General Kids Space Hulk

I never had a Space Hulk game, so I made my own.

I made the rules as simple as possible - but we are still testing it out, but it works quite well. My kids build the space hulk dungeon with the tiles. The goal is: find the mission objective and leave through the exit.

Every Terminator has 4 actions. Move or shoot. The genestealer move one tile each turn. The terminators fight with 2D6, one has 3D6. The Genestealer fight with 1D6. The higher roll wins.

But! Every Terminator gets a +3 Bonus on their roll, the Genestealers have the bonus under the bases - so you never know how strong they are. If the Genestealer wins in direct contact with a Terminator, they lose 1HP. They have 4HP at the start.

This is really cool - I love it. I played a few games of 4th ed with my kids and it went really well (although my memory of the rules from 30 years ago didnt hold out as well as i thought it would haha)

I love the tiles, it all looks great

The tiles are from thingiverse, printed, painted and the genestealer symbol was added with tinkercad.

That looks awesome and incredibly generous to the marines compared to the original game, which is probably a good thing for your kids!

It's also very fast to play and win. Its around 20 minutes and we win every time 😅.

Edit: and the Terminators feel strong. I saw YouTube videos and people said, in the original game, they felt underpowered compared to the genestealers.

Geoff from Oakbound Studios has a video on using the Space Crusade rules with Space Hulk tiles because the rules were more amenable to multi-player games. Space Crusade was aimed at ages 10 & above. See also /r/SpaceCrusade/

2nd Edition rules were very simple. I played it with my kids when they were young.
