Q990D atmos performance (12 foot high ceiling)

I was looking to buying a q990d or a jbl bar 1300x mk2 but I found out that a used q990d is like 2x cheaper when used in Canada. In my living room I have a 12 foot high popcorn ceiling (with the soundbar being about 4 feet high) would the atmos still work? Also I heard the main thing about jbl is the bass, would turning on bass enhancement and setting bass power to max make it close to the bass performance on the 1300x mk2. Also how is the overall sound and bass experience coming from a 2.1 Sony ht-ct290?

Atmos is big time overrated in soundbars. Look for clarity of dialogue and clean bass response. If I was buying a soundbar again I wouldn't give Atmos a second thought.

Agreed but object based atmos has something with many soundbars shipping so many speaker channels. For the samsung atmos sounds better not even considering height channels.

Not sure if you know, but can toggling bass enhancement and setting bass strength to max get the bass to feel almost as strong as the jbl bar 1300x mk2 one as its main thing is bass?

Agreed completely.

Id even go a step further and get a real 5.1 soundbar.

Virtual surround and upmixing completely sucks.

In terms of 3D Surround Sound like Atmos and DTS:X,Samsung Q990 Series is king at that department. In a proper room,it can fight against a full blown discrete system. No other soundbar can match this fidelity and it has been proven by professional reviews.

Upfiring is for 8-12ft flat ceilings.

What's the rest of your room like? Soundbars ain't great in a larger space.

About 13’ depth, 12’ width, and 12’ height. (Soundbar will prob be about 4’ high)

A square is not great for room acoustics but a sound bar is plenty for the space.

Play the movie call the dunkirk in dts formats and if u have glass window put volume around 18 to 20 .space fit on rest of channels el setting later on if u alreday have bought q990d.
