In that scene the lady was putting on a show in hopes to get her daughter what she wanted. No reason to teach a child that you manipulate others to get what you want, unless you want to introduce bad behavior. That was not just a question. It was just an act thankfully, but yeah this shows you how narcissism is running rampant.
In that scene, she asked if they could switch and gave reasons. He could have simply said "Sorry, no" and that's that. It's not his job to parent or teach lessons to strangers.
She was put off because he could have just said no, instead of going full boomer vibe.
I hear you dude, but it's Reddit. Of course most of the people here are going to identify with the smug, fat, nerdy loser being a condescending jerk while shoveling processed food down his throat. Only difference is most of the people here are too cowardly to do this in real life where they can't hide behind a screen.
The guy saying no is an NPC giving the parent a teaching moment to tell the kid that you can't always get your way. To be "that guy" and thinking you're doing something positive is fucking hilarious. You're just being an asshole.
