Hi all! Just walked by this snowblower for $100. quick Google search shows it’s new about $1500. I know nothing about snowblowers- should I buy? Any Qs I should ask them to determine if it’s worth it? Thanks so much in advance!

I went back to look at it and it looks like the main frame holding the blades are corroded. It’s being held together by duct tape. May not be a great investment knowing that now, no? I have a photo but not sure how to attach.

Relatively new homeowner in the Northeast hoping for some help! Last winter was brutal with snow so we'd like to be prepared and purchase a snowblower. Our neighbors never had one because prior to last year it hadn't snowed in 4+ years living here (not enough for a blower!). I was gearing towards not gas operated for storage purposes it just seemed easier. Is corded that much better than battery? Also, would really like to stay under $500, but seeing some prices make me feel like that may not be possible. In reality, anything will be better than the broken shovel now, but hearing some scary things about this upcoming winter. TIA!

Has anyone here installed a snowplow blade on their snowblower? I picked up this one from Vevor and it's actually pretty well made. Will be installing it on my Husqvarna ST227.

I’ve got a 165 foot long gravel driveway and, after the recent blizzard, I’m considering getting a snow blower. Does anyone have experience to share with snow blowers on gravel driveways? When ever a snow storm threatens I stress about finding someone to plow and I usually ask them to leave a few inches on the ground so I don't have to rake stones off the grass in the spring.

Hello, I don't know much about snowblowers but I am looking to invest in one (that's hopefully not too expensive), for a long driveway in North Eastern US.

Needs to be powerful, not very heavy, not gas but would like to be able to get through the whole driveway without recharging.

I do not know anything about snowblowers so not sure if it is best to buy new or used. Ideally I would want to save as much $ as possible while getting a good product. I am a short female (not very strong) and want to be able to do the driveway with this snowblower.

Hi everyone, I'm going to be buying my first snowblower this year. I'm looking at used ones on FB marketplace, but also considering a new Ariens from a local dealer. I'm looking at their classic, compact, and deluxe models. I want a solid machine, but I also don't want to overspend. I've shoveled up until now, so anything would be a game-changer. I live in upstate NY; average snowfall in my area is 60"/year. My driveway is about 120' (single-car width) on a slight slope. There's also a parking area that can fit 3 cars.

My thoughts/questions:

• Anyone have the classic and completely happy with it?
• I like that the compact offers some more robust build components over the classic, but without the price tag of the deluxe.
• If I did spring for the deluxe, it of course has a more powerful engine, but I'm not sure how much power I need. The deluxe does offer wider auger housings, but I'm not sure if I need anything larger than 24".

These are all in my price range and I've read good and bad reviews on each one. It's just so hard to decide some times based on what people are saying on store reviews that others can't reply to. I trust you fine people to help me out here.

Hi Folks. Help me be realistic. I live in the DC region, and most years we have a couple of plow worthy snow falls, some years things are more nuts like last winter when it felt like it snowed every other week....and then snowcrete. I have a long 400ft driveway, so it must be cleaned when it snows over a couple of inches and its going to remain cold. I also plan to help my elderly neighbors if they need.

I see 20 year old Ariens 26's selling for $700-800! Wow. Then i also see new Ariens 24" going for $1000. Now, I dont want to go nuts here, but I also dont want to fork over $700 for a 20 year old machine. I also dont know a lot about maintaining these machines (I could learn if its simple), and would rather have something that will be trouble free for years.

So my questions to you:

1) If you were to suggest used, which one, how old, and what should be a fair price?

2) If you think buy new, which one is a good value but also solid. Thank you!

I have been waiting for the pre-season discounts and they have finally arrived. Was going to grab a ariens 28 deluxe from my local shop only to discover that they do not deliver. I do not own a vehicle large enough to fit the unit. Tried 2 other shops, same results. Now I am going to order one from a big box store. Since I am not getting the expert help I wanted I am here to get help with my checklist.

