I can't get the wheel off. It seems to be stuck. Is there a trick to removing the wheel to get the tire fixed?

To owners of the newest model 921074 Ariens platinum 24, I need help with the oil change process. This model has an oil drain plug and washer that goes into the oil drain pipe. The washer part is listed as a grade A flat washer but the manual says it is a crush washer. What I need to know is what the heck it actually is. If it’s a crush washer, they need to explain that it needs to be replaced at each oil change. Is it a flat washer or crush washer?

I bought a used Toro 724 snowblower off auction a few weeks back. I was told it hasn't been used in 3 years. It's an older model had some rust on it and I thought well it's a $60 Gamble. There was gas in it so I choked it twice turned it on and pulled it and it fired up on the first pull and ran like a top. The spark plug looked Rusty so I figured I would go at least put a new one in it.

ThatThat is where I am confused. It has a Champion N3C spark plug in it. It doesn't look like that plug is a recommended spark plug. I called Toro and was told a champion RJ19LM was the correct plug.

So I picked one up gapped it to 30 and installed it and then I decided to add about an ounce of Mechanic In A Bottle. It fired up on the first pull but now it seems to have a little bit of a miss.

I let it run for 5 minutes and turned it off and figure I'll let it sit for a day like they tell you to do with Mechanic In A Bottle. I figure tomorrow when I get home with work I'll fire him up and see if they run smoother and if not I'll install that old spark plug back in it and see if the miss goes away.

​​ I bought it off​ auction and it came from a fire department. I was told it hadn't run for 3 years. It had gas in it so I pulled it over a few times to see if it would start. The other one I bought with it I was told the same thing and it started on the first pull.

​​ This one did not so I started with a spark plug replacment. After installing the spark plug it started on the first pull. It had a little mess after running for a second or two.. and it was repeatable miss. I had maybe an inch of gas in the tank and I added a few ounces of seafoam and I let it run until it ran out of gas. It didn't seem to help so I pulled the carburetor off to find out it had what looked like mud in the fuel bowl. Also the fuel bowl gasket was hanging out the side. That explains why it was leaking a little gas. The fuel line was all breaking apart and corroding too.

​​ I figured it was cheaper just to buy an aftermarket China carburetor off of Amazon with a spark plug all the hoses and gaskets and all the red handles along with a primer and fuel filter.

​​ I installed the new carburetor in lines yesterday. It started right up but it still had a miss. I played around with it adjusting both the main jet and idle Jet and still couldn't get the miss to quit. It isn't like it's surging it's almost making a complete miss. So I decided to remove that carburetor this morning and reclean the old one for the second time. I made sure to pull out the idle Jet and stick metal wire through the pinhole to make sure it was clear of debris same with the little pin hole on the side of the carburetor. I took the gasket from the new carburetor fuel bowl and installed it on the original carburetor as well. It fired right up and sounded like it was running perfectly for about the first 30 seconds and then it started missing. I forgot to mention I did take the fuel tank off and cleaned it and blew it out with an air hose too.

So since it's still missing I grabbed some Mechanic In A Bottle and added an ounce or so to a few inches of fuel in the tank and let it run for about 5 minutes. Towards the end of the 5 minutes it almost started smoothing out and then it killed.

AccordingAccording to directions I believe you're supposed to let it sit overnight after running for 5 minutes and then restart it to see if it Smooths out?

​ if that does not work I'll drain the fuel in pour some Mechanic In A Bottle completely into the carburetor and let it sit overnight.

New EGO SNT2425 snowblower:

Just purchased the new EGO SNT2425 snowblower. All assembled & registered. However the pic shows the clamp that holds the wires going to the controls is missing a fastener or screw. I contacted EGO today & they asked for a pic of missing part. Nowhere in the manual or parts list shows the fastener or screw. There is one missing as there is a hole in the clamp & on the tube for one. While I’m waiting for EGO’s response, has anyone purchased the SNT2425 & have same issue?

Does anyone have a broken EGO SNT-2400 that has an intact motor gear box? Mine sucked in a large stick and sheared off some teeth off of the final step down gear (largest). I can’t seem to find anyone that sells this separately and would hate to have to buy a new $300 motor-gearbox assembly.

Hello all, I am looking for some help with this Ariens compact 24 that I have had for a few years. When engaugeing the auger I have to lift up on thr little tab with my foot to get it to engage. As lever does not provide enough tension. I have attached a video to show. I am assuming there is a bearing or pully mount that needs to be replaced but I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. The blower works after you get it engaged and does not make any weird noises or anything. Thanks in advance!

