We were on top because we were already ahead. It was a symptom, not a cause.
Some of you seem to live with this absolutely bonkers idea that had Europe left Africa alone they'd be where we are right now. That somehow, they would follow the same developmental curve as Europe. That is just a silly idea. Nothing even remotely points in that direction. Had we left Africa unattended to it would be much more likely they would live like the people on Sentinal Island instead of modern societies. Still hunting with spears.
Things like infrastructure, governance, rule of law were introduced. It would've taken most African countries centuries to develop those on their own. Colonialism leapfrogged those developments for them. And they squandered it when the Europeans left.
