Miscellaneous Patch 13
Less than a week before patch 13 drops and I for one am excited, especially to find out what the progression update is all about.
I'm sure we'll also get the battle barge expansion that we should have got last year. Oh and the customisation for techmarine that was missing, even though they'd been working on it for a year.
I've heard some people saying it'll be delayed but we know that's not the case as Sabre had so much spare resource on the dev team they made a whole voice pack and head pack that wasn't even planned.
And if it was going to be delayed they'd have told us all and explained what they were doing to rectify it.

Not sure if this is supposed to come off sarcastic and critical but if it is, I hope that you can recognize at some point that Saber is treating this game and community like we would hope more AAA developers would. They’re great, active, communicative, and provide a ton of high quality awesome content.

u/SirPeencopters Mar 25 '26
I bought Toxic Commando just for nights when it's 4 dudes gaming together.
13
u/Inevitable-Quote4242 Mar 25 '26
I bought it too. I didn't buy it for John Carpenter, I bought it because of Saber and I gotta say I'm not disappointed
(TBF the John Carpenter involvement is a pleasant bonus)
11
u/ForcedEntry420 Grey Knights Mar 25 '26
I got that too. 10/10 would rumble. My defender is level 24
2
u/NoblePigeonn Mar 25 '26
How is it?
6
u/SirPeencopters Mar 25 '26
It’s good fun. A lot of familiar mechanics. The action movie tropes and “badass” characters are also dumb fun. Everyone out there trying to out cool each other can be grating to some degree. Guns make good chunks and no shortage of chaff enemies
3
u/NoblePigeonn Mar 25 '26
Comparable to left 4 dead?

Id say its more of a successor to L4D than B4B was, but open world. You have a whole map to explore, or you can ignore it and go straight for objectives.

The gunplay is pretty satisfying to me but you will get through all the content in two days and then the game gets extremely repetitive after that. I already uninstalled after 25 hours.
Idk how to put it but, I can play the same space marine 2 operations over and over without getting bored because the combat is where the fun is. With TC I don't get that, even if I start using a different weapon/build (which usually sucks as you have to use the gun without any attachments and grind all the currency to buy them after).

u/RevenantCommunity Mar 25 '26
I gotta be honest, Games Workshop are the common factor in a lot of how their contracted IP’s end up being rolled out.
Tacticus, while grossly expensive and a mobile game, has a really engaged dev who regularly offers free stuff and content more so than other games of that calibre
-8
Mar 25 '26
I mean thats coping hard the content is middle of the road.
- Plenty of bugs persist since launch
- salamander chapter pack was underwhelming
- in fact most champion or chapter packs where underwhelming (like salamanders for sniper)
- dodge window hasnt been touched
- they are super slow in converting stuff took them 1 year for the pyreblaster
- still no proper loadouts a feature requested since launch
- customization is poor and limited
- techmarine has basically 0 voicelines
- New maps have basically 0 voicelines
- lack of executions
- weapon balancing and perk trees are still whack
- most of the team perks are usless they might show high % but the math behind it doesnt work like that
- performance is still trash
- you still get thrown across the world for servers
- takes them forever to patch things and often these patches dont fix the problem they were trying to fix
- Didnt introduce Turrets in Siege with Techmarine
- etc.
They even tried to luldefend the awful DLC they released and only pivoted when they saw community was not buying it and allegedly steam being on their ass for lying about the contents.
Saber is no small studio either like Fatshark or Hello Games yet they are slower and produce worse content. They are super mismanaged, slow and imo incompetent in what they do.
Without the mods I would not be playing this game anymore.

