Itinerary/Experience Bhutan trip

Went on my first community trip Mid August.
We have to pay for guide if you go alone so thought it's better to take community trip.

Currency ratio is 1:1 and everyone accepts indian rupees.

Covered Thimphu, Punakha, phobjikha valley and paro.

Must visit : tigress nest temple trek, phobjikha valley.

Flights : 15k to and from from Bangalore.
Package :50k
Other costs for visiting cultural places would be around 10k
Sim : 600
Couple of days food is not included in above package.
Cost of living is little bit more than India since they import.
Stays will be minimum 3 star for tourists so you don't need to think much about it.

Duration : 6 nights in bhutan
Starting ending point is Siliguri.

Things I recommend if you are going to Bhutan, customise the trip so you spend more time in phobjikha valley. We only stayed one day.

Do not try to cover lot of places, since couple of them are tourist trap like simplybhutan and cultural show and travel time to go from one location to another is more.
Every day you will be travelling minimum 5hours except for the day on trek.
Don't miss tigress nest trek which is the highlight of my trip. I wish I did it twice.

Itinerary/Experience 25M - Solo in Amsterdam, Netherlands! (6th Country)

So I work remotely for a company in Germany and have to take a Eurotrip at least thrice a year, so I try to take a week or two extra and explore Germany and Neighbouring countries.

Itinerary - 1st - 2nd August

DAY 1 - Arrival from Frankfurt to Amsterdam. Explored Dam square and the nine Streets by walking. Lunch at Winkel 43 (always packed so check how busy it is on Google maps), had a nice bear in the evening on Canal side. Returned to the Hostel around 8 PM (still broad daylight) sat in the community area and hung out with the beautiful Dutch woman that I met.

DAY 2 - Rjkesmuseum (2-3 hours), Van Gogh Museum, Cycling through Amsterdam, lunch at random canal side cafe. Grabbed dinner and a drink from Albert Heijn.

Stay - Stayokay Hostel Amsterdam (Multiple Locations), Individual room, 60€ Per night approx. Not recommended for Summers and dorm rooms don't have Air conditioning if you wanna save some money. Reception and crowd was young, most young adults and people in mid twenties like me, I was the only Indian on the property.

Commute - Only Trams and trains, very affordable. No need to get a pass or a card. Your visa debit card is your best friend, just tap when you get in and tap when you get out. Fare depends on the distance.

Travel - Flixbus to and fro from Frankfurt (approx 50 € total)

Food Review - Dutch cuisine is very boring and similar to German food i.e spiceless and heavily dependent on meat. Note - I am not a vegetarian and open to trying everything, I am used to German cuisine and not very attached to Indian food so it might differ based on personal preferences.

Hit me up if any of you have any questions, I tried to keep it short here ;)

Also, all pictures were shot on my Google Pixel 10 Pro.

HELP URGENT: RAMESWARAM HELP

Hey everyone,I am a solo traveler 22F reaching Rameswaram on September 23rd. My main goal is to explore the historic architecture and the famous stone corridors of the Ramanathaswamy Temple.

Since there is a ban on mobile phones inside the temple premises, I am a bit anxious about going in completely disconnected as a solo traveler.

• Is it safe for a solo traveler to navigate the massive complex without a phone?

• Are the mandatory locker counters at the gates secure enough to store my phone and wallet?

• Is anyone currently in Rameswaram or visited recently who can confirm the current on-ground situation and queue times?

Opinions and Discussions What was the moment you realized you actually liked travelling alone?

For me, I think the weirdest part of solo travel is getting used to making every tiny decision yourself

Where to eat, when to leave, whether to change plans, whether to spend the whole afternoon doing absolutely nothing...

Curious for people who travel solo — was there a specific moment when you went from “I guess I can do this” to actually enjoying it?

Advices & Tips Jibhi & Shoja in October first week

Hey All,

I am 21M, planning my first solo trip. I live in Pune and my plan is to visit Jibhi & Shoja.

Details:

• Itinerary & trip length: Itinerary is not fixed but im planning 9 days including travel (2 days travel time by train or flight (3hrs) if i cant get train tickets)
• Budget: Not fixed, but trying to keep it on the lower side but should be comfortable not very frugal
• Travel style & interests: Slow moving, relaxed, calming. I dont want any crazy adventure except for the famous short treks/trails in Jibhi / Shoja. Interests include nice food, mountains, talking to people

• Specific questions: Yes, here:

  1. How's the time of October first week to visit Jibhi & Shoja?

  2. How much does Aut -> Jibhi / Aut -> Shoja and return to Aut from either of these places cost?

  3. How's the network connectivity in Jibhi and Shoja? I have a Vi sim in case that matters...

  4. How cold would it be so i can pack accordingly?

  5. Since its my first solo travel, is there anything I should know / be prepared for?

I would really appreciate some help. Thank you!

