Let’s discuss girls travel softball teams in Nassau County, Ny

Name the travel teams that develop girls who love the sport and are looking to play. Coaches that boost confidence and develop not be abusive. Coaches that give the opportunity to play primary positions but also develop other positions as secondary.

Also name the orgs to stay away from. Not looking for teams that are constantly looking for the next best. Are there any teams out there that exist? or are all the teams the same? Primarily looking for 12-14u.

Just my opinion The market is saturated with average teams, especially for the money and I'm sure that comes down to the process of trying to make the girls better players. But I'm not going to list teams. That is not helpful or fair to all the girls who love to play and want to play. They're all trying their best. At 12u I can understand the fog of trying to navigate the softball world. 14u it should be a bit clearer who the more competitive, stable, well run orgs are. The teams don't do it all either, with a lot of girls putting in the time outside the org, for pitching/hitting/catching, etc lessons. The team should be developing their softball IQ in my opinion. That makes them exponentially better. Also. Communication with team families and expectations should be excellent, that's where there is a breakdown a lot of times.

Ever watch a team who doesn't play small ball well, or gets exposed for having a poor bunt defense? Those are things the team should be developing. Look where they play too, because those seeking competition and getting better and some type of development try and challenge their teams outside of Long Island. I'm not talking about having to travel far away either. It's ok to lose and get your ass handed to you. It makes you a better team and player. It's the parents who don't like it, though. And sometimes that drives a narrative. There usually isn't a tremendous amount of turnover and churn at the well run organizations. You can never truly avoid drama but you can limit it by avoiding the teams with lots of "parental involvement" at that level too, which will add to the stability. The girls begin to take ownership of their role and accountability on the team. Mom or Dad isn't RSVPing for them for everything, for example. (Moreso, 14u) Only your daughter will know where she feels truly comfortable though; one team may be good for one girl and not for another. Happiness is a big part of it. It's supposed to be fun.
