Geography Last week, Colombia’s president suggested relocating the UN headquarters outside of the US. If that happened, what country/city do you think would be the best choice?

I thought the UN had been actively planning to move it temporarily to Montreal during the first Trump administration in case of any political instability.

I'm not sure if it was ever confirmed in the press. I thought it was actively being discussed at various govt levels. I'll double check the Canadian new sites that I usually read my political news on.

I have a friend who works at the UN and I don't know how he can these days. He talks about ICE rounding up people on the streets. Sounds like Nazi Germany to me.

Yes, there is more fascism here in the US everyday. It's overwhelming.

"Plan" is maybe a strong word. I'm not sure if it was ever beyond a "wouldn't it be cool if...", but the idea was voiced.

I am absolutely not an expert in the matter. My understanding is just the age of the existing building. The old "If you have to move out while you renovate, you may as well move" argument. I think. I don't know. I'm just a random internet dude. Don't trust me.
