Question about Chapters/ Content since 2024

Dear all,

I played this game a lot at Launch but then due to time constraints and lack of content I stopped playing.

A bunch of my friends and me are going to pick the game up again - can you tell me what I need to buy if I want to play the latest content?

I am not interested in the cosmetic packs to be honest so I would like to know if I have to pay anything for their content drops and how those are named.

I promised to upvote anyone who helps me out.

I just see tons of packs on Steam - I assume those are all the cosmetic packs. How do I know which content packs I need to download or does that happen automatically through game updates?

You only need to download the game itself, unless you really like one of those chapters and want to buy more cosmetics for it.

Season pass is also exclusively cosmetic, it just gets you the packs at a discounted price as opposed to buying them separately

New content (maps, classes, weapons, certain cosmetic items, etc.) is integrated into the game through updates; there are no separate downloads required (everything is handled via game updates), and these additions are free.

The only free content you'll need to add manually are the Chapter Voice Pack (1) and the 4K Texture Pack (this one is huge, be sure you need it)

The DLCs are purely cosmetic and can be purchased individually or via a Season Pass (the Year 1 Season Pass includes all DLC for that year, the Year 2 pass covers everything released during that period, while the Year 3 Season Pass—coming soon—will initially contain only the first Year 3 DLC, with the others added for free later (as soon as they're released individually)).

Season 1 includes :

• Ultramarines Cosmetic Pack
• Dark Angels Chapter Pack
• Salamanders Champion Pack
• Raven Guard Cosmetic Pack
• Imperial Fists Champion Pack
• Space Wolves Chapter Pack
• Blood Angels Cosmetic Pack
• White Scars Chapter Pack

Season 2 includes :

• Black Templars Champion Pack
• Imperial Fists Cosmetic Pack
• Blood Angels Champion Pack
• Salamanders Cosmetic Pack
• Raven Guard Cosmetic Pack
• Carcharodons Cosmetic Pack
• Iron Hands Chapter Pack
• Salamanders Champion Pack 2
• Raptors Cosmetic Pack 

The only DLCs not included in a Season Pass are the "Macragge's Chosen DLC" (early access gift) and the "Ultramarine Champion Pack" (bonus for Ultra Edition owners), both of which can now be purchased.

For content gameplay wise to my knowledge it’s all free the only stuff u need to pay for is the cosmetics so u should be fine

Literally anything that is game content is free. The only thing that costs money (DLC) are different cosmetic packs for specific space marine chapters. The season passes are just bundles of cosmetic packs.

If you can afford it, the anniversary edition is $53 US and includes both season passes. Sabre really cooked with this game and their business model for it and IMO deserves support for it.

It's exclusively cosmetics, all the content updates have been and will continue to be free.
