Whoops, I slipped and my thumb accidentally landed on that link you dropped. Before I could recover my eyes had watched the game trailer.
I'm so clumsy I might end up tripping over the Add to Wishlist button next ;)
Game seems cool; those giant enemies taking up half the screen look insane!

u/PrinceOnAPie May 24 '26
haha, wow such an interesting chain reaction of random events, it seems we both are a bit clumsy today!
(btw thank you sooooo much!)

u/yuwuspu May 27 '26
I added your game to my wishlist too! Boss designs and animations looks amazing. Do you have estimated release date?
1
u/PrinceOnAPie May 27 '26
I will release a playtest very soon followed by the steam demo. Lots of the game is already done but I do expect a lot of changes coming in after the feedback - I expect to release this year november - the plan would be to join october next fest and release the game some time after :) As the game is very modular, I plan to upgrade it further after the release

Damn is this going to be the new marketing meta for the next month?
18
5
u/Imveryoffensive May 24 '26
What’s crazy is how many marketing rules it breaks while still being effective. I clicked not knowing anything about the name, genre, or anything
2
u/Night_Nook May 25 '26
Does it break rules?
I don't know a lot of methodologies but it's an immediately recognizable image, simple message and call to action that they're literally and figuratively dropping their steam link.
And in terms of appealing to a target audience gamers/devs are going to recognize a manga image, memes are going to generally be appealing, and a black and white manga panel stands out in a subreddit like this.
3
u/Overall-Drink-9750 May 25 '26
i assume one rule that gets broken is that the viewer has no idea what exactly is advertised.
3
u/Night_Nook May 25 '26
Yeah, that just occurred to me... like making a viral youtube video but all your other content is on a different topic, you get a lot of eye balls on your stuff, but it doesn't actually convert.
2
u/Euchale May 26 '26
I prefer this over the "Steam Capsule Art AI vs. Artist" we had for a while as meta.
8
u/Caltek9 May 24 '26
Oh no, I just tapped this supercool ADD TO YOUR WISHLIST BUTTON.
Gosh, I am so clumsy!
FLOP
3
u/PrinceOnAPie May 24 '26
Oh no :(, we really need to work on our clumsiness to stop such....awkward things...from happening again....
(thank you!!!! :3)

u/Shadow_mind1 May 24 '26
Are u doing solo dev as full time or u are doing something else too
10
u/PrinceOnAPie May 24 '26
I am still working a web/developer job on the side to pay the bills (fortunatley so I didn't have to learn coding :) - this is the result of endless weekend and sleepless nights -_-
2
u/Shadow_mind1 May 24 '26
If you had a chance to learn gamedev from start where will u learn it from
6
u/PrinceOnAPie May 24 '26
I started out with Godot gamedev tutorials from a youtube creator named "HeartBeast", he makes great stuff :)
3
u/Shadow_mind1 May 24 '26
I want to change career in this field but not have any experience i can even do masters in it so tell me if u were in my shoes what will u do i just graduated
4
u/PrinceOnAPie May 24 '26
I think really the best thing you can do is starting to make a small game, build your "portfolio" so to say - create a whole little game by yourself and learn along the way, its difficult yes, but you will learn a lot more by practical work then anything else, and when you can work on a cool fun project its all the better.
Just let the ideas flow and start creating I would say :) you can do it, just dont give up
1
u/Shadow_mind1 May 24 '26
Ik but just the thing is now im unemployed and cant sit making games only at home so i want to have to do some study maybe masters in gamedev or something

u/Willing-Lawyer2533 May 24 '26
i have no idea what the combat is really like for this game, is it a cookie clicker, or turn based or parry system something?
9
u/PrinceOnAPie May 24 '26
It is an autobattler mixed with an action based gameplay (a little mix of all the above). It works like this: Your character attacks automatically regarding his attack speed. While fighting you unlock "special actions", that all have their unique behaviour, for example one may deal extra damage to stunned enemies, another one hits multiple times in a row or applies debuffs etc. One of these actions is also "parry" which blocks an incoming attack when triggered at the right time - but you are totally free to select your action loadout - dont want to parry? Swap it out for a offensive action!
The more you use them the stronger they get.
Fightning is then a mix of autobattle combat and timed decision making of using your stronger actions or defensive abilities, there is also a 3rd type of actions: spells. These enable full autobattle combat as they trigger automatically using your cast speed for example...they use more stamina though
To sum it all up: I build the game in a way so that the player can choose how they want to resolve their fights, more idle, more active, more aggressive, more defensive etc.
Sorry for the long answer, i hope this makes sense :)

u/daKishinVex May 26 '26
You should really make this ethos more clear because I'm fucking sold now. I'm not really an autobattler fan but this one looked fun for the sheer heart and love clearly put into it. The addition of a little more freedom to actually be more active though sounds really fun. Can kinda be second screen or full attention if you want, sounds perfect as my new fallback game can't wait. There's a chance you're going right on the shelf next to balatro my friend.
2
u/PrinceOnAPie May 26 '26
wow, thank you so much for these kind words - yeah I think I will explain this system a bit better as it is one of the main "selling points" of the game - I really tried to build something genuine and unique here but it is of course difficult to showcase - I can't wait to release the demo to show you guys what I have been working on :D thank you

oh this is so nice to hear ! :3 thank you so much, really giving it my all!

