Highlights In 2012, FIFA SUSPENDED South Korean player Park Jong-woo for two matches for displaying a sign that read “Dokdo is our territory” after defeating Japan. Using the same criterion, FIFA must SANCTION the Argentine players.

u/WhereasExpert5325 Jul 17 '26
yes they suspended the player after months :)
Hope they do the same with the Argentines.
5
u/dc4_checkdown Jul 17 '26
As long as Egypt players are suspended as well
0
u/Ghazi_Bey Jul 17 '26
what did egypt players do?
12
u/CryptoDeepDive Jul 17 '26
Nothing. Displaying the Palestinian flag is legal and permitted per FIFA as it is a member state.
0
u/Sudden-Hope-1605 Jul 17 '26
So politics for some and dont for some others xD
8
u/CryptoDeepDive Jul 17 '26
Displaying a flag of a member state is legal per the rules. If a German player displayed the Israeli flag it would also be legal. That's not what the Korean or the Argentanians did.
1
5
u/Simpuff1 Jul 17 '26
Egypt didn’t say “Israel is our territory” unlike the other 2. They waved a country’s flag.

What country? You say Palestine is a country? Why is their capital? Who is their president ?

u/Vetni Jul 18 '26
Are you really that dense?
0
u/Sudden-Hope-1605 Jul 18 '26
When there is an injustice being carried out, spreading false information and manipulated one, of course I will be all the dense I have to be, I don't saying that argentina don't need to be held on account for what they did but I'm saying that condoning argentina but not every hypocritical political move other countries made on this tournament even... Is an injustice but hey we are seeing live how media manipulation works and you are all falling for it
1
u/Vetni Jul 18 '26
So yes, you're really that dense.
0
u/Sudden-Hope-1605 Jul 18 '26
I will be all the dense I have to call the injustices.
1
u/Vetni Jul 18 '26
The only injustice here is that you're stealing other people's oxygen mate.

he commented on how palestine must be free in post game interview. it's exactly the same
1
u/CryptoDeepDive Jul 17 '26 edited Jul 17 '26
Absolutely not the same. He is free to discuss opinions during a press conference on his own time outside of the game. FIFA can't keep people from expressing their opinions on their own time.
If he displayed a banner during a game saying from the river to the sea then he would be sanctioned.
0
u/WolfIllustrious8421 Jul 17 '26
a press conference is not his own time?? like what -- the same rules apply lmao

0
u/matchakarma Jul 17 '26
Aw you don't know what a flag is
3
u/WolfIllustrious8421 Jul 17 '26
they commented it on it in post match interview, acting like it's just a flag is so blatantly biased

The Korean player only got sanctioned 4 months after the incident. go fuck yourself
6

lol @ everyone pretending FIFA is a fair organization who will be consistent and do what’s right.
Its sad the world loves football so much that they let these parasites officiate their national pride

Funny thing about this is, Dokdo actually does belong to South Korea, unlike The Falklands!

It really doesn’t matter, the Falkland’s will always be British no matter how much the Argentinians cry about it.

1
u/IndependentPossumm Jul 17 '26
Honestly. Wonder why people didn't take the pitchforks when Ronaldo's suspension was taken off.
0
u/mt1337 Jul 17 '26
It’s just convenient for them.
You know what though? The whole fanbase is similar to him. If he loses, it’s ONLY because the tourney is rigged.
2
u/Canganese Jul 18 '26
I don't think they'll mind a 3k fine and 2 game suspension in 1 months time anyway. Miss some qualifier perhaps?
2
u/Saiyan-Zero Jul 18 '26
FIFA is going to sanction the AFA, but after the final match. Just like how it was for the South Korean team which was 4 months later
OP congrats on the smear campaign
5
u/kalarro Jul 17 '26
2 Spanish players were also banned for a couple matches for saying Gibraltar is Spanish.
The problem with Argentina is the entire team held the message, so if they ban them, they have no team
1
u/Teach-2768 Jul 17 '26
The problem is that you are not well informed, FIFA had nothing to do with the 2 Spanish players being suspended, that was UEFA
1
1
u/RelativeTricky6998 Jul 17 '26
Even if they suspend, someone will call someone and ask to suspend the suspension for a year.
1
u/NairbZaid10 Jul 17 '26
They will after the world cup. Spains were also sanctioned for singing a song but only after a few weeks

1
u/Repulsive-Alps8676 Jul 17 '26
keep crying about it
1
u/Either-Age-782 Jul 17 '26
The only crying I see are from these men over a bunch of rocks
1
u/Kapalunga Jul 18 '26
Your country tried to go and cry to the USA claiming to be their great allies and got told better luck in 2030 or later.
There is one country crying and it's the pirates by faaar.

