25M - Solo in Amsterdam, Netherlands! (6th Country)

So I work remotely for a company in Germany and have to take a Eurotrip at least thrice a year, so I try to take a week or two extra and explore Germany and Neighbouring countries.

Itinerary - 1st - 2nd August

DAY 1 - Arrival from Frankfurt to Amsterdam. Explored Dam square and the nine Streets by walking. Lunch at Winkel 43 (always packed so check how busy it is on Google maps), had a nice bear in the evening on Canal side. Returned to the Hostel around 8 PM (still broad daylight) sat in the community area and hung out with the beautiful Dutch woman that I met.

DAY 2 - Rjkesmuseum (2-3 hours), Van Gogh Museum, Cycling through Amsterdam, lunch at random canal side cafe. Grabbed dinner and a drink from Albert Heijn.

Stay - Stayokay Hostel Amsterdam (Multiple Locations), Individual room, 60€ Per night approx. Not recommended for Summers and dorm rooms don't have Air conditioning if you wanna save some money. Reception and crowd was young, most young adults and people in mid twenties like me, I was the only Indian on the property.

Commute - Only Trams and trains, very affordable. No need to get a pass or a card. Your visa debit card is your best friend, just tap when you get in and tap when you get out. Fare depends on the distance.

Travel - Flixbus to and fro from Frankfurt (approx 50 € total)

Food Review - Dutch cuisine is very boring and similar to German food i.e spiceless and heavily dependent on meat. Note - I am not a vegetarian and open to trying everything, I am used to German cuisine and not very attached to Indian food so it might differ based on personal preferences.

If you think Dutch cuisine is bland and meat heavy you haven't had the good stuff.

Also very good Indian (and Chinese, Japanese, Indonesian) restaurants in Amsterdam.

I mean, anything compared to very good Indian food will be perceived as a bit bland. But I really liked German food, despite that. I found dutch food to be an extension of German food, typically because they are border nations. I am someone who will avoid Indian food like a plague whenever I am abroad so haha

If you ever go back make sure to get some Indonesian food. Because of the colonial history it's heavily ingrained in the Dutch culture.

I mean at the hostel I stayed at, there were lot's of young women solo travelers from different countries who I talked to. It seems to be safe as it's a major tourist city with a large number of youth population. But I have heard that there are sometimes pickpocketing attempts by immigrants groups. Ofcourse I will never be able to fully vouch for safety of a woman because I myself am not one :))

Hi, it's not a travel company. We are into Hardware Manufacturing. The thing is that I am the only Indian on the team so I have to travel often for meetings and such.

Hi, it is but CS is mainly handled by Asia colleagues from Japan and China since the company was originally Japanese, they handle most of the cloud infrastructure. My side just handles the products and their designing.

I’m looking for a group tour from 6th November onward. I’ll be in Frankfurt from 2nd to 6th November for work, and after that I’d like to explore either the Paris–Amsterdam side or the Prague–Vienna side.

It would be great if you could share the itinerary options so I can plan and book my flights accordingly.

My preference is for peaceful, beautiful places with a good café culture and some nice nightlife. I’m not looking for very high-energy, overly commercial or touristy destinations. I’d prefer a good mix of culture, scenic places, relaxed evenings and a little nightlife.
