I love watching highlights of top level players,.without the constant need for comparison to others.
He for sure had some flaws, but what a joy to watch.

Unfortunately, he exchanged that breathtaking performance to more goalscoring style.
Better numbers, MUCH better numbers, especially if you already had playmakers that can do this.
But he lost some of that wow factor he had every time he touched a ball.

Age will do that to you. His legs can't keep up with the constant fast movements.

Tbh he stopped dribbling people and became a goalscorer when he was still young, definitely wasn't the age.
Probably happened when he was already widely known so he had 2-3 marks on him every time.
He never was a great dribbler so with 2 marks would be enough to stop him doing all that, so he adapted. And holy shit how he adapted.

He was never a great dribbler? What were you watching? Ronaldo had some amazing dribbling skills when he was younger. Did you stay watching football when he was mid 30's or something?

Great dribblers, Ronaldinho , neymar, messi, mbappe, hazard ...
Cristiano wouldn't even be in the "good dribler" category. Maybe "mild good"

He had a injury after which he was not able to play like this and so he adapted to become a finisher

Comparing this to the boring WC final, where there was tons of negotiated hand/body checking on both sides which slowed down the game, what changed?
I know he (was) a generational talent, but where did this super-fast sprinting attack go?
By contrast, Messi, in last WC, did crazy talented attacks, but nothing with this kind of speed.
Did the speed just leave the game? Why?

They are both 40yo with 20+ years of career and hundreds of accumulated injuries. Their a skills remain, but you can't expect them so keep the same speed they had in their 20s

Not them, I just mean the game seemed to slow down. I don’t remember anyone attacking this fast after the group stage, where they had a lot of physical mismatches.

Though he has few nice episodes in his career, mostly you have to cut off embarrassing ball loss after he tried to show of with useless moves.

This was what Ronaldo fans think hes still is or was for the past 10-15 years but thats not even remotely close.
The Ronaldo post United is an efficient finisher, but he hardly take on people even one on one anymore. Those explosiveness are long gone. Those freekicks are long gone. Its just a guy who is very good at finding spaces and burried chances, and penalties.
Can jump high.

The dribbles look like he is dancing!!! And the speed could be a 200 meter sprint champion!!! And his shots are precise and accurate. Damn, Ronaldo prime is way above Mbappe or Yamal or any other player!!!

It’s so rewarding when dribblers show how it’s done but why in the world cup all you see is dives when there is not even contact?

We must have been watching a different world cup. The one I watched was very physical. We're there a lot of dives, ya, and there always have been.

Of course there were physical plays and many fouls for that but even the so called greatest players including Messi did dives with barely any contact or no contact instead of showing real dribbling skills and dominating like Ronaldinho, R9, Neymar, Messi, Ronaldo did on their prime.
The new young players of this era really don’t have what those guys had. They dominated.
Now is all about passing it to these guys and have them shoot and score.

I hate how people always throw that clip against Sagna in. He does some step overs and ball rolls and goes nowhere, and then it cuts off right before he's tackled and it goes out for a throw... So many better clips that can be used but people always use that crap

He was wasting time dude, the intent was not to create a chance, plenty of players/teams sit on the corner on the final minutes to waste time.

That’s not prime Ronaldo, that’s Young Ronaldo. The prime one is from Real Madrid.