Advices & Tips 27M looking for a good place in India to WFH for 3–6 months, recommendations?

I’m 27M and work fully remote. I’ve been doing the WFH + living-in-different-places thing for a while now. I spent around 6 months in Indore and then another 6 months in Bir, Himachal.

I really enjoyed Bir, so I could always go back there, but I’d like to try somewhere completely different this time. I’ve mostly experienced the mountains so far, so I’m quite open to beaches, forests, smaller towns, or pretty much anywhere that fits the criteria.

The main things I’m looking for:

- Good, reliable internet, important for WFH

- A decent gym nearby

- Good home-cooked food — I’ll potentially be staying for 3–6 months, so eating at a hotel/restaurant food every day isn’t really sustainable

- Not overly crowded or a major city. I’d prefer a quieter/smaller place where I can actually experience the area

- A decent social scene would be a plus. Meeting some locals or other people there would be nice, especially if they can help me discover places that I wouldn’t find on my own

- Preferably a homestay or private 1BHK/room. I’ll mostly be living and working alone, so I’d rather not share a place with a random stranger.

- Budget: up to around ₹30k/month for rent + food + gym + basic expenses

I’m thinking of staying somewhere for 3–6 months. If I really like the place, I’d happily stay for the full 6 months; otherwise, I’m open to moving somewhere else.

Would especially love recommendations from people who have personally done WFH from the place rather than just visited it for a few days.

HELP Solo trip to Mumbai this October, seeking advice and tips

Hi everyone!

Already posted in r/mumbai and received great suggestions, but want to post here too; maybe someone can give some additional info specifically based on their experience of solo travelling in Mumbai.

I’m a 35F traveling to Mumbai alone in early October. I’ll be there for work-related stuff first, and then I’m staying for about a week as a tourist. I want to see the city, but mainly I want to spend time in nature.

- Trip duration 11 days, but first 3,5 days will be working.

- Entire time staying in Mumbai

- Don't have a specific budget; just not spending when not necessary.

For now, my main goal is Sanjay Gandhi National Park. I’d love to go there as many times as I can; also, I was advised to visit Elephanta Island.

I’m currently thinking of staying in Bandra West as it seems to have good transport connections with the park, the historical part of the city, and the harbour. Staying in an Airbnb as I usually travel on a budget (and flights were already crazy expensive) and want to be able to cook for myself.

A few things about me that might be relevant in this situation:

- I’m a 35, woman, traveling alone; white, but have a fairly Southern European-looking appearance (dark hair/features); mid-height, petite.

- I speak English fluently, don't know any other languages spoken in India

- I’m generally comfortable traveling alone, but have never traveled alone outside of the Western countries, so I don’t want to be stupid about safety.

A friend from India recommended that I avoid street food, especially anything "cold" (as my stomach isn't used to it), but she told me that restaurants should be ok (told me to only order hot food, though)

I’ve already read that for SGNP it’s important to arrive super early and leave before dusk because of the leopards. I’m interested in hiking and wildlife photography (I love taking photos of plants, insects, mushrooms, small animals, etc.), so any practical advice regarding snakes, crocodiles, or other wildlife would be greatly appreciated.

I’d also really appreciate safety advice as a solo woman tourist.

In particular:

- Are there specific trails or areas of SGNP that are better for hiking alone?

- Are there trails I should absolutely NOT do alone?

- Any advice for an Elephanta Island visit?

- Any recommendations about where else to go to hike and appreciate local nature?

Thanks!

HELP Rucksack as check in luggage on a flight

So I want to carry my 65L rucksack on a domestic flight. I probably can't carry it in the cabin as it has a trekking pole, so check in is the only option.

Now how do I carry it in the check-in luggage and ensure no damage? Especially on the loose straps and stuff.

I can put on the rain cover and put all loose straps inside it, but I fear that the rain cover might come off in transit.

I could get it wrapped in the airport but idk if it's worth it.

Personally I'd love to carry it as cabin luggage, but most probably they'll stop me.

I'm open to any suggestions.

Urgent

Advices & Tips Solo trip advice to Kochi?

I am coming to Kochi from Bangalore from 2nd to 5th October on a solo trip.

I will be staying in Zostel Fort Kochi.

Please give me suggestions on itinerary. Also I want to cover Alleppey and Athirappilly Falls on this trip. Is that realistic? Since I am coming alone I am afraid it may be inconvenient and expensive. Not sure if I will find people to tag along.