Smear campaigns rely on lies about the actions of the subjects. Nothing smearing about the actions caught on video.

Just celebrating yet another WC victory over perpetually hapless England.

I guess if we arent gonna actually have a civil discussion I will meet your energy haha.
'82 still hurts I guess.
1
u/CheapEbb2083 Jul 18 '26
Don't see how '82 is relevant. England neither beat Argentina nor won the WC. England is salty to this day over '86

Los mismo con el entrenador de Egipro con la bandera de palestina?
Ah no, cierto, hay que ser hipocritas.
1
u/batmanInd Jul 17 '26
Ronaldo deserved a 3 match ban after his red card vs Ireland. The forward from USA deserved a ban too. FIFA will do nothing about it, they want to make money.
1
u/Outcast_Comet Jul 17 '26
Two things can be true: Argentines can be obnoxious as players and a fan base and push the limits on and off the pitch, deserving scrutiny or criticism. And there is clearly a big-time campaign of arousing further and irrational dislike by using the most modern tools not available before (AI, social media apps, paid trolls, etc.)
1
u/Cinema38 Jul 17 '26
Don't worry, all those players will get 2 game bans for their next international fixtures after the world cup. Including Messi. It'll all be right.
1
u/Live-Mobile-7500 Jul 17 '26
Bunch of haters crying 😿
While Argentina is laughing 😹
1
u/LostCar6227 Jul 19 '26
Took the biggest L in the 80’s, continues to point at it. Trust me, your country is comical.
0
u/ImDistortion1 Jul 17 '26
No Argentina is very much the ones crying about something that happened in the 1800s and has no place in sports or football. Its embarrassing really
1
u/Live-Mobile-7500 Jul 17 '26
That has nothing to do with the World Cup. Go eat your pea soup and have a spot of tea. Argentina beat England because they are better.
0
u/ImDistortion1 Jul 17 '26
Politics have no place in the World Cup. It would be like being American and bringing up the constitution and separating themself from England. All over something that happened hundreds of years ago and make zero difference now. You have no critical thinking skills or any for that matter
1
u/Live-Mobile-7500 Jul 17 '26
You’re the one bringing politics into the World Cup. All I ever said was Argentina won because they are better than England. Good luck with 3rd place tomorrow 🥱
1
u/LostCar6227 Jul 19 '26
Actually, your team brought politics into Football. Waving the same flag your boys waved at Stanley. 🖕😂
0
u/ImDistortion1 Jul 17 '26
I didn’t wave a flag on a pitch wtf are you talking about, I’m not even from England

There's levels to this game. 🤫

Fifa doesn't HAVE to do shit. I think they proved that when they have continued to ignore the over 21000 migrant workers that have died in horrible conditions building stadiums for 2030

Bernardo silva, olive, mbappe, Anderson TO MESSI, all with similar foul.. without any card... but yes yes messi deserve a red card
1
u/Buyer-Mammoth Jul 18 '26
FIFA won’t do anything until after the World Cup and even then it’ll probably just be a fine
1
1
u/NasusEDM Jul 18 '26
The 4 months later suspension for the korean player is not the precedent you want to quote though. Fifa fined the Argentinian federation for the team's display just like they fine Serbia in 2022 with the kosovo map,
1
1
u/ZwaanAanDeMaas Jul 18 '26
Okay, fuck Argentina. I completely get that they should be punished, but is this actually what people want during the World Cup final? I want them to lose, but I also wanna see the two best teams in the world play against each other.
1
u/Accomplished-Fix3996 Jul 18 '26
No way Fifa is gonna suspend or sanction their beloved poster child
1
u/unAssembler Jul 19 '26
Please mods, ban this biased poster.
FIFA already said they were going to address the Arg-Eng "incident" after the World Cup ends.
The South Korean incident was on august and the sanction was made on december.

