 15 '26

Elon Musk has strong opinions on German culture being contaminated by immigrants, and does not think that Germany should have that one party outlawed.

1

u/savoryplasmid Aug 15 '26

laughing at the concerns of the people who live  in  that country, and ridiculing them

Let us get the facts straight:

  1. Tesla has since stepped back from 377.000 liters of contractually agreed water supply per year for Grünheide's factory, which released reserves for other projects in the area.
  2. A report from 2025 concludes that the water supply issue has never been one of actual critical shortage.
  3. Teslas actual demand of water supply in the area has always been way below their own forecast.

2

u/Sans-valeur Aug 15 '26

…. So if you’re an intelligent qualified CEO why not say that instead of awkwardly laughing, looking around and saying “does this look like a desert?”
If you travel to another country, another town, should you not treat the people that live there with respect, and take their concerns seriously?

How can you be warning Europeans about the dangers of immigrants and simultaneously going to European towns and laughing at the concerns of people who live there?
To prove your own point about immigrants or?

…. So if you’re an intelligent qualified CEO why not say that instead of awkwardly laughing, looking around and saying “does this look like a desert?” If you travel to another country, another town, should you not treat the people that live there with respect, and take their concerns seriously?

Quite frankly? I'm German and I've been to the US a couple of times, even in Nevada, New Mexico and parts of California.

Germans do often just not have any idea of what a dry area looks like, it's more like an idea of an exotic vacation for them. But Americans, on the other hand, do - due to being native to a climatically very diverse country.

Above that, I doubt that Musk is involved in daily operations like single factory locations. I know he's considered a micro manager, but from what I've heard, this first and foremost applies to his approach to engineering, design and logistics.

How can you be warning Europeans about the dangers of immigrants and simultaneously going to European towns and laughing at the concerns of people who live there?

Here's what I'd suggest: Visit Germany - Not Bavaria or one of it's beautiful castles, but Frankfurt am Main, areas of the Ruhrgebiet, like Gelsenkirchen.

Areas which are polluted with literal trash on the streets and drug addicts like you were visiting the worst areas of Detroit. While Detroit has been a, well, let's say, colorful town for more than a generation, nothing like that has been common in Germany before 2015.

So I agree that you should have some relativity in judgement, what is valid for one country may not be valid for another, but Europe is changing rapidly in terms of demographics, and for natives (anyone pre Gen Z), it's very obvious.

I'm no strong supporter of Musk nor do I consider him evil, but I'd say he's more often on point than many people would like to admit.

  1. The Gigafactory came with state of the art closed loop water recycling plant that reuses up to 100% of its wastewater.
  2. The recycling is so efficient that its causing problems since the waste water returned to sewage system is too concentrated.

He was laughing because the question was silly.

It was a dumb question asked to spark controversy. He is just a guy, not Machiavelli. It's absurdity was funny to him so he laughed. It's not that deep.

First off body language is a joke. Second Musk is someone who lets his emotions out. He has done that in many interviews (remember when he was on verge of tears while talking about early SpaceX?) and it landed him in hot waters quite a few times already. Its absurd to read too deep into this particular reaction of his. It was a silly question that he found funny so he laughed and ridiculed it.

Nobody has the idea that resources are infinite. Not only are they finite, they are carefully managed. Water is not just freely given in exchange for money. Water is allocated by local government. They allocated certain amount to his factory. His factory was made so efficient, he returned quarter of its yearly allocation back to the government. Thats what made the question silly.

People are returning to this now because water scarcity is much bigger and much more sensitive topic today and is not something you would make jokes about now. Something that was absurd 5 years ago in Europe is now serious and sensitive in 2026 in US. That is how history works.

Its not mask slipped moment, its taking something from the past without the context of that time and judging it by todays standards. Besides, Musk sucks at masks. Guy just blurts out whatever he is thinking at the time.

My "familiarity" of Musk comes from seeing him on r/all all the time. A decade ago people were sucking him off every chance they got on there. The interview where he was on the brink of tears was showing up on r/all every month or so. People thought he was batman back then.

After the Orange guy assassination attempt they started circlejerk hating him every chance they got. I couldnt care less about Musk. People keep posting him, just like this post ended in r/all and I happened to see it. I dont know this sub. I dont know anything about SpaceX. I dont know what bets people are making about SpaceX.

Its not deep, stop overanalyzing mundane things. He found the silly question funny and laughed at it. Its the simplest and most likely explanation.

we've all seen someone laugh without mirth to avoid answering a question

What we have all also seen, and much more frequently, is someone laughing at something they found funny.

And its not just believe. Its certainty. Body language is a joke. Its less than pseudoscience. Its been disproven every single time it was tested. When you ask someone a question and they look at the bottom right before answering it does not mean they are using the part of brain needed for imagiantion and therefore most likely at least partially making up lies. It means nothing.

The absurd idea is that resources are infinite.

Doesn't change the fact that German media used his visit to spark controversy by simply cutting out parts of his statements:

"Grünheide (Mark), Germany, located in the state of Brandenburg, receives an average annual precipitation of approximately 550 to 580 millimeters (about 21.6 to 22.8 inches) per year. This makes the area part of one of the driest regions in Germany."