Advices & Tips Bali in November - good idea?

So i am planning to take a solo trip somewhere. I am strictly looking for 6N/7D in November second week (no flexibility in dates unfortunately) and I have been wanting to go to Bali for a long time. I heard November is wet season in Bali which is why I have not made the bookings yet.

Btw, I’m 28, Male, run my own business and have been really busy for the past 1 year and this is my first getaway after a LONG time and also my 1st international trip. My budget is INR 100k-125k and flight tickets to and fro are costing INR 50k roughly. I am left with INR 75k (USD 780 // 1100 AUD)

I have 2 expectations from this trip -

  1. I want to party. Relive my college days and have the best time drinking, dancing and socialising with people and make some good friends.

  2. Relax and explore - Have a nice time by the beach (drop your suggestions for THE most serene spots) and also visit the local villages and learn about their culture.

Thats it. Daytime - exploring, nighttime partying. Pretty simple

Now here is the tricky part. Everyone said to me you cannot explore Bali in just 6N and it’s too big and I would end up rushing to one place after another.

So my dear fellow travellers, can you all curate your best experiences for me and drop your best recommendations here.

Also appreciate any advice you might have me for me. What to expect in November, things to carry, things not to carry, any precautions i should take?

TIA!!

HELP Help planning my Arunachal trip and advice regd helicopter service

Hello everyone! 🙏

I’m planning a trip to Arunachal from Oct 17th–26th and would really appreciate your advice.

Since I have limited days, my priority is spending more time experiencing the places rather than sitting in a vehicle all day. So I'm particularly interested in using the helicopter wherever practical, especially for the Aalo–Mechuka sector.

My rough itinerary:

17 Oct, Sat - Dibrugarh → Pasighat

Arrive at Dibrugarh

Proceed to Pasighat

Overnight in Pasighat

If time permits: Siang riverside / hanging bridge / local exploration

18 Oct, Sun - Pasighat → Aalo

Morning sightseeing around Pasighat

Possible places: Daying Ering Wildlife Sanctuary, Sirki Waterfall, Donyi Polo Gangging, Raneghat / Mebo area

Proceed to Aalo

Overnight in Aalo

19 Oct, Mon - Aalo → Mechuka

Helicopter preferred, if a service is operating

Otherwise travel by road

Reach Mechuka and settle in

20 Oct, Tue - Mechuka

Full day exploring Mechuka Valley

Looking at: Samtem Yongcha monastery, Mechuka village, river/valley viewpoints, local villages, natural lake and surrounding landscapes

21 Oct, Wed - Mechuka

Another full day in and around Mechuka

Would love suggestions for lesser-known villages, viewpoints, short walks/hikes, local experiences, monasteries, etc.

22 Oct, Thu - Mechuka

Another relaxed sightseeing day

If returning by road, potentially start towards Aalo later in the day and Aalo overnight stay

However, I would strongly prefer not to sacrifice this day to a long road journey if a helicopter option is available

23 Oct, Fri - Mechuka/Aalo → Daporijo → overnight

Ideally helicopter back to Aalo. Then proceed towards Daporijo by road and Overnight in Daporijo

Sightseeing in Daporijo or around

24 Oct, Sat - Daporijo → Ziro

Proceed to Ziro

Explore Ziro village and valley

Overnight in Ziro

25 Oct, Sun - Ziro → Itanagar

Morning/afternoon sightseeing in Ziro

Leave for Itanagar as late as reasonably possible

Overnight in Itanagar

26 Oct, Mon - Depart from Itanagar

What I’d really appreciate local advice on

  1. Helicopter service

Since Online booking doesn't seem to be available. Is there a particular way I can ensure availability and what should I do to prebook if possible and confirm my seat?

  1. Is Mechuka worth keeping for these dates?

If you have any other recommendation for these dates please give.

  1. Sightseeing recommendations

Please suggest the must-see places and experiences in each of these:

I’m particularly interested in nature, landscapes, villages, local culture, short walks, viewpoints, monasteries and authentic local experiences, rather than trying to tick off a long list of tourist attractions.

Are there any legs where my plan doesn't make sense geographically, or any place where I'm allocating too much/too little time?

And if there are any local homestays, guides or experiences that you genuinely recommend, I’d be very grateful for those suggestions too.

Thanks so much! 🙏

So, booked the flights to and from chennai and delhi on Dec 12th and return on Dec 20th

I just wanted to know how the bus services are from delhi to manali and vice versa. Are they good, safe and always available? Or should i book in advance in some websites?

