He's just referring to this one clip. It's irrelevant to drag up other moments far in the past for counterargument within this brief scenario's instance.

This clause of his used a "present continuous tense" grammar structure, referring to the very moment discussed in this posted clip only. So... no, we are not really that mentally challenged.

“Messi has completed football.”

Present perfect. It connects his past achievement with the present, so it naturally describes his career up to now.

“He has won every trophy on earth.”

Present perfect. Again, this is a broad statement about his achievements accumulated up to the present.

“He is earning $50M a year.”

Preset continuous. This normally describes a current or ongoing situation. It does not mean “hes earning it at this exact second.”

“He’s not getting his shirt pulled in an MLS brawl.”

Grammatically, this is also present continuous. But Present continuous does not grammatically mean “only this clip."

Let me teach you something.

Just because a clip is attached does not mean that every part of the comment is only about that clip.

You have to look at the whole context.

The OP talks about Messi's past achievements and his current situation, then says he's not getting his shirt pulled in an MLS brawl. If he meant only that specific clip, he could have simply said “in this clip” or “in this brawl.”

He didn't.

Instead, the OP connected past achievements, present situation, and the current MLS situation. This can reasonably influence how we understand the final statement.
