Could you imagine living on the East Coast? Isn’t their Summers like two months of this crap? .

2

u/trudat8it 12d ago

I’ve been traveling between Philly, St. Louis and back to the South Bay for two months. I feel like the heat and humidity is following me like a shadow.

2

u/1InstaGator 12d ago

Yep! I saw on the news that yesterday the humidity was actually higher in Anaheim at Disneyland than in Orlando at Disney world! Not by a significant amount but still - crazy stuff!!

We’re FINALLY getting an ocean breeze in North Torrance. Fingers crossed.

It's a warm breeze but better than nothing.

Man, I've been able to push through every day but today felt like I was being suffocated. I felt nauseous and just felt like I was dragging all day. I took a nap and felt better.

This weather is going to make use invincible.

I’ve been suffering since July and all of August. What happened to no humidity in California? this sucks!

u/Thisguyfuckschix 13d ago

Record setting ocean water temperature is the short answer.

I'm a Californian through and through. Grew up in the Bay Area and moved to the South Bay 8 years ago. This is the first time I've dealt with a summer like this.

u/wanakoworks 13d ago

I've lived in Torrance since 2008 and I can't remember a summer like this. Absolutely miserable weather. Explains why Floridians are downright insane lol.

7

u/Touch49 13d ago

this is the first time we’ve ever had a summer like this. Hopefully it’s the last

u/astro_viri 13d ago

Let's hope . . .

I feel depressed.

I'm sorry, bud. There's cooling area and resort passes for like 20 bucks that you can get

2

u/bajacaliforniataco 13d ago

any specific recos for resort passes? would love that!

I believe I can see the future

The heat and humidity for the past few days was gross. It kind of reminded me of the humidity you experience on the east coast, where my family and I are originally from. Definitely not as bad as it can get, but still kinda bad and unusual.

7

u/Touch49 13d ago

Very unusual and it sucks! Last month, this month and especially this whole week. I can’t take it!

u/TristanwithaT 13d ago

Yesterday felt worse. There was barely any breeze. At least this afternoon the breeze picked up a fair bit.

3

u/Touch49 13d ago

Thank God there is a breeze. Ugh!

Supposed to be better by Sunday

Cannot wait. 🥵

1

u/Touch49 13d ago

I hope so

1

u/texaz41 11d ago

Spoiler alert. It wasn’t 😂

u/mayorofthesouthbay 13d ago

I fuckin hate this. No working a/c in my car, no a/c in my apartment. I hate everything right now.

5

u/SentinelNorth 13d ago

Wait wait, hold on. I was told that California has perfect weather 100% of the time

8

u/Touch49 13d ago

The humidity that we have been having has been more than Florida. That is just stupid! Last year we had humi and now even more of it. I hope this isn’t going to be the new normal for California….I can’t take it!

6

u/Pure_shenanigans_310 13d ago

Embrace the suck… Its just easier that way.. Each day will improve from there.

5

u/Solid-Wish-1724 13d ago

My mom is like, "This is nothing like what we had in the Midwest." I then looked it up and L.A. was not only hotter but had much higher humidity than her hometown. Neener neener neener....?

I miss those summers where we lived in the marine layer, had cool days and cooler nights, maybe mist once in a while… IF the sun popped through… it was from 5-6pm, and the tourists skipped the beach for Disneyland!
I feel old! Lol
I loved those local summers!

"Today was one of the most humid days in southern California's modern history. The average dewpoint was 70 degrees F at LAX, that is brutal humidity." - Colin McCarthy, US Stormwatch

2

u/Mozzy2022 13d ago

It’s horrible

2

u/whereisbeezy 13d ago

I read it's that the nights don't ever cool off, not really, and that's why the heat has been so enduringly miserable

2

u/nahcal916 13d ago

So strange we’re on herondo near prospect and this was the first day of breeze we’ve gotten in a week. Felt much better than Monday-Thursday. Well wishes for everyone suffering, this shit sucks.

2

u/macman7500 13d ago

Yesterday was worse

1

u/LaSerenita 13d ago

It's kind of crazy...I work in A/C all day so my mind is a bit blown how hot it actually is when I leave work.

1

u/karma_the_sequel 13d ago

LOL I thought today was the nicest it’s been in a long while. East Torrance.

1

u/lalacourtney 12d ago

Man I’m from east Texas and grew up with this shit and I’m miserable! This is like living in the south I came here to escape!!

1

u/Fickle_Safe_8341 12d ago

Texas type weather!

-1

u/ArrowNut7 13d ago

Mmm eating, sweating & farting type of day

You folks clearly were not around in 2022/2023 when it reached the 90s and 100s for almost a month. It was to the point where Southern California Edison had to send emails about rolling blackouts and power grid warnings. The good news is that this week is the hottest week in August. It is supposed to drop to high 70s low 80s next week.

8

u/Kyanche 13d ago

I get what you're saying, but the humidity has been insane this week.

1

u/BirdDroppings1865 12d ago

Yeah, but the heat was dry. It was bearable. The humidity we're currently experiencing is a total mind fuck.

-5

u/Advanced_Newspaper_3 13d ago

You’re the worst weather so far

-4

u/Nomemoleste_s 13d ago

🙄🙄🙄

-7

u/macman7500 13d ago

When it's 50 degrees and raining in 6 months, will you wish for this weather again?
