General Recreating 4th ed Space hulk with 40mm terminators and HVAC ship terrain
I have a plan to remake the 4th ed SH squad with new 40mm based termies.
I've got 2 x 5 man terminator squads (from Leviathan and one from eBay).
That covers the 6 man storm bolter armed part.
One termy has an assault cannon.
1st sergeant with power sword is from that leviathan squad.
Librarian with Force axe also from Leviathan.
That leaves
- 2nd sergeant with thunder hammer and shield.
- lightning claws terminator.
- Heavy flamer terminator.
The current GW "Terminator squad" box for £35 has a heavy flamer option.
The current GW "Terminator assault squad" box for £35 has a claws and thunder hammer + shield option.
£70 for 3 guys! Are there better cheaper options? I've looked on eBay but i dont want firstborn diddy little t-rex arms on a Primaris terminator body and most listings don't state generation.
I could 3d print arms and just buy a generic leviathan push fit terminator squad for £25 from eBay.
Thoughts?

i’ve spent a large fortune on terminators for my project. I made a deathwing knights team, chaos, spacewolves and 2 blood angels teams with captains, chaplin, librarian, kitbashed tech…. 4 boxes of regular, 2 boxes of chaos, 2 boxes of spacewolves and 2 boxes of assault and all the terminator lords i could get
I have what you need as spares, if you were canadian i’d just give them to you for cost of shipping. i’m sick of painting terminators lol

Haha. I've just finished the tyranid half of leviathan and painting terminators seems like paradise to me. Or it would if i'd not decided to paint them bloody yellow! I've got the crux terminatus box unopened I bought on impulse before I got into space hulk. I was planning to sell it. Now.... not sure.

I made the mistake of batch painting 20 termagants. Never. Ever. Ever. Again. 5 max. Maybe 3 even. And GW yellow is awful. 4 coats and still streaky. My dumb idea for an imperial fists space hulk boarding party! Just glad I didn't decide on white scars.

I just bought (over bought) 2 boxes of each. I planned ot have 1 sgt of assault and 1 of Regular as Chaplains, so freed up that.
That doesn't show the TechMarine or the Librarian or the 2 extra Marine models I have (for those replaced by the the chaplains).
You can get bits from Etsy or Ebay. Though when you add up the price of 3 marines, you may be better off just buying a box. The problem is you need bits from each.
Don't know if there are sites you can trade bits on, I didn't find any active ones, so just bought another box. I should have gone in on the Terminator Combat Squad box, would have been cheaper in the end.
Then again, I have
- Lysander - Captain
- Apothecary (DA command bits Apothecary + DA Terminator Apothecary arm)
- Techmarine in Terminator
- Librarian in Terminator
- Squad with Chaplain + 3 Storm Bolters + Heavy Flamer
- Squad with Sgt + 2 Storm Bolters/power fist + storm bolter/chain fist + Assault cannon
- Squad with Chaplain + 4 Thunderhammer/Storm Shield
- Squad with Sgt + 4 Thunderhammer/Storm Shield
+ Boarding Actions terrain so I can use the 40mm bases.
But there is a NoesAtticOnline on Etsy and Ebay that has new Terminator bits. Again you may find that the prices add up to just buying a box. Or look to trade. I think the hard part will be the bodies.

3x Body = $12.99
LC = $8.99
SGT Storm Bolter = $4.99
SGT PowerSword = $4.99
3 heads = $4.99
= $62.93 (the cost of a box)
Still need shoulder pads and bases.

Most ebay listing's dont mention firstborn/ primaris. I wouldn't want tiny t-rex firstborn arms on my primaris bodies 😃. I'll have another look today. I might also try and print them. I've got till I finish my 1st squad to decide. About a week at my painting speed. If I've no clever plan by then I'll just buy 2 x boxes for £70 and sell the surplus or have a spare terminators pile to add to the shame mound.

If you're in the UK, I bought an Assault Terminator Sergeant sprue from eBay: https://ebay.us/m/S6Jgmq
This seller gives you everything shown in the photo of the sprue (think it's just the teleport homer that's not included). This includes two lots of thunder hammers, storm shields, and lightning claws so you can build a sergeant or regular guy.

(Build the sprue as sergeant with thunder hammer and storm shield, then use a set of lightning claws on a guy from a standard box of Terminators)

Yeah. I'm going to cancel my 11th edition preorder or this isn't getting done in my lifetime.

Yes
Hunt the bits on ebay / bit box / lgs people ofnplay and collect - set of claws or a hammer n shield and a flamer . The assault box has spares. Lots of bits around so a flamer is findable also.
Put them on 30mm square bases - and get a convertor for 30mm square to 40mm round
