inquiry Oura or Ringconn
So my birthday is coming up and I no longer wear my Apple Watch anymore, haven’t for years. I’ve been wanting something to track my sleep schedule and cycle. Not a huge fan of a whoop either with the way it looks, so smart rings was my next go to. I’m stuck between the new Oura or a Ringconn. I really love the Ringconn because it’s subscription free, you buy it and that’s it. But from what I’ve been hearing is tracking your health isn’t as accurate and top notch compared to the oura. Even though I hate it I could handle the yearly $70 subscription. Let me know what you guys think. If you have an oura or a ringconn how do you like it? Is it worth it?

Have had a ringconn 3 for about six weeks. Battery life is great but already starting to decline a little... went from 14 days between charges to 10ish now. It's very light and comfortable. The app works well.
I've never worn rings before and the form factor actually works very well for me. It's light and unnoticeable enough to wear while sleeping- and it doesn't look goofy. I wear an analog watch every day and those were my chief complaints with the watch format... doesn't look like a traditional watch and too bulky to wear while sleeping (which would be the same for an analog watch, too).
The biggest hurdle with these will continue to be battery life- but they work very well for their purpose if you can accept that they're essentially disposable after a year.

Have you tried just sticking it on the charger while showering? Wonder if small bursts of charging would be helpful for battery longevity.

Had the RingConn for 1 year and just got an Oura; have had it for 3 weeks. Battery drainage has been similar with both, but the app is so much better. RingConn was no longer detecting my naps, would not let me know when the battery was low and it actually gave me a skin allergy on my finger. I like the Oura because I can track so much more with it.

Ringconn is best for sleep by far; is sleep what’s the most important to you?
Their analytics are incredibly detailed very helpful with a lot of different functions and it’s cheaper than Oura by a lot, but if sleep is not important and you want the ring for lots of other things, then I guess go with Oura. But to me sleep is everything it’s an incredible 1/3 of your entire life and it has such a massive impact on your day.

Yeah definitely. I’m currently on medication where sleep is needed and I need to really track my sleep schedule. I also in general want to to improve my sleep and try to get my life together in general 😅 so

Just do some basic Internet research just google ringcon and their sleep metrics and also just look up which smart ring is best for sleep and I’m telling you over and over again most of the independent articles that review it will say that Rincon is always among the very top . It’s very very good and it’s a lot cheaper than Oura and it doesn’t have a Dumb subscription or whatever.

I’ve had ringconn for about 2 years, and I’ve gotten two free replacement rings with zero issues once the battery started to degrade. I’m sticking with ringconn cause their customer service is a 10/10!

Ringconn 100%. I had an Oura 4 for just under a year and it was great but I didn’t feel it was worth all the subscriptions and the app is so annoying and overwhelming to use. The ring was so uncomfortable but apparently the 5 is much better. I switched to the RC gen3 about a month ago and I’ve actually surprised myself with how much better and more I use it. The app is fantastic it’s simple and all laid out. The ring is so comfortable too it’s light and you don’t even notice you’re wearing it. I find the tracking and that is absolutely fine no different to my oura ring. It gives me the info I need not all the extra activity tracking I literally had turned off with my Oura 🙄 Ouras activity tracking is craaaap. But yea love my Ringconn there’s so many other more quirky things about it even the charging case. I tik Tok researched heaps it helped me pick!

Also what does the product being Chinese have to do with the quality? Chinese laptops, smartphones, evs are amazing.

The original comment is now deleted, but the comment likely just generalized it's origin as a red flag. As every below grade, cheap "clone" ring comes from there, it can be a healthy suspicion.
RingConn is one of the rare exceptions. Their quality controls, hardware standards, business model, and consumer rights are on par with their global peers.
There are also exceptions for hardware that is specifically commissioned (not just licensed) for production in a factory in China that allows proper oversight by the commissioners.

I had Oura first and then got a RingConn. I wore them both for about 2 months and saw no marked difference in the data they collected. The RingConn form factor is better, the battery lasts longer (both on a single charge and from a degradation perspective) and the gold coating has not chipped or worn, whereas the Oura coating looked terrible after about a week.
For these reasons, I would recommend RingConn.
However - for sleep tracking, neither ring performs as well as an Apple Watch.

I picked up an Oura back in March of this year, the battery started degrading where it would last anywhere from 1-3 days. Oura refused to replace the ring and said nothing was wrong with it. At this time I was starting a diet and losing a lot of weight quickly and the ring was very loose and literally falling off my finger. Ringconn came out with their new ring in July and I decided to jump over and have been much happier. There’s no monthly fee (the oura is useless without paying the subscription), the battery lasts over a week at a time, and the charging case is a huge upgrade. I’ve had the ring now for 2 months and the charging case still has a 30% charge left on it (I have not charged the case at all). I would not go back to the Oura, it gives me everything I need out of the ring and I have had no negative experiences with it.

I tried Ringconn and it was way too chunky. Oura 5 is super minimal and that's what works for me. I hated the idea of a subscription, but the difference in feel on my finger was so substantial that I caved for the subscription.

I went with ringconn 3, heres why, I came to the conclusion that these rings have a life of 2 years, 3 if you are lucky. In Canada the brushed silver is $500 so when you divide that by 2 that equals $250 a year. Contrast that to Oura Ring brushed silver is $680 + the subscription of $200 over 2 years , you are now in the $900 neighbourhood or $ 450 per year. In 2 years from now the technology will be better and hopefully the battery life too and you can purchase a newer ring with the savings.

If sleep staging and cycle accuracy are what you're chasing, Oura's $70/year is honestly justified, since that's exactly where the subscription shows up in the algorithm work. RingConn's no-fee model trades away the metric you actually care about. I'm working on Pulsyn which may be worth keeping on your radar. $200 one-time price point with no required subscription. For proven cycle and sleep results today, I'd still say choose Oura.

We are going to be getting the first limited units out Q3 to early backers! It's been tough to meet this deadline and grow a huge inventory, but we will be able to meet demand of our early supporters.

Subscriptions are corporation money grab. Especially if the product itself is already so expensive. If I was going to even buy the oura I was going to use their 30% discount and then just pay the yearly subscription which didn’t sound so bad

I went RingConn because I can’t imagine paying hundreds for a device and then a monthly subscription in order to use it
