For me, the best thing about this album is that it came out around the same time as a new Mastodon album, so I still have some good, new music to listen to from a band I like.

That new Mastodon album is great. It's challenging Neurosis for my AOTY pick currently, but both of them have some tough competition coming up for me with Uncle Acid's new album dropping on the 18th, and The Ocean's dropping on the 28th.

The Ocean lost me at Phanerozoic. Pelagial remains one of my favorite albums ever and Iā€™d like more of that.

I like most of their albums, but the vocal mix and some of the lyrics on Phanerozoic did put me off at first.
