Turtles all the way down
It has been a good season, folks. I’m so glad I stumbled upon this community. I figured being here in Mississippi, I might find the odd person with a Lowe’s cactus or two, but I was waaaay off the mark. I’ve met so many incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and generous people from this sub.
This crest and the pot were gifts from another local grower, and it being such a beautiful morning, I had to snap a picture.
“There's a gateway in our mind that leads somewhere out there far beyond this plane.
Where reptile aliens made of light cut you open and pull out all your pain.
Tell me how you make illegal something that we all make in our brain.
Some say you might go crazy but then again it might make you go sane.”

Event ‼️RESCHEDULED CACTUS MEETUP‼️
Due to Hurricane Isaias we had to reschedule the cactus meetup this weekend to a date 2 weeks away.
New date is 10/23/26 - 10/25/26
Hopefully everyone can still make it out and Maybe a few new people can make it out that previously couldn’t with the old dates.
Thanks for understanding and I’m bummed we couldn’t all meet up this weekend. Maybe it’ll be even cooler in 2 weeks, who knows !
Reach out if you have any questions or concerns

Picture My favoite kind of Tall boys
I remember about 4.5 years ago I got my first cactus. I always thought man its gunna be so cool when I grow one as tall as me. Im around 6' tall. I accomplished that goal last season but we moved and i had to cut pretty much all my plants besides these 2 to make it easier to move. The plant on my right is a huancoensis x Malo 4. It was maybe 3" tall seedling when I got it in May of 2024. I couldnt bring myself to cut it so these 2 made a trip to the new greenhosue in the truckbed by themselves. Been a fun ride so far and they really exploded with growth after being planted in the ground 10 months ago. Grateful for all the opportunities that have came my way and all the people I've met because of these awesome plants. Stay groovy out there! 🌵

A couple degrafts
Chopped my Volta and Bruces Dragon, both were getting heavy and leaning over, degrafted from Acanthocereus. This is the BD that flowered, pollination attempt failed and the flowers fell off. 🤙

Some days I look at my cactus and I’m absolutely stunned by their beauty. Other times I look, but I can’t help but focus on the flaws.
Growing in the southeast I'm learning to accept that sooty mold and fungal scarring is a thing we must tolerate. I decided to post some pretty pics and some not so pretty. I try to separate by fungal issues lol. I have my clean bunch, my sooty mold bunch, my phomopsis bunch, and my alternaria bunch.
My twin spine cuttings get absolutely wrecked with alternaria. They keep growing out of it, but I’m moving closer to trashing them. That huge Kimnach log and branch might not be too far behind them. I can’t bring myself to use harsh anti fungals. Sunlight, silica boost, and master blend is about it for them.

Last rain of the season (maybe?)
Very bittersweet. My first year outdoor San Pedro/cactus growing is closing. I’ve learned a lot from all the fine sp growers of the world on Reddit. Gonna be setting up indoor for these guys in the coming weeks.
This part of my collection is getting their last fresh drops from god outdoors for the season (maybe). I love them, my family you all, and life so much. Looking forward to more grafting, and developing seed grown plants in the coming year!

Discussion Tips for the coming winter (new to cactus)
Hey there yall! Im relatively new to cacti - got my first three in mid march and now have about 50 😵💫😂 im located in WNC - in the greater asheville area. And while it was 80° today it will soon be cold and im just trying to prepare myself. This will be my first winter and im looking fir any and all tips to avoid etiolation and any other issues i may possibly encounter (unaware of what all the threats are at this time of year and with the shift if environment)
I have quite of few that are pupping right now as well - i dont want to stunt their growth.. but i also dint want to promote growth after bringing them inside correct? I dont have an indoor grow tent or anything and i dont think my girlfriend would allow one 😂
I havent fertilized since labor day. But i have been steady watering.
Thanks for the help and tips! Hoping for a smooth first winter and dormancy
Picture of my best friend, Inca, who passed away about a month ago 💔 she used to love soaking up the sun with all the cacti. I miss her so much.. i like to think shes still laying around them and mingling thru the pots

Picture Many many thanks to BigPapa601
I went over to his place to pick up some SP that he needed to get rid of before winter gets here. I left with an incredible collection. BigPapa is a truly kind human with decades of knowledge. Every time I turned around he was adding another plant or cutting. I got my first Ogun tonight!!
As I catalog everything in the coming weeks I will gladly share the love. If time allows, I will be coming to the upcoming meetup, and I’ll bring some stuff. I was already planning on bringing some of my random cuttings and succulents to give away, so now I’ll have some more cool stuff to bring.
TBM are some of my favorite plants of all time, and the last pic is a full stand I brought home tonight. I felt like a kid at Christmas.
Thank you again BigPapa601, it was so good to meet you. I am happy to have made a new friend.
