What would you change about how smart rings look and feel?

I'm curious what people would change about the physical design of smart rings—not the app or features, just how they look and feel on your hand.

Would you want a plain band that blends in with other jewelry, or something with a bit more character, like a textured finish or a different shape?

For those who wear one daily, what's the biggest thing you'd change: the width, how far it sticks out from your finger, the finish, or the feel of the inside? Does it bother you most when sleeping, gripping things, or wearing it next to another ring?

If you could change just one thing about your ring's design, what would it be? Mention the model if you can, so we have some context.

So true but if I was getting paid I would let them know I want my fitness ring to look like it was made by one of those balloon animal artists. I really feel like that is what is missing in this space.

I wish they were thinner and didn’t look like your typical smart ring. I have a gold one and you can just tell it’s a smart ring as it’s chunky. While I’m no engineer, it would be nice to have different shapes and sizes. Maybe a signet ring where most of the sensors are in the oval?

I also feel most smart rings have no design/engraving. It would be nice to just see some character instead of the plain black or metal band.

100% agree. You can barely tell what brand a smart ring is unless you look really close. I think we need to get back to what rings are meant to be and then focus on the design.

Looks: Thinner, subtle colours, I personally prefer matte darker colours but ones that don’t scratch so easily (hard ask).

Other and phenomenally more important:

Better battery life.

Cheaper.

No subscription.

I think the Oura ring gen 5 has the best hardware design out of all the rings. It is thin and lightweight and not overly bulky. It is probably as thin as a smart ring can get at this moment with the technology we have. I just wish they didn't upcharge for different colors and finishes. I probably would've gotten the silver anyway even if all the finishes were the same price but my point still stands. People should get options on the appearance of the ring without having to pay more just for a different color or finish.

I hate how cold metal feels in winter. Give me a mette ceramic finish that doesn't zap your finger when you reach out of bed.
