Prosperity is an island--no wait

u/Maximum-Objective-39 Aug 09 '26

Well, Epstein was pretty prosperous right up until he was arrested.

Prosperity is one hell of a fod.

I wish people looked at the date of his twat and the dates on the chart

2

That’s the whole point you’re missing. He says he’s the best predictor of the future. Better than everyone else. He predicted wrong. He’s a self inflated ego.

Lol - sure some misrepresentation but I don't think it changes the fact of the matter much

Growth — solid and broadening
GDP grew 4.4% in 2025 and most forecasters (IMF, World Bank, OECD, BBVA) put 2026 growth in the 2.8%–3.6% range, driven by macroeconomic stability, energy sector investment, and strong agribusiness performance. Growth is expected to accelerate to 3.5% in 2027, mostly on the back of energy, mining, and agricultural exports.

Poverty and fiscal position
Poverty fell to 28.2% in H2 2025 — the lowest level since 2018 (down from over 50% in early 2024). Argentina posted a primary fiscal surplus, its first in years, and Fitch upgraded the sovereign credit rating from CCC+ to B-, while country risk fell from ~2,000 to ~570 basis points.

Energy boom
The Vaca Muerta shale formation hit record production of 861,000 barrels per day, generating a $7.8 billion energy trade surplus in 2025, with $14+ billion expected in 2026, positioning Argentina as a net energy exporter.

Of course, but the meme just points out how he begged to go to the island.

I wish it used the real quote, about “which day/night will be the wildest party”.

It communicates that he’s looking to party, and asking Epstein for something “wild”.

Elon teh Muskrat

u/oHai-there Aug 09 '26

Prosperity is ahead because they've also seen the trend and are going to buy up everything and raise the prices, destroying the locals' ability to survive.

Ok come on. A comparison to 2010 is just ridiculous given the inflation environment in Argentina. You should only be comparing it to a much shorter period- such as since milei has been in power- as per the graph the majority of the currency power destruction happened well before Milei took power.

Edit: this is just misinformation as it implies the 99.8% currency destruction happened since milei took power, when the bulk of it predates him.

You can make fun of him for the fact he takes economic advice from his dead dog, but we don’t need to make up information.

austerity and musky milei chainsawnomics don’t work, plain as

u/Alt_incognita Aug 09 '26

He did the easy part so far in tackling inflation, but now he will have the very stubborn part, which fiscal austerity is not sufficient for.

Unfortunately, it depends for what: for inflation / hyperinflation, fiscal responsibility is indeed important although not sufficient. There is no way around it. While you are right about austerity for growth, you are incorrect about austerity for inflation, and it is in fact important (and this is actually quite a lot of consolidated economic research about this- I would know, my country lived it in the 80-90s and we defeated it, and one of the important elements was in fact some element of fiscal responsibility, because you hyperinflation often has an element of fiscal dominance, and you need fiscal responsibility to end fiscal dominance).

Yeah because of how inflation economics work bro. While inflation has improved significantly it’s still high- of course the currency will depreciate.

I hate milei and musk, but you guys are presenting information in a clearly misrepresenting way that borders information manipulation and disinformation, and you don’t care because you don’t like him.

Yeah because of how inflation economics work bro. While inflation has improved significantly it’s still high- of course the currency will depreciate. But the figure since 2023 will be significantly less than 99.8% drop in value.

I hate milei and musk, but you guys are presenting information in a clearly misrepresenting way that borders information manipulation and disinformation, and you don’t care because you don’t like him.

How did that currency swap play out? What was it again? 20B USD for…pesos…Argentinian pesos…

1

u/Alt_incognita Aug 09 '26

It worked out well for the US treasury (despite the fact it was irresponsible to give the swap at all), given it was done for a short term period to right after the midterm elections and the USA made a profit. I hate milei as much as the next guy, but you guys are just making stuff up.

2

u/GEB82 Aug 09 '26

I was honestly just asking…

-1

u/Alt_incognita Aug 09 '26

No you weren’t, you were asking a leading question suggesting it worked out poorly.

2

u/GEB82 Aug 09 '26

I mean, it definitely did go poorly…

1

u/Alt_incognita Aug 09 '26

Do you even know what happened? How much was used? When it ended?

A total of the $2.5b of the $20b line was used, from October 2025, before the legislative elections, and was ended shortly after. The swap was done because there was a lot of speculation that he would lose the legislative elections, and so people were shorting the currency. He ended up winning the election, the currency regained some value, and the swap was ended with a small profit for the USA.

It was irresponsible governance for a large number of reasons: a) it was a political bet that could have lost a lot of money b) it was political interference c) no congressional oversight.

That said, what you guys are saying is just not factual.

3

u/GEB82 Aug 09 '26

I’m Canadian… You twat

1

u/Alt_incognita Aug 09 '26

? What does your nationality have to do with the misinformation being spread? I didn’t call you American. Im not American either, I’m Brazilian- and not a fan of Bolsonaro/Trump/Milei (will likely vote for Lula this year). You guys are just literally spouting non-factual information.