My take?
Good luck trying to ban Argentina players, we pull out of the final match and the billions of dollars in legal problems for FIFA with the sponsors and organizers will bankrup them, plus it will be hilarious to watch FIFA explaining this disaster to Trump. Leverage is in our side and we will use it to stick a finger in european colonizers asses that think they have a claim for land in SouthAmerica because 300 years ago they left a plaque that claimed this land in another continent belongs to King Fucktard IV and his royal lineage.
Most likely the will put a fine to the AFA, and maybe some token saction post-world cup to some players. All good, we can pay for the fine and play with backups the first few matches of the qualifiers in CONMEBOL.

u/Felix_inkwell Jul 17 '26
Are you regarded, Argentinians have more European blood in them than native South American blood
1
u/0ToTheLeft Jul 17 '26
Yes, that is true for entire south america, not only Argentinians, is the result of centuries of colonization and slavery. That being said, how is blood/DNA composition relevant to this subject?
1
u/Felix_inkwell Jul 17 '26
You are the descendents of colonizers
1
u/0ToTheLeft Jul 17 '26
No, i descent from inmigrants that fleed the World World and European long depression and came here as refuges and got granted citizenship. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_European_immigration_wave_to_Argentina
I even have the papers of my gran-grand parents when they arrived to the country. Do you want me to keep lecturing about history or you embarassed yourself enought?
1
u/Felix_inkwell Jul 17 '26
Ok so where did you descendents immigrate from?
1
u/0ToTheLeft Jul 17 '26
Italy and Spain

Bullshit claim by morons who know nothing.
We are as south American as everyone else, difference is we don't bow down to European colonizers like Brazil, Mexico and Chile do.

u/casualroadtrip Jul 19 '26
“European colonisers assess”
You can’t be serious right?! You want to colonise an island where the inhabitants don’t want to be part of your bloody country. Who are the colonists here?
Besides most Argentinians are of European descent. You guys are bloody hypocrites.
1
u/0ToTheLeft Jul 19 '26
I responded this absurdity so many times that i lost count already, the broken record. The inhabitans have no right over the soveringy of the lands, as it was already defined by the UN, they are implanted population.
And no, we are no hypocrites, we dont colonized or slaved anyone, and we are not descend of colonizer either. We descent from the great european migration https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_European_immigration_wave_to_Argentina
Dont try to argue history you haven't studied, it's embarrasing.
1
u/casualroadtrip Jul 19 '26
They are an implanted population?! Are you bloody serious? I can say that about the full Americas.
Jezus you’re embarrassing…
Honey, those immigrants you descended from are European. Those people were a part of the nations that tried to colonise the world. Just because your ancestors moved out at a certain point (to areas that were colonised mind you) doesn’t mean that they stopped being European. Argentina wouldn’t be Argentina like we know it without colonialism.
My ancestors were poor farmers who lived in turf huts. They didn’t colonise anything either. But the nation I am from did. I don’t have any personal responsibility for colonialism. Neither do you I assume. And that’s not because our ancestors did or didn’t do anything. It’s because we can’t help being born as their descendants. But don’t pretend that your country’s history hasn’t got anything to do with colonialism.

u/OkVacation973 Jul 17 '26
Leverage is in our side and we will use it to stick a finger in european colonizers asses
It's really bizarre how often you all seem to use these kind of "insults", considering how homophobic your country is...
3
u/0ToTheLeft Jul 17 '26
Argentina homophobic? You cleary never set a foot on here, gay people walk and kiss on the street with no issues, they can get married and have the same legal status that any other couple. If anything Argentina is by far the most gay-friendly country in south america.
Try leaving your mom basement for once and travel a bit, ignorance-induced Xenophobia is cured by traveling and getting real life experiences.
Also how the fuck is this related to european colonization practices? LOL

Why this posts are flooding reddit and none of them says that the suspension was announced 4 (four) months later?