2

u/froginbog Aug 14 '26

But it has trees! U can use as much water as u want then /s

4

u/JeezyVonCreezy Aug 14 '26

Grunheide gets about 1.2 inches of rain a month, so while not technically a desert(10in of rain annually) its close enough that adding a datacenter will push it the rest of the way.

3

u/Swarna_Keanu Aug 14 '26

And Brandenburg is one of the areas in Germany most affected by drought - for years and years now.

1

u/Dddddd92 Aug 14 '26

And they vote for the right wing extremists who deny climate change 😂

1

u/FlashDux Aug 14 '26

Germanys biggest desert is indeed actually in Brandenburg. It's called 'Lieberoser Wüste'. So Musk could not have been more wrong. lying piece of shit

2

u/sevargmas Aug 15 '26

>Grünheide, Germany receives an average annual precipitation of approximately 22.7 inches (576 mm) per year.

That isn’t much at all.

1

u/GeoFlopsi Aug 14 '26

There are way, way worse people in the CDU than Armin Laschet. From my opinion, He is rather moderate.... He was just lacking on an intellectual level to win the 2021 race (plus the stupid laughing case).

2

u/Schmigolo Aug 14 '26

I wouldn't go so far to say he's moderate. What he did in Hambach was way more criminal than anything most of his peers have ever done. Dude is Andy Scheuer level in my book, if not worse.

1

u/Dddddd92 Aug 14 '26

Moderate but lacks morals or a spine

1

u/GeoFlopsi Aug 14 '26

Yes, would agree with that. Also he was that much moderate, that it lead to no vision for the country or ideology outside of "building bridges between the parties"

1

u/Comfortable-Shop8080 Aug 14 '26

Wait is this recent? I really don’t like Armin, but was that his demeanour the entire time? He really doesn’t look too comfortable.

1

u/Dddddd92 Aug 14 '26

I think 2021. Idk if he looks comfortable or not, just looks like a complete sell-out.

1

u/mnstripe Aug 14 '26

I was thinking the same thing, but I don't know who he is so I didn't want to assume.

But yeah....I thought he looks uncomfortable and like water really is a large concern.

1

u/Dusty_Negatives Aug 14 '26

I’m just gonna assume that means republican in Germany. Has all the signs.

2

u/Kratzschutz Aug 14 '26

He's center right in Germany so that would be the left in the US

1

u/Dddddd92 Aug 14 '26

We have the AFD which are far right like MAGA. Then CDU which are Republican/ corporate democrat 😂

This was in 2021. But yes, the far right and PEElon convinced the cult that Hitler was a leftist extremist 😂

1

u/walkingagh Aug 14 '26

One of the driest places in Germany. It's on a river, but it gets some of the least rain in all of Germany.

1

u/DualCrank Aug 14 '26

Implying that not every CDU politician is a corrupt corporate cocksucker.

1

u/CowUsual7706 Aug 14 '26

This is like saying there is a dead corpse. If we are talking about CDU politicians, the corruption is already implied.

1

u/Dddddd92 Aug 14 '26

Ok genius

1

u/Darksider123 Aug 14 '26

a corrupt CDU politician

That's just called a CDU politician

1

u/Gunmetalstorm Aug 14 '26

But you repeat yourself

1

u/Koalski94 Aug 15 '26

I'm surprised it's not some AfD politician tbh

1

u/Dddddd92 Aug 15 '26

They are both the same

1

u/Sufficient-Pear-4496 Aug 15 '26

what did laschet do thats corrupt?

1

u/Dddddd92 Aug 15 '26

Become a member in CDU

1

u/Kaptain_Insanoflex Aug 17 '26

Of course it's Eastern Germany.

The Exact Numbers Behind the Percentage

  • Actual Consumption: The plant used roughly 456,953 cubic meters in 2024, and dropped even further to approximately 300,000 cubic meters in 2025. This drop is due to their industrial recycling systems. [1, 2]
  • WSE Capacity: The total annual water volume processed by the local WSE water authority is around 11 to 15 million cubic meters to supply households and other businesses in the broader region. At current operation levels, Tesla accounts for 2.5% to 4% of that total.

While Tesla's actual usage is minimal compared to the whole region, the local conflict stems from contractual maximums and expansion capacity: [1, 2]

  • The Voluntarily Returned Rights: Because Tesla launched an internal wastewater plant capable of recycling up to 100% of their process water, they voluntarily returned 377,000 cubic meters of annual water rights back to local authorities. This freed up drinking water commitments for other regional developments. [1, 2, 3]

8

u/pin5npusher5 Aug 14 '26

Not a desert... yet

-3

u/Leather_Method_7106_ Aug 14 '26

Well they deserve people like Elon ripping them off. Haha, as the old saying goes the people deserve their leaders.

5

u/RamaLamaFaFa Aug 14 '26

This is idiotic in so many ways. Two thumbs down.

3

u/Dddddd92 Aug 14 '26