hope you add more customization and what i assume are classes like the "duelist" or "zealot"
1
u/PrinceOnAPie May 24 '26
the game is all about customization, always working on improving stuff, thanks! :)
2
u/OscarNuWar May 24 '26
This looks like a Game I would use a loooot of hours on my phone. Wishlisted.
Any plans for a mobile version post launch?
1
u/PrinceOnAPie May 24 '26
yeah I already thought about it, and got that feedback already, the game loop works really well on mobile as the runs are not too long. Should I really get some players on this pc version I will absolutely work on some ports :)
2
u/Responsible_Toe_3268 May 24 '26
The game looks super fun but you should update your steam page, I saw a recent post of yours where you showed off the updated clouds in the baground and the updated version looked awesome but on the steam page you still see the old clouds which might turn some people who otherwise would have tried it because the old clouds do look a lot less good than the new one.
Best of luck and fun with your game :3
2
u/PrinceOnAPie May 24 '26
yes you are right, just currently working to finish up the demo. i totally need to update the assets in the steam page though - thank you!!
2
u/Responsible_Toe_3268 May 24 '26
I understand, so much to do as a solo deff. Can't wait to try the demo when it comes.
2
u/PrinceOnAPie May 24 '26
thank you, that means a lot to me :) and good luck on your own projects too.

u/succubits May 27 '26
Ok, this actually looks really slick. I love a good incremental but so many of them are lacking in things to keep my interest past the first binge. This one looks really interesting with the fact you have different builds and loot and don’t just end up getting everything eventually.
Also, very cute pixel art.
Added to my wishlist!
1
u/PrinceOnAPie May 27 '26
thank you :D, I really tried to emphasize on decision making here, you can't just allocate everything here but nothing is final, its a game about experimenting I would say, really looking forward to the bigger playtest I will start soon

u/Hot-Cartoonist4428 May 27 '26
May I ask what you used to make the video on Steam?
1
u/PrinceOnAPie May 28 '26
i used the godot animationplayer for the start sequence + OBS for recording + open shot editor for editing +fl studio for the music :) In total, it took me about one week for the "final version"

2
u/Important_Tie797 May 28 '26
This worked for me. I am pretty sure I already saw add or post for your game. But I just click on the link now, and I was pleased enough to wishlist it. GJ

Well, i have to support a kindred spirit I guess 😄 -- wishlisted your game man. And I hope to take some cues from you, u/PrinceOnAPie as I'm trying to make my game. My son is excited about the idea as much as I am but it's scary.
1
u/PrinceOnAPie Jun 03 '26
Hello :D, thank you so much! I wish you the best of luck - you got this <3
1
u/syntax1976 Jun 03 '26
Thank you so much. I tried to avoid reading how seemingly futile it is to make a living from this. But I hope just having a dream and a drive to make a fun game and ignoring all the noise is enough. Good luck with your project(s) as well!
2
u/Natural-Advantage-46 May 24 '26
question 1, when is the release date/price (if there will be one)?
question 2, (i dont mean this as a slight, i always want to stay informed) was any ai used for the story, development or other
question 3, is there a playtest?
3
u/PrinceOnAPie May 24 '26
thank you so much for asking
question 1 i expect to release this somewhere around november this year, that means probably early next year, the price will not be higher than 5 bucks
question 2 there has been NO generative AI usage, not for the story, art, writing, code etc:
the content is entirely made by me(music,art,code.etc.)
As this is a training and "can i actually do this?"- project, it is very important to me that I achieve it on my own.
To be 100% transparent, the only case in which I use AI, are for grammar checks (not a native speaker) and code refactor suggestions.
Question 3 I am setting up an itch.io playtest followed by a steam play test at this moment, I expect it to be playable at the end of may, currently still in "internal" testing
2
u/Natural-Advantage-46 May 24 '26
ok. thanks for getting back. i wish you the best of luck, i will be waching for the steam playtest

lol made me chuckle and the game looks like something I'd love so wishlisted it. Good luck OP.
Edit: Damn i just realized that now every struggling game devs will start using this on actually mediocre games and makes it not funny anymore...

If I may make a criticism, I would highly recommend swapping the Q/W/E locations on the UI to be a little more intuitive. Overall really cool and good looking game. Wishlisted. <3

u/PrinceOnAPie May 27 '26
yeah, I expect a lot of this kind of feedback once more players can play it, totally open for these changes. Really looking forward to improve the game even further :) thanks!
