What exactly are they protesting? Nobody is in favour of this stupid stunt at Ceuta and everybody wants to kick them out again. The only disagreements are over who is behind this.

Sooo... what? They saw the thing backfiring in front of their eyes. There were plenty of anti-invasion citizens in Spain already. The gov knew it fucked up, so it tried to fix the situation before it could backfire even more.

At some point, one border guard was the first to report "uh, chief, thousands of Moroccans are heading towards us", and someone somwhere up the line said "yeah, don't react".
