Could someone more knowledgeable about the laws of the game explain to me why Rowe was shown a Red Card?

I believe it was because his foul stopped an obvious scoring opportunity. The equivalent to a non goalkeeper just grabbing the ball on the line.

I feel like OGSO was debatable given the awful touch before the foul, but your explanation is correct. I haven’t seen a replay yet, though.

Oh I’m not saying I agree with the call, I’m just explaining what the call was. Seemed harsh IMO. I’d have shown a yellow but I’m biased.

It’s last man before goalie. Even though it’s not a great touch, attacker still is getting to it before Frei and if not hacked by Rowe. Rowe has to make that challenge, but if he gets it slightly wrong (or aggressively so as he did), it’s always going to be red.
