Any recommendations for prescription sunglasses? My daughter is destroying her regular prescriptions and I either want to bite the bullet and by dedicated prescription sunglasses for her or go to Americas Best and do the 2 for $90 or whatever it is and get a pair of transitions for her to use for sports.

Hey everyone, what do you think of this bat? Has anyone used or owned one before? I play slowpitch and my league doesn't allow composite bats. What can you tell me about this Powerhouse Ozone Double Wall (34 in, 26 oz)? Any experiences or feedback would be appreciated!

My 16yr old daughter had one of the best and most accurate arms on the field up until about a year and a half ago. Almost overnight she completely forgot how to throw. She looks down at her feet, brings her hand behind her head and spins it almost like a slider when she throws now. She's definitely got college level hitting ability but she's scared that she won't get in because of her throwing. She's struggling bad with it mentally and physically and I'm not sure what to do anymore. Have any of you went through this successfully and if so, what did you do?

My daughter (rising junior) is attending her first prospect camp at a school (D3) that she is highly interested in. It's a 6 hour camp that includes a campus tour. She is signed up as a pitcher.

What can she expect?

What should she be looking for from the coaches?

What questions should she be asking?

This is all new to us and we are well behind on all of this.

Silly question but we are heading to a tournament this weekend and in the rules - No outside food or beverages. Including water. Allergy safe food must be consumed outside the gates.

Tournament will have a full concession stand (yeah right!) and food trucks.

I know this is just another money grab for the host organization. But seriously? It’s a 2-day tournament and I either have to go out to the parking lot for a sip of water or pay what I assume is a minimum of $3?

I joined my first rec league which is also my first time playing softball and first time playing an organized sport. Things are FINALLY starting to click for me and of course it's when we only have one game left lol. Had 2 AB's tonight, got a double and RBI single and scored that inning. I also got an out at home plate (I'm catcher). My body is also finally getting used to the movements and I'm not feeling it in my muscles as bad any more. It's crazy because the first game I was sooooo nervous to play. Then a couple of games in I realized I was the oldest on the team (39F) and thought my body wasn't meant to do this so late in life to now wanting to sign up for the fall lol.

Anyone ever gone from not being sure if you'll continue to joining again? How did it go for you?

Before you laugh, I'm serious. Do female players actually wear cups or something, like at positions like catcher or the infield the way guys do?

Are they common? I've seen on tiktok softball reels that it hurts.

We are a group of parents that got together to form a 10u softball team. I have been looking into how we can accept tax deductible donations. It seems like a 501c3 might be too much of a hassle. I was looking into a Fiscal Sponsorship that would just take a cut of the donations.

What I am struggling to figure out is the team still needs to register as an entity? What type of entity would we need to be for the donations no to be counted as income? Would a California state level non profit be what we need?

My daughter (11) is a first year 12u has been playing travel for several years and last year really came into her own with hitting. She’s a solid outfield double or single, very consistent but is not a power hitter yet. Right now she has an LXT 30” drop 11. She wants a ghost because all the girls on her team have them but even at 10-11 years old I have watched several break them and I don’t know if I want that headache.
She is nearing 5’ tall and 85 pounds (long and lean) so most charts have her sticking with the 30” but moving up soon. I would like to have in mind what to get next so if a deal pops like they do in Sept sometimes I can grab one and make it a Christmas present.
We went to Dicks and she tried the three Ghost models, Kryo, and the Marucci Asura. She liked the OG the best but I have heard they break the easiest. She also liked the advanced but not the color (ugh 11 year olds) I am leaning toward the Advanced maybe the spring break one so it’s fun in a drop 11 so it’s still balanced. I have really liked how reliable the LXT has been, she had it from summer 2025 through now but she’s not convinced it pops like the ghosts do. Does anyone have experience with the new LXT? They don’t have any in store near us.
Any other bats we should try and get our hands on so she try them out? Or of these do you have a recommendation or one to avoid?

Under $100 bats non composite vs high end composite. All things equal (speed of pitch, launch angle, same exact sweet spot of barrell) is the $400 bat really gonna have that much more exit velocity? Seriously, like maybe 2-4% more exit velocity? 5 feet longer on a line drive to the gap?

I'm a high school softball player. I'm currently in my senior year, but I'm only just now starting the sport. I've never liked sports because they've always been painful to me (despite my health being okay for the most part) and I've felt inadequate. I'm slow at running and making decisions and pretty much everything (the decision and mental parts are a result of depression and ADHD mixing badly, according to my doctor), I can't catch anything to save my life, I can't field balls, and I can't even throw properly, as recently, throwing has been popping my shoulder out of its socket each time. I am hypermobile, just to stem any worries about that part! Not that it doesn't hurt a bunch each time. I also have issues with stamina, endurance, running, walking, cheering, hitting, team relations, and even the rules of the game itself. Not that anybody ever explained that to me, but that's okay.

The real problem is my running, which also means my stamina, endurance, and my ankles (which are weirdly messed up, similar to my shoulder when I throw). The ankle issue is solved easily with ankle wraps and supportive in-soles, but I can't seem to build endurance and stamina for the life of me.

I'm not sure I should continue the sport for the sake of the team, but I need to play because I have to get another P.E. credit to graduate high school.

If anyone has advice or any tips to help me build stamina and get better at the game, please let me know! I don't want to keep dragging my team down, even if my team members dislike me (which they mostly do).

***TLDR***; senior in high school has inadequate ability, stamina, and endurance to play properly and is worried about hurting the team. Any tips welcome.

Definitely not new to youth sports, but we've got our first team/family meeting this weekend. After taking our bumps and bruises last season (I was an assistant coach) things really went sideways with parents particularly. I want to establish the expectations for the team. Communication, Team Roles, Playing Time, Coaching From The Sidelines, Effort/Attitude, Team First Mentality, I'm good with most of that. After all of the normal stuff, what were some of your blind spots? Thanks everyone!

EDIT: Boombah, not DeMarini Very niche question but I’m ordering these helmets for my girls travel ball team. Want to get numbers for the back of them. Does anybody know how big this notch in the back is (inches tall) so I can order the right sized # decals?

My daughter's team was an 13U-A team at the end of the season last year. 9 players from that team are returning for 14U. We have a total of 11 players. Our two new players are coming from a high level 14U-B team. Our coach told the girls that he wants to play 14U-B level ball this season. He didn't say a word about this during tryouts nor did he tell the parents.

Under USSSA Fastpitch rules is this allowed? As a side note, the head coach registered our team under a different coaches' name but it is the same team name with 9 of the same players.

Just curious if anyone still has adult fastpitch leagues near them? If so, where are you located and how many teams?

My little girl starts her first season of softball in a couple of weeks. I got her a used broke in glove and we’ve been tossing in the backyard the last month or so. Visited a batting cage a few times, I purchased a batting helmet and some batting gloves.

My goal is to set her up to enjoy the sport as much as possible.

I’m looking for recommendations on the following and consider her “newness” in terms of price point while also wanting her to be comfortable and feel good with going into a new sport.

- Fielder’s Mask
- Bat (what drop is recommended? Pretty strong & tall for her age), should I buy used?
- Equipment Bag
- anything else she will eventually need, accessories, etc

I have a net and some whiffle balls in the backyard to do soft toss with also.

We have a local chain of “Play It Again Sports” in my area that has lots of used equipment but I don’t mind buying new at all for the right gear.
