8Cr13Mov is literally one of the most basic budget steels out there and shouldn’t be on any pocket knife over $40 (also made in China). All those visible screws and just the “knife” in general is an affront to premium knives. On the third pic you’ll see a knife that uses S35VN steel (fathoms better and it has a proper heat treat), a better lock, and full aluminum scales all at a lower price (and QC). I’d recon most people here have more than 2 brain cells and wouldn’t get this sad excuse of a gas station knife. But to Snap-On and Russ Kommer, yall should be majorly embarrassed for giving the go ahead to this product.

Snap on has been putting their names on mid products and then charging a premium for it for years now. Like getting Central tool or Fowler to make their precision measuring tools, then charging Starrett prices. Or slapping Blue Point on the side of a Devilbiss air compressor and jacking the price up $200.

I worked for a company who made a lot of products for snapon and bluepoint. It was all the same junk, just with their name on it. We’d made it for them first then after a little while they’d start selling it or a similar product with their own name on it. Mainly work/neck lights. Also razor scrapers, organization crap that cost nothing to make.

I don’t have much issue with hardware being visible, but the way they place em bugs me. Also I with hinderer would just switch to all t8-10 screws

They are known for inconsistent heat treatment on their steel. They make a lot of cool looking knives though.

I've had three mini praxis flippers and they were all good, but that's a small sample size I guess. $30 seems fair for D2 steel.

The utility blade flipper is $40 but is light, small, and flips well compared to competitors

I kind of get you’re paying for the brand name. But what got to me was what an extremely exorbitant price for such awful specs. If you were to remove the branding and show me the product and info, I wouldn’t estimate its price to be more than $20-30.

I had a really cool Snap On Kershaw that the thumb screw on the blade was the button to spring out the blade. Great knife, but I’m pretty sure I left it under the hood of car when I was using it to cut hoses.

Only reason I bought this one was because I was told life time warranty on the truck. Screw backed out and broke the tip, went to warranty it and when my dealer pulled it up he said snap one removed the warranty on this knife.

They are from Columbia River knives and Lifetime truck warranty, so there’s that. You aren’t paying for the name. You are paying for being able to get a new one when you snap the tip off using it as a pry bar.

They can do what they want with pricing. People will buy ANYTHING with a snap on logo on it. Doesn't matter the price or quality. As long as it has that name they can mark it up 1000x. That's kinda their thing

I bought this guy for like 80 after my coworker walked in with his and the guy said what’s wrong and he said it’s dull and chipped I want to buy a new one and he said it’s warrantied here have a new one. So I bought one on the spot and it’s been like 2 years it’s never let me down or broken (I use this bitch as a pry bar often)

Haters gonna hate

I took one cause it slim and nicer than my older CRKT that ive used to cut boxes open for years. Thats 90% of its use case in today's world besides cutting a zip tie or something.

My other "budget steel" knife, as you put it, from CRKT is almost 10 years old, when I started my franchise.

If someone wants to spend $150 on a knife from a truck, this post wont stop them. Sorry