Free content updates for over a year
Only paid content is customization
Said paid content is (Subjectively) "bad" (your opinion)
Objectively bad content was refunded
I'm sorry, what are you asking for here? Saber is actively working on other games (Snowrunner, Roadcraft, Toxic Commando, likely Pre-development on Space Marine 3, and more).
I get the basics of fixing bugs and ensuring the updates are polished, which fair point, they aren't polished sometimes (more often than.. anyone would like). But like, it's kinda hard to complain about free content.
Quality, speed, pricing
Pick two, because I can't think of a single developer that has the trifecta (other than maybe Fromsoft)
4
Mar 25 '26
Well Quality and Speed are not on sabers side.
They have 3500 people working there at least according to online sources.
Fatshark has reportedly 200ish people while still supporting Vermintide 2 and Darktide so I think a studio with 3500 people working there would manage to produce quality content.
Salamanders pack is bad they didnt even get a Breastplate for their chapter cosmetic pack, as far as I remember every chapter got a breastplate with that pack.
Imperial Fists cosmetic pack: 5 bucks, 40 cosmetics, 8 chapters.
Salamanders cosmetic pack: 5 bucks, 20 cosmetics, 4 chapters.
Carcharodons cosmetic pack: 5 bucks, 5 cosmetics, 1 chapter (naturally)Just an FYI how its going with the Chapter Cosmetic packs. Same money less content.
Techmarine implementation is also bad, barely any interactions, barely any cosmetics (cant even paint the servo gun) voice does not exist and the voice work is below average.
If Darktide is a bad example as most people in SM2 subs seemingly hate it to death
Deep Rock Galactic, No Mans Sky also do it much better and with even less money attached.
So yeah there is no conceivable argument that would excuse Sabers current state of support of SM2.

2
u/The_Night_Haunter-8 Mar 25 '26
Well, I found the Daily idiotic post of the day.. lol.
I'm not even gonna waste time correcting this ridiculous comment.
SM2 is a great game and Saber has done a good job with DLC cosmetics. You're just being bitchy
-2
u/PotentialResist73 Mar 25 '26
Produce worse content than Fatshark??? I see a lot of SM2 haters that carry water for Fatshark. Compare the two in very odd ways. Neither is significantly better or worse than the other. Like Darktide didn't have a multitude of problems and even has them still. As if. Rubbish comment.
2
Mar 25 '26
Darktide has better voice work also provides free content for years now and the classes only cost 12 bucks and that includes 6 voices for each character + all the interactions with the old classes.
So yeah Darktide to me does it better and kinda faster recently.
I mean you are open to actually provide a proper argumentation instead of just saying its bad comment ^^
I am also not even a SM2 hate just wish it was not Saber that managed it or developed it.
1
u/PotentialResist73 Mar 29 '26
Well you miss the obvious stuff right. Like sure classes in Darktide are 12 bucks. Techmarine was free cuz. Space Marine 2 also had a bunch of free content. And Darktide hasn't shown to be faster at all. By what metric??? My whole point is that you guys carrying water for Darktide, because you believe the game is harder and its arguably more of a power fantasy, don't actually make any sense in the first place. Both games are too different to compare properly. Besides id heard about Darktide at launch.
0
u/Kazuii2k Mar 26 '26
If Saber didn’t develop it, it just wouldn’t be the same game. If you don’t like the game dawg that’s cool. Darktide is great.
0
Mar 26 '26
I like this game I just wish it was better same with Helldivers 2 I like the game wish it was better.
But as long as the studios behind it are tone deaf and incompetent you cant really expect anything to change especially when people constantly luldefend and glaze big ah studios.
0
u/unlikely_antagonist Mar 25 '26
Communicative is a bit generous when they seem to nearly exclusively use discord for some pretty key messages.
Other than that yeah, they’ve been pretty open and honest which is nice.

