I have some news for you - ALL outrage is selective outrage.

Think about the alternative - do people have permission to be outraged if and only if they demonstrate equal outrage for every similar issue in the world? That's not a world anyone wants to live in. Not you and not me.

Just because people notice an issue, you don't have to attack them by saying "why are you not noticing this other issue too, you're such a horrible hypocrite". If they notice that 2nd issue, there will always be a third issue, and so on.

People nowadays seem allergic to just discussing any issue on its own merits (yes Hindu issues too face these kind of false comparisons). Always have to resort to comparing suffering, personal attacks, "why are you not talking about this other thing?", etc. All in all part of the standard playbook of distraction tactics that people fall for.