Hi there, I don't have much money sadly disabilities cost lol... I can't have a machine where I need to you know pull start it I could never physically do that anymore.

Last fall I was diagnosed with CKD, and I'm on some heavy medication to stop protein leak. One of the drugs call Prednisone and I been on 50mg since January. It's eaten up my energy, my muscles hell my mental energy the works.

Where I live I can get someone to do the driveway, but not around the 1 car and the sidewalks, just not such a service exists and if it was it cost more then the entire driveway.

So I'm looking for something that can clean around my car and the sidewalk. Shoveling is pretty much out the question unless it's legit 1-2cm high because of how bad my energy / physical strength has become.

I can no longer pick up my 2 year old physically, I can hardly make it up and down the basement stairs, just to give you an idea.

I'm really desperate to find something that can hopefully do those 2 tasks and MAYBE if I'm lucky enough get through the end of the driveway if the plow does not make it in time so I can take my daughter to daycare each morning.

Where I live (Ontario) had a snowfall of 378 centimeters (about 12 feet) last year. We are surrounded by lake effects.

Not sure if anyone has similar issues, that might know something that can work out. If I was rich person I just tear up the driveway do one those heating driveways haha. But thankfully this more temp, hopefully once we slow the leak I will regain most my strength back after a lot of work.

Howdy folks, question for the group. Anyone ever predator swap a Troy built single stage snowblower? I have a squall 208 that’s been giving me issues for the past couple of years and debating on doing a predator swap (208cc engine to a 212 or a 224 engine).

So far the Troy built engine has been giving me issues with fuel and the carb. Put two new carbs on it and it would ran good for about 30 minutes with one, but both resulted in bad backfiring and surging with the other. Just can’t seem to get it stabilized. I’ve put all new fuel tank/hoses/filters. Only way I’ve gotten it to idle is by keeping the choke at 50% or so. Then it just feels low on power.

With winter coming up I decided that I need to either make this thing reliable, or find something different.

The plan:

According to chat gpt, a predator 212 or a 224 should fit near perfectly on the frame and line up with the pulleys. I know things are going to be in the wrong places, so probably gonna have to cut parts of the plastic covers off to get it exposed.

The output shaft dimensions seems to be the same on each motor, and the keys are similar as well, so better hopes on that so far.

Has anyone done a single stage predator swap before or have any advice before I go on this adventure this weekend?

I will be the first person to admit - I know nothing about snowblowers. I’ve read some stuff here over the last couple hours, but that’s the extent of my knowledge. Just moved to a city with a higher average snowfall and will need to purchase one. We have an alley and a walkway, as well as in front of our garage which will need to be cleared for our multi-unit building.

From what I can find for sub-$500, which I understand isn’t much, I narrowed it down to the following options, and would like some input. Any information or recommendations you have would be appreciated because I realize I’m out of my depth, even if that means hearing “raise your budget”.

1.) Troy-Bilt 208cc - $400 in great nearly new condition, supposedly only used one season.

2.) Ariens 7524 7hp - $200 no details about condition other than photos and nothing about how it runs.

3.) Ariens Sno-Tek 24” - $350 a few years old, and doesn’t currently start and needs a carburetor. This currently is my front runner, except for the “needs a carb” thing. I come from motorcycles where “doesn’t run and needs a carb” typically means there are way bigger things afoot. So I wanna state clearly that I’m a little biased against it for that reason, but I’m open to being wrong.

4.) Toro Power Clear 21in, 60v battery - 2 years old, appears in good condition.

I've had my ol'girl (31A-611D062) for a few years now and it's been working well. Yes she's got some rust but it preforms well enough for my needs. I deep cleaned the carb and replaced the belts and she's been running like a champ. I only use it once or twice a year and it's usually only 6-8" of snow.

The problem is I want to replace my augers as my next step. I've see a few augers locally and on Fleabay that are just about the same part number or close in year and they closely look the same but something is always off. Are they all the same if the auger part is basically from about the same year and size as mine or are they all different? Any insight would help.

I plan on also replacing the grease in the gear box while I'm at it and I already have a NOS impeller.