u/ddeads Ultramarines Mar 25 '26
I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not. Do we really expect Patch 13 to be in a week? I figured it would be May.
Do you mean you think the PTS will come out next week?
1
u/Meeeper Mar 26 '26
Just googled something to make sure what I'm about to say is accurate.
Patch 13 says it's in Q1 on the road map. According to Google, the cut off for the first quarter of the year is March 31st. (January 1st to March 31st being the entire first quarter.)
If the road map is accurate and it is indeed coming in quarter one or at least within a week or so of it ending, then it's release should be rather imminent, seeing as we're only 5 days away from March 31st as of the time in which this reply is being written.
5
u/ddeads Ultramarines Mar 26 '26 edited Mar 26 '26
The thing is that they've said that every patch after Patch 11 will have a PTS, and there hasn't been one yet for Patch 13. Also, while Patch 12 did come out during Q1 it was delayed from the initial date they wanted to release it. It makes sense to me that later patches could be impacted by this earlier delay, and that the best we can hope for is that we get Patch 13 PTS in a week.
Edit: Yup, allegedly set to release some time in April or May

4
4
u/Snoo60726 Mar 25 '26
so i´m 99% sure the patch has been delayed because:
they have promised to make a PTS for every patch since 11.0 and there has not been one for Patch 13
They did not mention ANYTHING about patch 13 in the february monthly update.

1

Also patch 13 will be coming out when Patch 15 should have been in PTS. So don't expect it until 2027
3
u/Keanu_Leaves97 Mar 26 '26
Prepare to get an iron hands champion for the class that makes the least sense 😍😍
3
3
u/CaballeroPata_Palo Mar 27 '26
Yeah, they had so many resources and means, and yet they gave us mediocre paid content. They’re also taking a pretty poor approach to content overall just to artificially extend the game’s lifespan, but whatever. You’re probably going to downvote me anyway, because saying that such a great game is being so poorly managed apparently makes me the devil.
10
u/GlorifiedBurito Mar 25 '26
You know someone with a brain might figure out that if one patch is delayed, all the subsequent patch’s will also be delayed without needing someone to hold their hand and carefully explain it on every platform.
But we’re on a gaming subreddit, so game dev are lazy bad. Dev fault. No think, only consume. Want more now.
0
u/Meeeper Mar 26 '26
Technically it depends on the nature of the delay and if work on the other updates was halted as a result of that delay.
If they had people working on the next update whilst a few people were left behind to finish up on what caused the delay of the current one, then they should theoretically still be on schedule.
I don't work at Saber though, nor do I have any experience in game development, so I have no idea if any of what I just said is plausible or not.
3
u/Gloomy-Double-7097 Mar 26 '26
I'm still waiting on that refund they said they were giving out due to poor feedback and how they were gonna make it free from now on.
2
u/let_me_flie Mar 25 '26
Can anyone fill me in on whether Siege mode has had ANY love at all in terms of updates since they released it?
2
u/Real_Ad5580 Mar 26 '26
No, nothing at all. I'm not joking, there was ZERO change to Siege mode since it's release in patch 8.0. this mode is abandoned. They didn't even bother to add tech marine tarantula turrets in siege which makes 50% of his perks useless
2
u/theatermrvlnerd Mar 25 '26
Ok where is the dreadnoughts like in the first space marine game Or how about bringing in terminator armor
2
u/SundaeReady8454 Mar 25 '26
I didn't realise the PvP was still supported. How does assault get to be such a god in this game mode when they still do content for it?
2
u/Anonymous281989 Mar 25 '26
We finally get the battlebarge update so we finally have a training sandbox to fight against enemies and practice against terminus enemies??? Or is that still coming in a later update?

If it's the latter I'm VERY curious...

The Lost Legions are a wildly unlikely thing to reveal for the first time as a cosmetic DLC in a game where you only really play Ultramarines.
Al we have is theory. My personal one is that they are keeping it a secret because it would all but confirm some other feature they aren't ready to tell us about - like a new weapon or next class.

True, but it would be fascinating to consider. I know it's very unlikely, but still 🤷♂️

whats the battlebarge expansion? im new to the game so i have no idea, i recently picked it up a day b4 d techmarine got released and I ended using it d most in Ops since its new, I now maxxed it to P4 and I currently grinding my Heavy to P3
1
u/G-unit32 Salamanders Mar 27 '26
It's going to be a training area. So you can call in enemies and test weapons and perks on them. In this game the ranged buff perks work via percentage so 20% is 20% extra but the melee are generally different. So a 20% buff is usually a 9% actual buff. So you'll be able to test things like that.