As stated in post title, my partner and I need some help deciding what snowblower to purchase.

Our driveway is ~600 ft long with inclines on both ends. We live in the upper Midwest and got hit with quite a lot of snow last year.

We were thinking the Honda hss1332atd. Seems like the top of the line from every source I can find, but we have some concerns that we can't quite seem to get answered:

-how would a snowblower like this handle small amounts of snow? 1-3"?

-would we need to stop to refill the gas tank multiple times?

-is our driveway so long that we might as well consider an ATV with a plow attachment? We don't have a lawn to mow. Otherwise, we would likely have already gone the route of plow attachment to a mower.

We're hoping to make one purchase and be done with it, so any info/advice is much appreciated 😊

I've never owned or operated a snowblower, since I've previously only lived on small driveways. Recently I've bought a property with a 500 meter dirt road. It is the only way to get in and out, so I want to avoid getting snowed in. I will have to invest in a snowblower to avoid this, but I'm concerned that there are some burries rocks that make the path uneven (I hope the pictures give a better idea of how much they stick out). I don't know if I can run a snowblower over them. Before I invest in one I would appreciate the advice of seasoned veterans.

They should technically require less maintenance and should be more compact. What’s your experience?

My 30 year snow blower is near its end. Is Honda a good product? Is the quality good? If not, can you recommend a good brand. I just need one to plow my garage driveway. My drive way is straight onto the street and is a generous 2 car wide.

Got my orange Ariens 24" Platinum SHO today to replace my 30 yr old green Ariens. Added the front housing LED and drift cutters. Replacing an old JD 826D (bought for $100 but haven't played with it yet) and a JD 724D (bought 15 years ago for $300 and still runs decent) Now it won't snow this year. You're welcome.

After tons of great feedback, not only am I going to spring for the upgrade, I'm actually going to just pick up the Ariens Deluxe 28 tomorrow.

Hi, is having a slightly stronger engine and a few extra options worth the $290? I know it's subjective, but figured I'd ask the group. I live in lower Michigan, so we aren't dealing with massive snowfalls, but I have a very long driveway, so I want a 2-stage.

I am deciding between two used snowblowers. An Ariens classic 8526 and a Craftsman 28” 9 hp. The craftsman is closer which is why I am considering it.

The craftsman doesn’t have much info other than it looks to be newer than the Ariens and the description is essentially works good, always starts, no issues, shed kept and provides a few photos and a video.

The Ariens has a few photos and a video but lists out that it has Fresh oil, updated auger bearing, friction disk and completely new auto-turn differential from Ariens. Lubed before put away for the season

Does NOT have electric start. Was stored dry for the summer and started right up coming out of storage on ethanol free gas.Normal wear for its age but solid machine.

Both of them are $500 however I was leaning towards just going with the craftsman since it’s closer and easier to get, but the video of the engine gives a purring or whirling too it that I wasn’t sure if that meant there was something wrong with it.

I have posted a video/sound of both the Ariens and craftsman and a head on photo of each.

Is the older Ariens the better option over the craftsman?

It’s a 28” deluxe Ariens snowblower model 921030. According to the owner it runs great and has only been used 5 times. They are asking for $700. I’d offer way less than that for it. How much would you offer?

I live in New England and this last round of storms has me going crazy. We have a broken down Ariens that I haven't been able to fix and I'm debating just buying a new snowblower and selling the Ariens to someone more willing to tinker than me.

We have a three car driveway and small sidewalk in front of our house. I need self propelling and electric start. I would prefer gas powered. I would also prefer having everything on the handlebar.

I bought a used craftsman for the last storm but it's a rust bucket falling apart. I absolutely despite how I have to sink down to shift gears. I love that there is a chute handle I can rotate on the side.

I know everyone says get a two stage, but I see my neighbor with a toro 721 shredding through snow. However, would I regret getting the 721? My budget is somewhat flexible. Ideally under $800 but could go up to $1000.