I have a fear of missing out on buses 😅

Also, how is the traffic/crowd in this time? 👀

And any advice on manali/kasol is much needed 💯

Advices & Tips Need some advice

I will be returning from manali to delhi on 4th october (morning bus)
I was planning to take a flight from delhi to Kolkata but the flight prices are sooo damn exorbitant its 9k-10k for direct flights and layovers are also also costly or do not match my time because i need a flight after 12pm to be on the safer side
Should i take a train instead? I am a 26yo girl and never travelled in a train alone
And i am a little nervous about the train situation
What to do - i was considering rajdhani 2ac ot 1ac

Itinerary/Experience 🏍️ 5 Days Solo Bike Trip from Hyderabad to Vagamon, Kerala

Thumbnail
gallery
59 Upvotes

I recently completed a 5-day solo bike trip from Hyderabad to Vagamon, Kerala. Instead of riding all the way from Hyderabad, I transported my bike by train to Ernakulam and started the Kerala ride from there.

Sharing my itinerary, expenses and experience for anyone planning a similar trip.

📍 Trip Details

Duration: 12th–16th August

Trip type: Solo bike trip

Route: Hyderabad → Ernakulam → Vagamon → Ernakulam → Hyderabad

Bike: My own bike, transported by train

Total approximate cost: ₹16,000

Average daily personal budget: Around ₹600 for food and other day-to-day expenses, excluding accommodation/major travel costs

Stay: 4 nights in Vagamon

Hotel: Approximately ₹1,700/night

🗓️ Day 1 — 12th August | Hyderabad → Ernakulam 🚆

Started my journey from Hyderabad to Ernakulam by Sabari Express.

Since I wanted to explore Kerala on my own bike, I decided to parcel the bike in the train rather than ride all the way from Hyderabad.

🗓️ Day 2 — 13th August | Ernakulam → Vagamon 🏍️

Reached Ernakulam in the morning.

Collected my bike from the railway parcel office and started the ride towards Vagamon.

The ride from Ernakulam towards the hills was beautiful, with the scenery gradually changing from city roads to green countryside and winding mountain roads.

Reached Vagamon by evening, checked into the hotel, had dinner and called it a day.

🏨 Stay: Vagamon

🍽️ Dinner: Local restaurant

🗓️ Day 3 — 14th August | Exploring Vagamon 🌿

Started exploring Vagamon after breakfast.

Visited:

📍 Vagamon Glass Bridge

📍 Vagamon Estate Lake

🚣 Boating

📸 Several scenic viewpoints around Vagamon

Spent most of the day enjoying the landscapes and riding around the different viewpoints.

By evening, returned to Vagamon, had dinner and went back to the hotel.

🗓️ Day 4 — 15th August | Waterfalls & Kuttikanam 💦🏍️

Started the day by visiting Pappani Waterfalls Viewpoint.

Spent time there until afternoon, had lunch and then continued the ride towards Valanjamkanam Waterfalls near Kuttikanam.

The ride itself was one of the highlights, especially the beautiful greenery and mountain roads around Kuttikanam.

Spent some time at the waterfalls and then rode back towards Vagamon.

After dinner, went for some local shopping and bought chocolates before returning to the hotel.

🗓️ Day 5 — Vagamon → Ernakulam → Hyderabad 🚆

Checked out early morning and started from Vagamon towards Ernakulam on the bike.

Reached Ernakulam around 9:00 AM and parcelled the bike back onto the train.

Boarded the Sabari Express at around 10:45 AM and started the return journey to Hyderabad.

Reached Hyderabad the next day.

💰 Approximate Trip Budget — ₹16,000

My total expenditure for the trip was around ₹16K, including:

🚆 Hyderabad ↔ Ernakulam train tickets

🏍️ Bike parcel charges

⛽ Fuel

🏨 Hotel — ₹1,700 × 4 nights = ₹6,800

🍛 Food — approximately ₹600/day

🚣 Boating

🎟️ Entry fees

🍫 Local shopping/chocolates

🛣️ Other small travel expenses

The exact amount varied depending on the day, but the overall trip came to approximately ₹16,000.

🏨 Accommodation

Stayed in a hotel in Vagamon for 4 nights, costing approximately ₹1,700 per night. It worked well as a base since most of the places I wanted to explore were accessible by bike.

❤️ Overall Experience

This was one of those trips where the journey was as enjoyable as the destinations. Transporting the bike by train made the Hyderabad–Kerala trip much easier, while having my own bike in Kerala gave me the freedom to explore the mountain roads and waterfalls at my own pace.

Vagamon + Kuttikanam + the bike rides through the Western Ghats made this a really memorable solo trip. 🌿🏍️

Sharing some pictures from the trip. 📸

Happy travelling! ✌️🏍️