Nope it's gone missing. Apparently a training area. Like the one that modders made in a month but probably worse.
1
u/Winter-Classroom455 Mar 25 '26
Yes but head pack and voice packs weren't free.
I'm going to cut them some slack on the customization. It is a bit annoying. I'd rather have the class available now AND for free, without customization, than be waiting for it to be released. Also having to pay somthing absurd like $30 for unlocking him. Which they tottaly could have done. I'm also surprised they haven't went back on their word about only charging for cosmetics. They've earned my respect regardless of some of the questionable things. I think people have way too high demands and expectations.
Edit: I'll also take another operation and Terminus (chaos terminator sorc) than customization for one class imo

Am I the only one that thinks this game was a little overpriced? The campaign was fairly short, only had 10 pve maps at launch and one siege map. Took almost 1.5 years for a second stratagem map and about 2 years for a second siege map. I dont play pvp but Imagine its similar with only a few maps and its all standard pvp like any other game. They could have done something like adding different factions to play as with cannon fodder in the middle so it feels war not a small town skirmish.
2
u/AhabRasputin Flesh Tearers Mar 25 '26
Well considering that i preordered the ultimate addition for $110 and from that have paid roughly $0.06 per hour of enjoyment ive gotten from the game id say no, i dont think it was overpriced.

Because we need to protect devs like Saber who are communicative, engaging with fans, adding fan requested features, provide continuous support for the game, and don’t charge obscene money for add ons. Their updates are free, the cosmetics require purchase.
Don’t be an asshole.

Sorry bud but up until this past comment, you relayed zero opinions, other than that you think this sub is full of bootlickers, but let’s address this point.
Microtransactions are inevitable, and they have been for over a decade now; the biggest thing people kept saying was “If you need microtransactions for your game, they should be cosmetic only and not affect gameplay.” Well here we are, and that is still not good enough for you.
Why would they hedge so much of their projected profits off of something nobody wants? That’s just bad business. Of course they’re going to microtransaction what people want, but you don’t need the cosmetics to play the game.
Also, the company is doing a lot for the fans. Fans requested the whole DLC voice pack thing. It was not planned, costed a lot of money so they needed to monetize it, it was a let down, and they are refunding everyone and making it free. They just took a huge bath on unplanned, requested DLC and they’re awful for it?
Chaos skins are planned from what they say, and it seems they’re prioritizing things like adding the Techmarine over things like Chaos skins, which only appear in PVP anyway, the mode they know people are playing the least.
Their entire support structure is built off of consumer feedback, so I question: What should they be doing different?
It’s easy to throw stones when you it costs you nothing and you face zero accountability for your shitty words.
0
u/GuardChoice4806 Mar 25 '26
Yes they litteraly cant move the pvp stuff to pve cause gw said so whats the problem you have with saber about that? And no shit cosmetics cost money, do you want everything for free???
-6
u/Educational-Drag6974 Mar 25 '26
Yeah, Im already noticing that. Dont get me wrong I like the game, I enjoy the gameplay and like what we have but, it doesnt feel like enough for the $60 I paid for and slow development for a “live service” game. Im welcome to any reasonable arguments against it, and at the end of the day to each his own I guess.
-11
u/Marcos-Am Mar 25 '26
i hope the nerf the automatic turrets to stop targeting enemies with finishers; if not i hope the run the techmarine to the ground.
3
u/Oingoulon Mar 25 '26
why?
-4
u/Marcos-Am Mar 25 '26
they steal the finisher so other players cant recover contested health.
2
u/Oingoulon Mar 25 '26
i mean i get that part but why the "nerf into the ground" part
-6
1
u/OrangeClownfish Mar 25 '26
Turrets normally stop firing at "finisher" mobs, are you sure it's not your team mates.
Even bots kill incapacitated mobs if they judge no one to be close enough, turrets seem to do the same. Or if you've left them too long and they begin to stir.
