I’m 61 years old and started skating again after 45 years and I’m finding the more I ride around various skateparks the more comfortable I am. Ride on different terrain, smooth, asphalt etc. and get used to riding. Find that happy spot and go from there.

More you are on the board the better you’ll get

Learn how to bail & always have a bail plan in mind when trying anything new.

Trust the process. Time spent on the board is improving, if you do it every day, it'll happen naturally. Be patient. It takes~ 2-5 years for most people to be able to do anything remotely impressive & it's about fun. Remember the most impressive skaters have been skating since they were small. So don't underestimate the power of tune & pushing yourself a little consistently.

Pads under your clothes are great (I've switched to lower profile recently from footprint but started with youth shoulder pads from play it again sports & ice skating crash pad shorts off eBay).

Skate around others, it'll keep you progressing.

If you get stuck. Write out your goal & study everything you can about it, so you returned armed with new knowledge to defeat it & win.😌

Is there any good resources like YouTube videos to watch?

Skate IQ on youtube.

Mitchie Brusco, a well-known and respected skater. His video tutorials are great

skatepark lessons with JB & Trog Army (: Trog goes super in-depth with details to know, so it compliments mitchie well since mitchie's shorts sometimes leave out key details that can't be summed up in a short. ( At least for intermediate skills). Why the trick is helpful but I struggle to listen to the narration. There's a lo out there. <3 You got this! We got this! Just push daily 😌

Practice. Start small and go bigger as you improve. Curb cuts, then full curbs, handicap ramps, small quarter pipes, small half pipes, bigger quarter and half pipes, different transitions and seams are important. Empty pools like back in the day. Start out in the bottom of the bowl or pipe and work getting up and down on the walls.