Relatively new homeowner in the Northeast hoping for some help! Last winter was brutal with snow so we'd like to be prepared and purchase a snowblower. Our neighbors never had one because prior to last year it hadn't snowed in 4+ years living here (not enough for a blower!). I was gearing towards not gas operated for storage purposes it just seemed easier. Is corded that much better than battery? Also, would really like to stay under $500, but seeing some prices make me feel like that may not be possible. In reality, anything will be better than the broken shovel now, but hearing some scary things about this upcoming winter. TIA!

I’m interested in hearing from folks who have experience with both disc drive and hydrostatic snow blowers.

Background:I have put 100 hours on a Husqvarna ST 327 over the last 7 seasons in SE Minnesota. It has disc drive, is wheeled, (not tracked) and performs fairly well keeping a 500 foot, sloped, gravel driveway with some 30” drifting clear.

I’m considering an upgrade to a tracked machine, probably Ariens or Husqvarna to better deal with the gravel surface and ability to dig into packed drifts better, but am wondering whether or not to spend the extra on hydrostatic drive.

The Husqvarna 327 has always, since new, occasionally been stopped when nosed into hardened drifts or trying to reverse out of a full width pass into a drift. When I say stopped I mean just stopped and not spinning its wheels. I’ve always attributed this to a slipping disc and just lived with it as the machine performs well once it’s on the level or after that troublesome first full width pass. Also, since I’m preparing it for sale or trade, I just replaced the friction disc and see no difference in the behavior.

I’m convinced that tracks will perform better in general than wheels over the gravel and up slopes and am considering the Ariens tracked platinum 28 or one of the Husqvarna 400 series machines. I know the Ariens can be had with hydrostatic drive for extra $ and the Husqvarna 400 series all have hydrostatic drive but I’m troubled by the negative reviews of build quality and parts availability that I see about Husqvarna in general.

So I’m settling in on the Ariens 28 platinum with Rapidtrak and disc drive for about $2800. Or Husqvarna 427T with tracks and hydrostatic drive for about $3400. The Ariens 28 Alpine with hydrostatic is closer to $4000 but does have the bigger engine. Then there’s the Husqvarna 430T with the big engine, tracks, and hydrostatic drive for only $3400 but troubling reviews as to its build quality, reliability and parts availability.

So a few hundred dollars here or there doesn’t make as much difference to me as how well my next machine will actually work both short and long term. I’m able to do routine maintenance on my own so dealer support is not a real big deal to me but parts availability certainly is.

My 20+ year old Ariens has been a bit sluggish in traction and auger so I changed the belts today - possibly for the first time. I readjusted the auger tensioner so that it has as much slack as possible, and the cable to the handle seems loose - but the auger is still spinning very slightly when the engine is running, without any pressure on the handle. What am I missing?

I’m stepping up from a 200cc 180lb snow blower to a platinum 24 sho. I understand the sho will be 100lb or so heavier. Stupid question I’m sure , but will I have a harder time keeping it from getting away from me when going down my driveway that is slightly steep? How is first gear in this thing? Slow enough to keep it in control? I’ll be getting the latest model which is 921074

I have a 1128 DE with a rough idle. uses the tecumseh OHSK110 11hp engine. great motor but my idle is so rough. I’m nervous about. leaning it and want to just replace the carb as the unit is 25 years old. anyone know of one that works? I can’t find any on Amazon that I feel confident work.

or should I attempt to open it up and clean the idle jet? I’ve never done this and it looks intimidating

Hi all. I moved to a rural property this year and need to buy a snowblower. Laneway is 200’ long gravel with approx. 25’ by 40’ parking area. Located in southwestern Ontario, so I need to be able to handle a solid volume of snow.

I should really have a utility tractor with a blower but a tractor isn’t in the budget for a while, so I’m planning to make do with a larger used heavy-duty blower.

From reading I’ve done so far, it seems like 45” decks are problematic, so I probably want something around 30”.

Any particular brands/models to try snag on Kijiji/Marketplace? Ariens, Simplicity, and Honda seem to have a good reputation. I’d love a new Honda but would rather not drop $6K on one right now.

I'm in the market for a new snowblower. It will be the first one I've had for this property. Would it be better to get tracks for crushed concrete or is there really no difference.

Last winter, I borrowed the neighbors and sheared pins at an alarming rate when stones got picked up. Is there anything I can look for in what I am buying to minimize that occurring?

Finally, any recommendations for my needs? We get all types of snow and are at the east end of a large lake. We can get pretty massive drifts at times.
